A cap-and-trade system aimed at curbing greenhouse gas emissions from fossil
fuels like petroleum and coal is at the heart of legislation that narrowly
passed the U.S. House of Representatives on June 26. The Senate is expected to
start considering it in September.

This kind of system, which Obama supports, aims to cut carbon dioxide emissions
by 17 percent from 2005 levels by 2020, and by 83 percent by 2050.

Instead, Palin advocated offshore oil drilling, drilling in Alaska's Arctic
National Wildlife Refuge, more coal mining ....

Record breaking cold temperatures in July. Coldest on record for June.

I think I'm going to get a second patio heater cause it's so darn cold
at night on my huge wooden deck.
One way or another, I'll make it feel like summer time out there by
the pool. Now where is that chlorine?

I kind of doubt that.

The Jet Strem dipped South bringing the US NE cooler than average
weather for now.
How is the rest of the world?
You are warming up normally colder Canadian & Arctic air
so even more warm air is going there to displace it south.

IOW Heat transport rates may be being forced upwards due
to it getting warmer.

chlorine to replace what is lost,” says AccuWeather.com’s Gina

Fresh snow on Mount Redoubt in Alaska – right on the Solstice no less!

Email from meteorologist:
“I do not know if snow in mid-June on Mount Redoubt is ‘normal’ or
not,” says meteorologist George Harvey. “To me, though, it flies in
the face of ‘Global Warming.’”

George Harvey

Senior Meteorologist

www.impactweather.com

See webcam picture here:

http://www.avo.alaska.edu/webcam/Redoubt_-_DFR.php

Jun 23 - A follow-up email from George:
Anecdotal evidence suggests summertime “snow caps” on Mt Redoubt are
not uncommon. Looking at pictures archived on the Alaska Volcano
Observatory site show that during past eruptive period (1989-90)
showed snow on the summit during July and August of 1990.

This suggests that snowfall like this does occur at any time of the
year.

Arizona coolest since 1913 - Thursday was the 14th consecutive day to

Summer a month late in Utah - For the last three weeks, we have had

Twelve inches of rain in one day in North Dakota - Bismarck, ND - A
video on weather.com interviews a farmer who measured 12 inches of
rain in 24 hours on his farm. His neighbor’s rain gauges are only 6”
high and they overflowed. Yet the official reports say only this:

The National Weather Service said its reports ranged from 5.6 inches
at the Bismarck airport since Monday to more than 7 inches east of the
city with about an inch falling in an hour Tuesday afternoon.

“Now, 12” of rain would = 120” of snow = 10 FEET of snow!!!!” says
reader Stephanie Relfe. “Remember, North Dakota was where they had
some of the major snow storms.”

Historic cold in Twin Cities - Minnesota’s State Climatology Office
says the temperatures in St. Paul and Minneapolis stayed below for 60
for three straight days, something that hasn't happened in June since
June 1-3, 1951.

below 60 in June were 1917, 1935, and 1937.

The high temperature of 52 degrees on Saturday set a record as the
lowest high temperature for that date.

Florida colder than normal
Email from reader
Hi Robert,
I don't have actual statistics, but we've been going to the beach the
last week (Palm Coast Florida) and we can't remember it every being
cold like this. When a cold wind blows, which it is usually, and the
clouds are over, which they are mostly, it's almost cold enough for a
light sweater. And this is FLORIDA in June (admittedly, North Florida
- but it is normally VERY hot by now)!!! The water is also
unseasonably cold. One is chattering after an hour's swim, even at
the hottest part of the day. THIS IS NOT NORMAL.

Below-normal temperatures through mid-June for much of northern U.S.

“Holy frozen petunias, Batman, this is cold — even for us."

“The trend so far in June, and for the foreseeable future, continues a
very cold and slow-starting spring across the Northland."

“The Climate Prediction Center is forecasting below-normal
temperatures through at least mid-June for much of the northern U.S."

“You guys have been cold even by northern Minnesota standards,” said
Pete Boulay, assistant state climatologist."

Year Without a Summer? - According to Long Range Expert Joe Bastardi,
areas from the northern Plains into the Northeast will have a "year
without a summer." The jet stream, which is suppressed abnormally
south this spring, is also suppressing the number of thunderstorms
that can form. The ones that do form in areas of the Ohio Valley and
West are forming in places with very cold temperatures, which can lead
to more electrified thunderstorms than normal this year."

