Harry is ordered to the front line

22.02.07
Evening Standard

Prince Harry was "over the moon" last night after being told he will be
going to Iraq within weeks.

The 22-year-old Army officer will command an armoured patrol on a six-month
tour of duty after winning his battle to serve alongside his fellow
soldiers.

Harry, who had threatened to quit if he was not allowed to join his men on
the front line, will become the first member of the Royal Family to serve in
a war zone since Prince Andrew in the Falklands war 25 years ago.

The final decision to put the third in line to the throne in harm's way came
after months of agonised debate between the Ministry of Defence and the
royal household. Palace sources said the Queen had given her "whole-hearted
support" to her grandson's deployment.

But while Harry's courage was lauded yesterday, there were concerns that
insurgents will flock to southern Iraq in the hope of capturing him as a
"trophy".

Islamic extremists warned his presence could provoke a backlash from British
Muslims against the Royal Family.

Ralph Wykes-Sneyd, Prince Andrew's commanding officer in the Falklands War,
said the Argentine military junta had plotted to capture Andrew "and parade
him through the streets of Buenos Aires" in 1982.

He feared Harry would be in even greater danger. "He is a man of some
celebrity. You offer up some trophy factor," he said.

Referring to Prince Andrew's service as a Navy helicopter pilot, he added:
"There is a difference between sea operations and land operations. At sea
you fight a war at much more distance from the enemy. You're much less
likely to end up in the enemy's hands. That is not the case on land."

The Ministry of Defence also had to take into account the possibility that
Harry's presence in Iraq would increase the risk to his fellow soldiers, who
have wryly nicknamed him "bullet magnet".

Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Richard Dannatt, gave the final
go-ahead to send Harry into action after consultations with the royal
household and senior Government ministers.

The MoD confirmed that Harry's unit, "A" Squadron of the Blues and Royals,
is among those going to Iraq from April, and that he will carry out a
"normal troop commander's role".

In a statement jointly issued with Clarence House, the MoD said the decision
to send Harry had been "a military one".

Senior royal sources told the Mail that while the Queen was concerned for
his safety, her belief in the importance of duty meant that "if the Army say
they want him there, Harry has her wholehearted support".

Asked what he thought about Prince Harry going to Iraq, Tony Blair told the
BBC: "I think it is very typical of him. He is a very brave young man who
wants to be part of his regiment and part of the Army. It shows a very
special character on his part."

Cornet Wales, as he is known in the Army, will lead a troop of 12 men from
the Blues and Royals in four Scimitar light tanks, carrying out long-range
desert patrols.

Primarily responsible for surveillance and intelligence-gathering, the
Prince's men are likely to operate well away from towns, using their
mobility to keep watch on enemy movements across wide swathes of southern
Iraq's remote deserts.

The nature of his work in Iraq will minimise the danger of him being
identified by insurgents.

The MoD and Clarence house issued an unprecedented appeal for a news
blackout once Harry arrives in Iraq - and for an end to any discussions
about his unit's likely location.

His tour of duty is expected to test the strength of his relationship with
girlfriend Chelsy Davy.

However the couple are likely to be reunited when Harry returns to Britain
on leave in July. He will also be back in August for the pop concert and
memorial service to mark the 10th anniversary of his mother's death.

It will also mean an abrupt end to the hectic socialising for which he has
been criticised in recent months.

Major Charles Heyman, editor of the British Army Guide, said: "Young
soldiers think it's brilliant that a member of the Royal Family will share
their hardships and dangers. It has a really good knock-on effect on morale
right across the armed forces.

"This is a young prince - a man in a privileged position - saying "I'm going
to do my duty, the same as ordinary soldiers do".

"It shows the Royal Family has a real stake in the armed forces, not just
ceremonial roles."

Harry had threatened to quit the Army if he was not allowed to serve in
battle, saying last year: "There's no way I'm going to put myself through
Sandhurst and then sit on my arse back home while my boys are out fighting
for their country."

One friend said: "He is desperate to be treated as one of the lads. He would
have felt totally humiliated if he had not been sent with the rest of his
men."

Another source within his regiment said: "I would say Harry is over the
moon. He joined the regiment to do what the regiment does."

But while the news was well received among his fellow soldiers, there were
warnings of wider implications for the Royal Family.

Omar Bakri Mohammed, the former British-based firebrand Islamic preacher
living in exile in Beirut, said radical Muslims in Britain would regard
Harry's deployment as "a provocation".

"I don't know why Prince Harry isn't sensitive enough to realise that this
will hurt the feelings of a lot of Muslims in Iraq and Great Britain," he
said.

"In Britain it will be seen as provocation because he represents the Queen,
the monarchy and the Church of England and that link could provoke Muslim
youths."

Bakri's British representative Anjem Choudary warned that the announcement
"did not bode well" for the Royal Family, although he stopped short of
predicting terrorist plots against them.

