Hmmmm... now what major worldwide even took place starting
in 1939 (England) and the end of 1941 (United States) which
could/would have had a statistically noticable effect on
the male population born in the referenced dates?

Can't speak to major leaguers but when it comes to those who would
have succeeded to British hereditary titles, here are those born in
those years who died as a result of that event:

John Cecil Oliver Trench*
(son of a brother older than the father of the 6th Baron Ashtown),
23rd September 1923-22nd October 1942

Norton Cecil Michael Knatchbull,6th Baron Brabourne,**
11th February 1922-15th September 1943

Robert John Ochiltree Stuart,by courtesy Viscount Stuart, second son of the
7th Earl Castle Stewart,***
12th December 1923-17th September 1944
(the two immediately previous were nephews of the two before them)

Robert James Brand, only son of the (later created) 1st(and last) Baron
Brand,16th June 1923-March 1945

Sir Howard Frederick Frank,2nd Baronet,
5th April 1923-September 1944

Lord Edward Norman Petty-Fitzmaurice,******
younger brother of the 7th Marquess of Lansdowne and 9th Lord Nairne,28th July
1922-11th August 1944

Gilfrid MacIver Lewthwaite, uncle of Sir David Rainald Lewthwaite,5th
and last Baronet,15th April 1922-22nd July 1943
(title his elder brothers held to 2003 died out with his nephew in 2004)

Duke of Newcastle,29th March 1923-24th May 1943

Sir George Peter Vernon Wills,3rd Baronet,
8th January 1922-19th April 1945

(extracted from a file you may recall my posting every November 11...
searching the file results in my discovering the 1922 and 1923 births
were often of people whose entries referenced relatives also killed in
World Wars...)

*nephew of Percy Richard Oliver Trench, son of a younger brother of the 3rd
Baron Ashtown(the 6th Baron was his younger brother's son,the 7th
is his grandfather's younger brother's grandson),

**cousin once removed of
Wyndham Wentworth Knatchbull-Hugessen,3rd Baron Brabourne,

and of
Hon. Robert Sheffield Stuart, second son of the 6th Earl Castle Stewart,

younger brother,Gaspard Patrick Hunter Blair, grandfather of Sir Patrick
Hunter Blair,9th baronet,
21st September 1895-June 1941

******(would have succeeded his brother had he lived ten more days...
the Nairne title went to their sister and the Lansdowne title to a cousin,
the son of
Lord Charles George Francis Mercer Nairne Petty-Fitzmaurice,
12th February 1874-30th October 1914

There are also no former NHL players alive who were born in 1923. The two oldest are Jim Conacher (born May 5, 1921) and Steve Wojciechowski (born Dec 25 1922). The third oldest living is Howie Meeker (born November 4, 1924).

As far as basketball goes, the oldest living NBA player is Whitey Von Nieda (born June 19, 1922). If you count the NBL as the NBA, which most historians do but the NBA refuses, Larry Kenney is the oldest (born June 13, 1920.) After those two gentlemen, you have a group of six players born in 1923 that survive.