Fresh snow on Mount Redoubt in Alaska – right on the Solstice no less!
“I do not know if snow in mid-June on Mount Redoubt is ‘normal’ or
not,” says meteorologist George Harvey. “To me, though, it flies in
the face of ‘Global Warming.’”
George Harvey
Senior Meteorologist
www.impactweather.com
http://www.avo.alaska.edu/webcam/Redoubt_-_DFR.php
Anecdotal evidence suggests summertime “snow caps” on Mt Redoubt are
not uncommon. Looking at pictures archived on the Alaska Volcano
Observatory site show that during past eruptive period (1989-90)
showed snow on the summit during July and August of 1990.
This suggests that snowfall like this does occur at any time of the
year.

Twelve inches of rain in one day in North Dakota - Bismarck, ND - A
video on weather.com interviews a farmer who measured 12 inches of
rain in 24 hours on his farm. His neighbor’s rain gauges are only 6”
The National Weather Service said its reports ranged from 5.6 inches
at the Bismarck airport since Monday to more than 7 inches east of the
city with about an inch falling in an hour Tuesday afternoon.
“Now, 12” of rain would = 120” of snow = 10 FEET of snow!!!!” says
reader Stephanie Relfe. “Remember, North Dakota was where they had
some of the major snow storms.”

Bulldozing Hail in New Jersey – It looked as if a blizzard blew

Tucson, AZ colder than normal - normally it’s 100-105 degrees this
time of year, instead it’s 90-98. I’m loving it but it’s no good for
the cotton. Forecast is for another week of sub-100 degree days.
Typically here it’s 100+ degrees from May 15 to Oct 1. Where is the
heat?

Historic cold in Twin Cities - Minnesota’s State Climatology Office
says the temperatures in St. Paul and Minneapolis stayed below for 60
for three straight days, something that hasn't happened in June since
June 1-3, 1951.
The only other years with three days in a row of high temperatures
below 60 in June were 1917, 1935, and 1937.

The Jet Stream dipped South so cold air from Canada & the Arctic came ....
which is being warmed up.
OTOH Warm air from elsewhere had to move North someplace to
displace it. Due to warming no doubt. And warming the Arctic even more.
And it's a solar minimum I gather ....

Record breaking cold temperatures in July. Coldest on record for June.
  I kind of doubt that.
I realize my last post was lengthy....but I want to present you some
FACTS with websites verifying them. Here are some more facts.....

Are you aware that low temperature records were set in 46 states
during the month of June? According to the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), some 538 low temperature records
were set in June alone.

The Nisqually Glacier on Mt. Rainier is growing. The Emmons Glacier on
Mt. Rainier is growing. Crater Glacier on Mt. Saint Helens is growing.
(According to the US Forest Service, Crater Glacier is now larger than
it was before the 1980 eruption.) Glaciers on Glacier Peak in northern
Washington are growing. Glaciers are also growing on California’s Mt.
Shasta, and that glaciers are growing in Alaska for the first time in
250 years. In May, Alaska’s Hubbard Glacier was advancing at the rate
of seven feet per day - more than half-a-mile per year. And in Icy
Bay, at least three glaciers have advanced a third of a mile in one
year.

You say thats just North America....Well....

Perito Moreno Glacier, the largest glacier in Argentina, is growing.
Pio XI Glacier, the largest glacier in Chile, is growing. Glaciers are
growing on Mt. Logan, the tallest mountain in Canada. Glaciers are
growing on Mt. Blanc, the tallest mountain in France.

Glaciers (230 of them) are growing in the Western Himalayas. Glaciers
are growing in Norway. Recently, all 50 glaciers in New Zealand were
growing. Glaciers in Greenland are growing thicker. And contrary to
what we’ve being told, the Antarctic Ice Sheet is growing, not
shrinking.

More than 90 percent of the world’s glaciers are growing, but all that
we hear about are the ones that are shrinking. Fuck Kilimanjaro.

