Yup. And clearly Apple knows what customers want better than any random
outsider. The vocal minority bitching and moaning and calling for Tim
Cook's resignation apparently doesn't represent most customers. Go
figure. : )

The "pulse" of buying is simply pent up demand. People knew a refresh
was coming and waited it out. So sales have been low of late and now
the buying spree begins.

What evidence do you have to show that?

Quarterly reports are pretty clear on slower sales over the past 3
quarters (though the very last was improved). Couple that to the
general lack of upgrades over the past couple years and pent up demand
will release. Q1 figures in Jan will tell more...

That's not evidence of your assertion. Apple reported the new models are
selling *better* than all other releases that came before. So you've proven
nothing.

Your claim is both premature and unproven.

Hmm - pent up demand and all of the sudden Apple reports *better* sales
than ever before.

Those are not exactly contrary points.

That only works if the new machine is something people want.

Yup. As usual, John Gruber has a good take on this:

"If your priority is the display, the new displays are brighter (500
nits) and offer wide color gamut. The new MacBook Pro SSDs offer
industry-leading read and write performance, years ahead of the
competition. The 15-inch MacBook Pro offers a quad-core i7 with speeds
up to 3.8 GHz. For many demanding use cases, these are professional
machines. Just not all professions."
