I'm sure you've all seen this:

This is who played with DEVO on drums last night at the Weenie Roast
concert in LA. Steve Moore is his name, www.maddrummerinc.com . Best
drummer DEVO has ever had, including Alan Myers (yes, I said Alan
Myers). Never was a fan of David Kendrick's, but I did like Josh.
But this guy KILLED!!! On what had to be pretty short notice, he came
in and just destroyed the place like no drummer I've ever seen.

Played everything with a ton of respect to what Alan and Josh did
before him, but in his own way with the crazy stickwork and stuff.
Dead on perfect with everything, and unlike David and Josh who
sometimes seemed to struggle with the robotic feel needed for DEVO
(especially David), this guy nailed it. Absolutely amazing.

I'm sure someone will cap it and upload it soon. The online mix was
bad at first, but it got better, so try to look past it. But by all
means, watch it.

No he didn't. Someone posted this video in that thread on Spud Talk as
a joke and you don't read hard enough. Jeff Friedl played with them at
the Weenie Roast:

wow, ok ok, alex! take it easy! listen, if that's true, it was an
honest mistake. i thought jeff played dw's, not ludwigs like steve.
and he sure played a lot like steve as well and set his drum set up
very similar to what steve does. and his hair looked nothing like
what i've seen from jeff in the past.

hmmm...i wonder if that weasn't done on purpose just to make everyone
think it was steve and have a little fun with us ;) either way, he
totally killed and i stand behind what i said about his playing.

No, it''s not! But it's a name that was created by a couple of old
jews who like to go out on the nostalgia circuit and relive their
glory days from the 70s.

That's a Jewish thing? I thought a lot of people were into that, some
of them not Jewish at all.

Oh give it a rest, Legume. Any entertainment value the Michael

People who are into Devo are people who like reliving the youth they
enjoyed 30 years ago. They enjoy going to see oldies shows out on the
nostalgia circuit, i.e., groups like Devo.

Look, I know it's tempting to think that oldies shows and nostalgia
events are relevant, because it makes you feel better to think they
are. But the fact is, Devo is an old band, still trotting out their
tired old schtick from the 70s, and trying to make a little money off
people's nostalgia for their youth. If you enjoy that, then great, but
let's not confuse a bunch of 40+ year olds (i.e., Devo and their fans)
with anything that is culturally relevant.

i guess that's why they're playing big rock festivals like coachella
and the weenie roast and blowing these newer bands off the stage.

btw, the members of Devo are closer to 60, and a couple of them
actually are 60.

Culturally relevant? When did DEVO ever have anything at all to do
with that?

actually, considering devo was the first band to tell everyone the
world is going down the shitter and there's nothing we can do, they've
always been culturally relevant, even though they once wrote a song
about disco 10 years after disco's heyday ;)

but now, more than ever, devo is culturally relevant because everyone
agrees they were right these days, whereas before there were still
stupid idealists out there who didn't want to believe it. but now the
proof is in, devo was right, and we're all doomed. DOOMED, I TELL
YOU!

You are so right. Everything is so true, I must now curl up into a
little ball and die now. Thank you.