According to Dr. Roy Spencer, climatologist and former NASA scientist,
satellite data for June shows that the earth has cooled an astounding .
74°F since former Vice President Al Gore released his bullshit "An
Inconvenient Truth" in 2006.

These are all facts that can be verified. What "facts" do you have to
contradict them?

You obviously can't tell which it is. So I would suggest that if you
really want to know the truth here is what you should do. Instead of
looking and listening to the people who say global warming is a hoax
what you should do is look at the other side. Examine the case made by
the top climate scientists who say global warming is real. See how many
in the legitimate scientific community agree with that view. Look at how
good the case for global warming really is. If you did that I doubt you
would still think it's not for real. Do I expect you to actually look at
the facts the other side presents, Hell no. I think you will only listen
to the antis and more than likely to what Limbaugh tells you. That's
what a typical right winger would do.

What is your obsession with a fucking moron like Rush? For some reason
you seem to know what he says....why is that. My sourcces
include...but are not limited to USA Today, James Cook University,
Queensland, l...NOAA also proves invaluable for looking up temp data.
You were the one that said "I doupt that" when someone said it has
been a cooler than normal summer. NOAA data proves that it has been in
fact, cooler than normal.

I also get my theories/ideas from such people like Ivar Giaever, Nobel
Prize Winner for Physics. Bet you have read alot of his stuff.
Dr. Joanne Simpson, Atmospheric Scientist formerly of NASA has written
somethng like 200 studies. Read a few of these.

Those last 2 people alone have more credibility than Hansen could ever
hope to. Ask yourself....who has more to lose.....if GW is proven to
be untrue, Gore & Hansen will be literally crucified.

March 2009 Tenth Warmest on Record for Global Temperatures

http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2009/20090416_globalmarchstats.html?loc=interstitialskip
[
The combined global land and ocean surface temperature for March was
55.87degrees F, which at 0.97 degrees F above the 20th century average of 54.9
degrees F ranks as the 10th warmest March on record.

Separately, the March global land surface temperature was 42.47 degrees F, which
was 1.67 degrees F above the 20th century average of 40.8 degrees F, ranking it
as 10th warmest March on record.

The March global ocean surface temperature of 61.42 degrees F was eighth warmest
on record, reaching 0.72 degrees F above the 20th century average of 60.7
degrees F.

The combined global land and ocean surface temperature for the year to date
(January-March) was 55.04 degrees F, 0.94 degrees F above the 20th century
average of 54.1 degrees F and ranking eighth warmest.

The Northern Hemisphere experienced its 12th warmest March on record, while the
March 2009 Northern Hemisphere average ocean surface temperature tied with 2001
and 2006 for seventh warmest.

For the Southern Hemisphere, March 2009 land surface temperature was the fourth
warmest March on record, while the March 2009 ocean surface temperature was
sixth warmest.

says you would think he could look at evidence and make a fair
conclusion. All the climate scientists are doing is that, looking at the
evidence and they can't help but see the same thing. But I do understand
how the uneducated are taken in by the industry of science deniers and
sand throwers. I can't understand this from anyone with an education,
especially one in science. Is it possible that global warming is not
being caused by man and something else could be the cause? Sure. But
until scientists find out what that is they have to go on what the
evidence they have says as of now. The available science says global
warming is a fact and it's man made. Because of that one should take the
position that is true and believe it until something comes around to
disprove it. Not the other way around.

About any of them.
All you have is BS & confusion.
Want some clarity from an unexpected source? Bill O'reilly, no less, on
his program last week said that the temperature of the planet has heated
measurably in the last 30 years. He added, there is no debate on the
fact that the planet is warming. The only disagreement is on the cause.
By far most climate experts believe the warming is due to the actions of
humans. A small number of deniers and industry paid anti global warming
shills argue humans have nothing to do with it. But consider the source.
Even Bill O'reilly says it's getting hotter. The only folks who say
otherwise seem to draw paychecks from the energy, and manufacturing
industries. That's more than enough for a rational person to know who to
believe.

I realize my last post was lengthy....but I want to present you some
FACTS with websites verifying them. Here are some more facts.....
http://www.oregonlive.com/opinion/index.ssf/2009/07/paranoia_strikes_when_rightwin.html
"Paranoia strikes when right-wing radio goes silent"
[
Moments after conservative talk radio station KPNW went suddenly silent for
several days earlier this month, many listeners were quick to accuse the Obama
administration of using its mighty power to take Rush Limbaugh and Lars Larson
off the air.

