A piece I have picked up from soc.culture.usa and revised.
N Korea and its people deserve our admiration and salutations. Never in the history of mankind has a nation as tiny as N Korea been demonised and threatened for so long by so big a nation as the USA. Yet tiny N Korea refuses to kowtow to mighty USA. Instead it stands up tall and firm to confront its big bully.
Why is N Korea developing nuclear weapons and wanting to put them onto submarines? The Americans should know better. The US has been bullying N Korea continuously since the Panmunjom Truce. N Korea has been threatened with invasions for so many times - by land, by sea or by both land and sea. It has suffered under so many economic sanctions initiated by the US. Rather than yielding to all the pressures, it chooses to fight back. Its army marches with strength and pride. On its own, it develops the A-bomb, rockets and now, the H-bomb. If it can achieve all these, and more, under such adverse conditions, it shows the world that the N Koreans are a people with guts and intelligence. They aim to have nuclear weapons on submarines which can get close to the US mainland undetected. This is one way to stop the bullying.
Its unthinkable that the Chinese should abandon the N Koreans. Together they have fought shoulder-to-shoulder till death in the Korean War. Against all odds, they fought the US and its allies to a stalemate. The sufferings which the Chinese and the N Koreans have been through together cannot be easily forgotten. The bond between them that grow out of a common struggle cannot be easily broken. It is more unthinkable that China should use N Korea as a pawn, sacrificing it for better relationship with the US. If it does, it will live to regret it. And that may happen sooner than it can believe. As far as the US is concerned, China is a bigger threat, much more so than N Korea. China is what the US is coming after. And its closing in.
Look at how the US is preparing for war against China. It has passed a law to enable the govt of the day to start a pre-emptive nuclear strike against China. It is re-pivoting to Asia; more precisely, re-targeting China. It is moving the main part and cream of its military might to Japan. It is lining up allies to encircle China, namely India, Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, S Korea. It is re-setting military bases in the Philippines and arming its former enemy Vietnam. It is helping and encouraging Japan to remilitarise. It is creating several united fronts against China. S Korea-Japan , S Korea-Japan-Asean, etc. It wants the world to believe that all these arises out of the dispute in the South China Sea. All these strategic moves for the sake of a few rocks and reefs in a sea? No, the US is aiming straight for China. It wants to start a war against China with an advantage - at the Chinese front yard. To start with, find some potential cannon fodders. Encourage them to challenge Chinese sovereignty in the East China Sea and South China Sea. Once challenges turn into conflicts, the US will then jump in to join the fight, against China. It is therefore most unwise of China to punish N Korea according to the wishes of the US. N Korea is one of its few dependable friends, especially when it comes to fighting against the US.
The Chinese should prefer N Korea over S Korea for friendship and alliance. The South is now deeply in the US pocket. It is now left to the N Koreans to carry the dignity of the Korean race. S Korea has become another dog on a leash held by the American. It will sell out the Korean race in order to be a good dog to the American. When two dogs on separate leashes held by the American have a fight, it is easily settled by the American. The one more useful to the US has to be allowed to win. This is what has happened in the Comfort Women dispute between the S Koreans and the Japs. Fighting China is the US obsession. Japan is more useful to the US for its fight against China. So the S Koreans have to give in to the Japs. They obediently agree to settle the dispute for just to a few millions of filthy Japs' money. The Japs now have nothing but despise and disgust for the Korean race.
The rest of the world should not allow the US to decide who should and should not have nuke. Otherwise it will be decided to the US advantage. Iran cannot have it because it is the bitter enemy of the US but India can have unlimited numbers because it can be used to counterbalance a rising China and it has bad relationship with China over a border dispute. It doesn't matter to the Americans that India is not a signatory to the Nuclear non-Proliferation Treaty. The Americans are helping the Indians to develop more powerful nuclear weapons with more advanced delivery system, masked as civilian nuclear programs.
Lastly, China should be careful not to be outfoxed by the US. When the US has caused relationship between China and N Korea to break beyond repair, the US will then stretch out its hand to N Korea. N Korea will become a US ally. The US will then have military bases nearer to China, in fact just across the border.
