We have just finished watching this series (I think it aired
pre-Christmas). In modern fashion it was told in a non-linear fashion
as we must expect.

What if anything did umrats think of it? I rather feel that it was so
complex that it was twice as long to tell as it needed and I am far from
sure that I will want to watch another series.

I was very taken by the first series of Humans which is based around an
underlying premise of robots - and we have series 2 waiting to be
watched. Will it be worth it?

Never saw the film although I believe the premise of robots and western
setting are the same.

Yes, twice as long, no, not sure I want to watch another series. I
don't like non-linear, probably because I have enough trouble
following linear :) Also i didn't really enjoy it.

I think I watched a few episodes and then gave that up. B didn't
watch that one at all.

We've also been watching Timeless and I don't think that is wonderful.
Episodes are a bit samey. Go back in period dress, danger, get stuck?
Get home, what has changed? And we watched serveral of Frequency,
interesting but again not wonderful and we seem to have stopped, I'm
not sure if for good. The idea was interesting but maybe a shorter
series would have been better.

For SF Startrek, The Next Generation was good at the time. Maybe dated
now. I loved Data. A well-thought-out android. Battlestar Galacticva
was good up to a point and had synthetic being in it that were well
done.

Stargate was very good although i was less keen on Atlantis as didn't
like the main characters. Stargate Universe was good but they stopped
it half way. stopped half way through.

Years ago there was a series called something like Out of This World I
think that had some of Assimov's robots in it. Those were good
stories, well done.

R4 did as the 19:45 serial last week or the week before, "I Robot". (For
those who only know the film of that title: it was "inspired by" the
book. A good film IMO, but definitely not a film of the book.) I was a
_bit_ surprised as I remember the book as being a collection of short
stories, but they made a reasonable drama of it.

Asimov's Laws of Robotics were mentioned a few times when the meeja were
doing some sort of robot/android blitz two or three weeks ago (about
them taking over more and more jobs - not sure why [the meeja were doing
that], maybe some report had come out or something).

There was a long film, I RObot, a few years ago that was nothing like
the books. About a little boy robot. It was awful.

There is a film called I Robot (which is nothing like the Asimov short
stories) but the one about the child robot is A.I. - it has Pinocchio
echoes with a touch of Wizard of Oz - very sad in parts.

I believe the film irritatingly called Se7en (well, it irritates me!)
has some of the same. I'm not sure I've seen it.

Shirley, se7en is a totally different film, a serial murderer who uses
the seven deadly sins as inspiration. I like lemon meringue.

Maybe I was being a bit harsh. They bigged it up as an Assimov robot
story and i was very disappointed. I'd have rather seen three of his
short stories in the time.

The current season (four) of Agents of SHIELD mentions assorted laws
of robotics, mostly when there's a disagreement about how the android
wants to behave.

The Science Museum has just opened a gallery of robotics, so it may be
the recent flurry is linked to that.

It seems there is also an anti-robot movement emerging (in USA I think), I
spotted something on facebook the other day.

I'm not surprised.

Mr Trump has convinced a lot of people that he will bring back all those
industrial jobs which have vanished over the last few decades.

Others have pointed out that those jobs will not be coming back since
they have mostly been lost to automation.

The only jobs that will be coming back are the ones that the people
they chuck out used to do. Mostly because USians didn't want to do
them.

I was very taken by the first series of Humans which is based around an

watched. Will it be worth it?
I loved Humans. A friend put me on to it, and I found both series were
available so watched them in sequence. Some interesting ideas.

I watched the first ep and wasn't sufficiently gripped by it to feel
any compulsion to watch more.

OTOH, I steamed through 1.5 seasons of Blindspot in a couple of weeks
and am now frustrated at having to wait for new weekly installments.