The mysterious black-out went on for hours, then days. When the local newspaper,
The Register-Guard, quoted station officials explaining that a 60-year backup
transmitter had failed in sizzling temperatures, the same listeners still could
not buy it. They jammed the station's phone lines, insisting "liberal
terrorists" must have sabotaged it.

And who can blame them for being suspicious? Isn't it more than a little bit
fishy that a 60-year transmitter would just all of a sudden break down in
94-degree heat?

One typical KPNW listener and conspiracy theorist, Ted Egan of Veneta, told the
Eugene paper he didn't buy the radio station's official explanation.

"You listen to these guys talk [Limbaugh, Larson, Michael Savage and so forth]
and they are really down on this guy Obama. They really blast him," Egan told
the paper. "I don't think he likes it, and I think he has the power to do
something."

It is indeed plausible that President Barack Obama is concerned about the
extreme rhetoric spewing these days from right-wing radio. Perhaps the
administration decided to intimidate Limbaugh & Co. by knocking a little
Eugene-Springfield station off the air for a few days, just to send a message.

What's baffling is that the station management, the same people responsible for
running all those conservative voices, joined in the conspiracy. By putting up
the flimsy story about the ancient broken-down transmitter, they helped cover up
Obama's fascist crackdown. (Or the liberal terrorist sabotage, or whatever evil
plot stopped the broadcasting.)

Record breaking cold temperatures in July. Coldest on record for June.
I kind of doubt that.
I realize my last post was lengthy....but I want to present you some
FACTS with websites verifying them. Here are some more facts.....

"Paranoia strikes when right-wing radio goes silent"
[
Moments after conservative talk radio station KPNW went suddenly silent
for several days earlier this month, many listeners were quick to accuse
the Obama administration of using its mighty power to take Rush Limbaugh
and Lars Larson off the air.
Why bother? They make fools of themselves all by themselves.
Post by Cliff
The mysterious black-out went on for hours, then days. When the local
newspaper, The Register-Guard, quoted station officials explaining that a
60-year backup transmitter had failed in sizzling temperatures, the same
listeners still could not buy it. They jammed the station's phone lines,
insisting "liberal terrorists" must have sabotaged it.
Hehehehehehe. Paranoid idiots.
Post by Cliff
And who can blame them for being suspicious? Isn't it more than a little
bit fishy that a 60-year transmitter would just all of a sudden break down
in 94-degree heat?
Heh. *I* break down in 94 degree heat.
Post by Cliff
One typical KPNW listener and conspiracy theorist, Ted Egan of Veneta,
told the Eugene paper he didn't buy the radio station's official
explanation.
"You listen to these guys talk [Limbaugh, Larson, Michael Savage and so
forth] and they are really down on this guy Obama. They really blast him,"
Egan told the paper. "I don't think he likes it, and I think he has the
power to do something."
Yeah, right. Like Obama is concerned about them. Heh.
Post by Cliff
What's baffling is that the station management, the same people
responsible for running all those conservative voices, joined in the
conspiracy. By putting up the flimsy story about the ancient broken-down
transmitter, they helped cover up Obama's fascist crackdown. (Or the
liberal terrorist sabotage, or whatever evil plot stopped the
broadcasting.)
]
It's terrible, I say! Just terrible.

Heh. *I* break down in 94 degree heat.
Obviously cliffy has never tried to repair an old AM broadcast
transmitter. Ones that old have no new parts available. Only salvaged
junk, russian or rebuilt tubes and custom wound transformers from Peter
Dahl. They weren't that reliable when new, and depended heavily on
their cooling fans. A transmitter would overheat and die in minutes
when a fan quit. Then standby transmitters in old buildings often have
field mice build nests in the cabinets, wasps or other insects make
nests and plug the air vents. A lot of early stations used old railroad
buildings, storage sheds, corn cribs or chicken coups to house the
transmitters. Another high failure is the motorized antenna switches
that switch from the main to standby transmitter, and that stations tray
to get by with contract engineers, who charge by the hour. That mean a
lot of low budget stations simply don't repair their standby equipment
when it fails.

