The first volume of Demons of the Past, _Revelation_, is out now from
Double Dragon, at: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BZ1JXKT

Also, the first volume of Fall of Veils, _French Roast Apocalypse_, by
Kathleen Moffre-Spoor (my wife, if the last name doesn't give it away)
and myself, is also out, at: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BZ1H8WM

Demons is a project I've been working on longer than any other of my
published material; the first draft of the first book, then just titled
_Psionic!_, was written about 1980. It's a space opera that I have sort
of described as "What if Luke Skywalker had gone to the Imperial
Academy, and only found out about the Force -- and the fact that the
Empire was really rotten -- after 20 years of service?"

Fall of Veils is an ensemble cast series which is sort of a cross
between Cheers, Supernatural, and Being Human, with a coffee bar theme.

Well, depends how you mean "ongoing". Boundary's finished, but there's
still one coming in the follow-on Castaway. Paradigms Lost could be
continued and probably will be eventually. Princess Holy Aura could be
continued, whether that happens depends on sales. Phoenix' main story is
finished, though there could be another story afterward. The
Arenaverse's story is clearly not finished, if I ever get to that now
that Baen isn't asking for more. Polychrome could have a sequel but it's
pretty self-contained. Demons of the Past is a trilogy, of which all the
volumes are completed. Fall of Veils is going to be like 8-9 volumes.

Personally, I blame Homer. He wrapped things up nicely at the end of
_The Iliad_, but then he had to go and write a sequel. It's been downhill
ever since!

Sure, but the Iliad doesn't attempt to cover the totality of the Trojan
War. It would be a very different and much longer work if it did. Instead
it covers a small part of the war and concentrates on various conflicts
between Agamemnon, Achilles, Patroclus, Hector, etc. At the end of the
poem the central conflicts are resolved in a rather, um, decisive manner.
(And then there is that rumor that _The Odyssey_ was ghosted, but we
won't go there.)

Well, it's not like there aren't a lot of individual stories, it's just
that to get to the end of ALL the planned events will take that long.

For the Arenaverse I'm not sure how long it'd take. At least another
three books from where I currently stopped, and probably considerably
more before I actually answer all the major questions and deal with the
top adversaries.

pps: I have Demon, Dragon, Phoenix, Toad on my books.to.buy list; should it

"Demon, Dragon, Phoenix, Toad" was the working title for the book
released as _Phoenix in Shadow_. The original titles for the three books
were _Fall of Saints_, _Demon, Dragon, Phoenix, Toad_, and _Promise of
the Dying God_. Baen made me change the name of the god-powered warriors
from Saints to Justiciars, thus axing the first title, and they thought
the second sounded too silly, so I went with keeping a thematic
similarity in the titles: _Phoenix Rising_, _Phoenix in Shadow_, and
_Phoenix Ascendant_.

Demons of the Past's three volumes are _Revelation_, _Revolution_, and
_Retribution_.

Just out of curiosity. Is the name of a certain minor character in
French Roast Apocalypse spelled "Jaivin" or "Jaivan". It's spelled
both ways in my Kindle edition. More precisely, it's spelled
"Jaivin" in the first few mentions and "Jaivan" in the later
mentions.

I count those as separate series, so to speak. Jason Wood has one set
of stories that started with Paradigms Lost; then there's The Spirit
Warriors (Xavier and friends), and Godswar (Kyri's sister, Kyri's aunt
Victoria, and the two odd bodyguards they'd picked up).

Eventually it all collides in The Grand Finale, which will probably be
"Wolf's Dominion".

It also has an interesting view (one I pretty much

Meanwhile Here is Nicoll's take:

"Do not make the mistake of expecting anything more than
merely serviceable prose. Hogan is also keen on ungainly
infodumps. I admit that the infodump is a time-honoured
literary tradition, but it can be well or badly done. Hogan
does it gracelessly. The story comes to a grinding a halt while
the omniscient narrator lectures. Hogan also disdains much in
the way of characterization; that might draw attention from
the historical and physical puzzles that are Charlie and the
spaceship."
Ouch! Hogan died years ago, so he does not have to feel the burn!

Demons is a project I've been working on longer than any other of
my published material; the first draft of the first book, then just
titled _Psionic!_, was written about 1980. It's a space opera that I
have sort of described as "What if Luke Skywalker had gone to the
Imperial Academy, and only found out about the Force -- and the fact
that the Empire was really rotten -- after 20 years of service?"
Fall of Veils is an ensemble cast series which is sort of a cross
between Cheers, Supernatural, and Being Human, with a coffee bar theme.
In my opinion, this is not spam. It is totally on target for the moving
goals of the group.
