For me the usp of TA has been the everydayness of it. Since Rob n Hellen,
I sense an influx of listeners wanting and peddling ideas for more issues
led stories. I suspect this is why I have begun to listen less. I don’t
know if “issues” are increasing in Ambridge or whether there is a change of
gear. I appreciate it began as a way to give advice to farmers but I
don’t think this is the same thing. It seems one band wagon after another
now.
TV soap are, imho, aimed at social influence through foregrounding a
variety of issues* and if the audience like this, I guess this is the way
TA will go. I hope I am wrong.
*I base this only on the trailers so I a may be quite wrong.