Those fans had lots of bearing failures, when used in standby
service. I used to repair some of them myself, and have moved and
rebuilt a couple. There were a lot of brands at that time, and a lot of
models for different power levels. Hell, 'Harris, Broadcast Division'
is on their third or fourth generation of modular solid state
transmitters that the DJ can do most repairs on.

My first work on an AM transmitter was at the first permanent
AFRN/AFRTS radio station with a Gates BC-250. It was 30 years old at
the time, and was installed not long after WW II ended. From the
information available in the logs, it wasn't new when installed. It was
a royal pain, even in the sub zero temperatures in Alaska.

In the Eugene/Springfield area, I can well believe the equipment was VERY
old, not maintained very well, AND with the high temps lately, would just
go out. Not a mystery to me.

Try blowing out the case and also the fins on the cpu with compressed air.

Might be some air-flow problems in there...fold up the ribbon cables etc
and create more space for the air to move around?

It's really a problem of the area they are in. It's a long (70ft) by 14ft
closet in the attic. Not enough air circulation in there on really hot
days. We need to get some extra fans set up outside the computers, I
think.

We're in the process of doing that. It's a low ceiling in there so we

Yes, I had a heart attack. I didnt take aspirin. I worked long hours,

Ive revised my life after that close call. Shrug..live and learn.

As for my heart beat...it was measured today, after pushing a shopping
cart with 120lbs of cat and dog food all around Kmart. So Im doing
rather well and Im healing nicely. My chest and leg scars look several
years old, and Ive been working 10+ hours a day the last couple months,

horizon. Im close to having 6 months food supply on the shelves, making
my machine shop more efficeint and paying off some pressing bills while
laying in fuel, medical supplies and so forth in preperation for the
submerging of California as a State.

You on the other hand...are simply toast. And it will be a joy to hear

I can't believe this is going on, even without the issue
of freedom and national security, how can so many people
waste time and money on activism when workers are in
need and nobody wants to get their hands dirty.

At this point I seem to hear people saying,

and the Obamassiah will make it all better exactly as he promised..in
his "first 100 days"? A date long long passed btw....with the slide
downwards speeding up....
Things seem to be much better since the shrub was removed.
Blink blink....much better....blink.....right. Blink.....which planet
do you claim to be living on, again?

And Removed is hardly the term for End of Term. But your bias and
bigoty is noted by its use. So Clinton was Removed, as will be Obama?

Fascinating how you Leftards think. Or dont think as it were.

So Pandora...exactly how do you plan on providing for yourself and your
pets/children in the next few years as the malaize deepens? Let us all
know your plans and world view on the subject. It should be interesting
reading. And maybe you can teach even us hardened survivalists
something worth reading.
I doubt it since you're all thick as a brick.
Im still waiting. Just think..you may be able to teach other readers
something. Are you condeming them to certain death because of your
dislike for me? Typical Leftard mindset.

Or...in fact..you dont have a clue as to how you are going to survive
and the though panics you so badly you simply must spew all sorts of
utter buffoonery as you flounder around in rising water, praying your
Obamassiah is going to somehow save you.

Shrug..sorry cupcake...you had best be getting your ass off the pot
RIGHT NOW and laying in a shitload more food than a couple months,
seeds, fuels etc etc..else you will be up shit creek and your crippled
old man may be turning over the back yard in hopes you both can plant a
garden and survive another year. And quit hoping the Obamassiah is
going to save you. He is a large part of the problem, not the
solution..and frankly...he wont see another term as President. He will
be removed by vote or other means by the People who, just like
you..slowly starve to death in the near future.

Good for you lad. Now assuming the masses miss you when they go after

As I always have. Without YOUR help.

I don't own a Master Card and I have food in my pantry for many months.
You really need to forget your stereotypes.
How many months? What sort of food? My ex once bought food for 4
months..stocked the freezer...
Silly.

U.S. Rescue May Reach $23.7 Trillion, Barofsky Says (Update3)
By Dawn Kopecki and Catherine Dodge
July 20 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. taxpayers may be on the hook for as
much as $23.7 trillion to bolster the economy and bail out
financial companies, said Neil Barofsky, special inspector
general for the Treasury’s Troubled Asset Relief Program.

Thanks for posting the GABM;

" a phenomenon that reached its apex in 1999, when Rubin appeared on the
cover of Time with his Treasury deputy, Larry Summers, and Fed chief
Alan Greenspan under the headline The Committee To Save The World. And
"what Rubin thought," mostly, was that the American economy, and in
particular the financial markets, were over-regulated and needed to be
set free. During his tenure at Treasury, the Clinton White House made a
series of moves that would have drastic consequences for the global
economy — beginning with Rubin's complete and total failure to regulate
his old firm during its first mad dash for obscene short-term profits."

Id hazard to bet that you have maybe...maybe a weeks worth of grub in your
cupboards. Think your Mastercard will feed you for the next couple years?
I don't own a Master Card and I have food in my pantry for many months.
You really need to forget your stereotypes.
How many months? What sort of food? My ex once bought food for 4
months..stocked the freezer...then the power went out for 4 weeks after
the Coalinga Earthquake. Fortunately I was able to get a gennie
running..but it was a close thing.
Gee .... and just down the street was an open grocer ...

*************
Of course he has none; Cliffie is just parroting his masters as the mind
control beam has instructed him (sorry to all men for using the masculine in
the description of shit like Cliff).
He isn't interested in facts, just blowjobs.

You didn't see the decimal point where the editor
did the line break wrong, that was written .74 F, only a

Then it would be in degrees C, not F, and that's about how
much warmer NOAA says it is. So far. It's just getting started.
And CO2 has a very long lifetime in the atmosphere, longer by far
than the decade or so for Methane.
Then there are the feedback loops & tipping points .... and
all the conservative estimates have been way on the low side

A cap-and-trade system aimed at curbing greenhouse gas emissions from fossil

This kind of system, which Obama supports, aims to cut carbon dioxide emissions

fuels like petroleum and coal is at the heart of legislation that narrowly
passed the U.S. House of Representatives on June 26. The Senate is expected to
start considering it in September.
This kind of system, which Obama supports, aims to cut carbon dioxide emissions
by 17 percent from 2005 levels by 2020, and by 83 percent by 2050.
17% worldwide? 83% worldwide?

Most of the viable alternative energy sources were shunned by the
"enviro-fundamentalists". They are the ones who stopped nuclear plant
building. Probably the number one best source of alternative energy. The
"enviro-fundamentalists" shut down a lot of the windmills because they were
killing the raptors that preyed on the vermin living in the grass of the
wind farm.

That and after Three Mile Island, the price of the things went up
significantly. Duke power was in the process of building McGuire
Nuclear Station (near completion) when TMI happened. The price went
up so much that Bill Lee (the CEO at the time) had to go to New York
to get the money to meet budget. They came very close to going under
because of design changes based on the TMI incident.

Duke was in the process of building another nuclear station
(Cherokee). Although a lot of the building construction had been
done, the decision was made to stop construction on it. The last I
heard, it had been sold to a movie company where they use the
containment structures to do a lot of the underwater movies. This
action was taken although all prerequisites for licensing had already
been done (including environmental impact studies).

Still, Duke produces a significant amount of their electricity with
nuclear power. Duke's decision to stop building nukes had nothing to
do with environmentalists. It had everything to do with the bottom
line and the most cost effective means of meeting electrical demand
thus maximizing ROI for the investors. These included co generation,
stored energy, and gas turbine technology. All meant to meet peak
demands. When it comes to electric utilities, it's all about money.

Actually they were banned in a lot of areas. And the cost was run up
because of the "enviro-fundamentalists". Lots of hoops to jump through.
The New York Shoreham Plant. Cancelled because of politics. Was completed
and never put in operation. How much did that add to the cost of nuclear.
Most plants came in a 6 or 7 times cost because if enviromental delays and
excessive financing costs.

F'ed up welds are correctable in the first place. Where were the inspectors
when the welders were working? Were they Union Welders protected even if
they could not weld? Enviromental reports and delays addeded 2-300% to the
costs. Just like the envio's shutting down the upgrade to the Richmond, CA
Chevron refinery. Upgrades so they can use American crude. Has killed 1000
jobs already. This is a refinery that was there before the houses.