"The Queen talks about shared values between all religions, but her grandson
is going to be occupying a Muslim country. It doesn't bode well for the
Royal Family," he said.

The extremist website Ahl us-Sunnah wal- Jamaa'ah Muntadaa yesterday carried
a report on Harry's deployment headlined: "Prince Harry will be sent to Iraq
to kill Muslims."

It matters not however,

The Romans were of no proportion as regard the native population. They
employed Germans in the legions who tipped off their families back home to
make their move into Britain when Rome called the legions home. The Celts
who lived here were not that different from the Angles, Jute's, Saxons who
invaded. They in turn were very similar to the Danes and later Norman's who
would invade. They all mixed and I would hold that the British are not
really the mongrels that people often state that they are.

Well, looking at the pix you provided:

The eyes are totally different. Hewitt's are much bigger than Harry's.
The mouths are totally different. Hewitt has a full top lip, Harry has a
full lower lip. The noses are different. Harry's has more of a point.
Harry has a far pointier chin than Hewitt. I see no similarity
whatsoever between these two pix, myself.

But the European royal families were all interlinked. George I could trace
family back through the Scottish line accurately to Kenneth MacAlpin the
first Scotti to become King of the Picts in the 9thC. His mother was the
daughter of Princess Elizabeth Stuart. Similarly he could trace the English
line back through to the 1st millenium AD.

The Russian royalty and nobility did usually speak French among themselves.

Peter The Great wanted that -- among others.

It endured.

Russian was seen as a more primitive language.

Prince Harry was "over the moon" last night after being told he will be
going to Iraq within weeks.

Police release Eubank after Iraq truck protest

The retired world champion was seen driving up and down Whitehall in a lorry
bearing the slogan: "Blair, don't send our young prince to your catastrophic
illegal war to make it look plausible."

Talk about sitting target. Talk about a coup for the insurgents if they
can kill a potential future King of England.
The kid's a quarter Greek, isn't he?
No. His grandpappy, Phil the Greek, was born in Corfu, but was of the
Danish royal family.
Worse, those cartoonists did the crime of mocking the Prophet. Ok to
do Allah, but the big M is verbooten. (did you know that the on-line
English to Danish dictionaries do not have a word for "forbidden"?)

They play cricket in Corfu Town (Kerkyra) which they learned off the
British, terrible wicket and the only thing positive is that it suits slow
left arm spin.

The French and the Venetians also ruled over Corfu.

No - his father isn't Prince Charles.
It's a cricketer his slut of a mother had an affair with.
I forget his name now but he's the spitting image of his Dad.

Besides, if he did get killed it would be a coup for the west not the

Lots more idiots signing up to do battle with the 'infidels'.

To be honest with you I would say he resembles the Spencer's and in

That was the reason that Charles kicked Princess Diana down the staircase

As regards the red hair most of the apologists will claim that he inherited

Prince Harry can thank God for the media otherwise he would have been locked

Indeed -- SOME Of Prince Philip's Ancestors DID Come From
Schleswig-Holstein.

Prince Philip's Great-Grandfather was Christian IX, King of Denmark, who
died in 1906.

Christian IX's Father was Frederich Wilhelm Karl Leopold, Hertzog v.
Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg, who died in 1831.

However, Christian IX's Maternal Grandmother was Princess Louise v.
Oldenburg, daughter of Frederick V, King of Denmark.

The prussians were certainly involved, but this happened in 1864
and George became king of Greece in 1863

Anyway most of Slesvig (about 3/4) voted itself back to

Yep.
Given the status of our Royal Family, right or wrong, I feel the close heirs
in the military should resign themselves to non-active service.
It's all good gung-ho headlines for Harry, but could prove to be a terrible
embarrassment.
It's also tinged with a Royal endorsement of the whole Iraq thing, which is
not a good idea either.

How are we doing? Losing any yet?

That's the one disadvantage of being Scottish - we attract them like

kick in the knackers?

Can you imagine the horror of being English? No wonder Scotland is

trying to establish Scottish residency in case we decide to dump
England?

I had a right good belly laugh during the past week when one half of the
Lib/Lab pact was forced to say how sorry he was after calling the SNP
xenophobic. He was followed a couple of days later by the Labour MP George
Foulkes, (Baron Foulkes of Cumnock), on national TV also accusing the SNP of
being xenophobic. (No saying sorry here though).

The reply was swift and sure from Alex Salmond who pointed out that the only
Scottish Party leader NOT on the TV panel was the Labour Leader, and First
Minister, Jack McConnell, who was running so scared of the SNP he refuses to
even take part in public debates with the SNP leader. Not only that but the
past few weeks have seen both Brown and Blair in Scotland warning against
the SNP. Seems the Labour and Lib/Dem parties are now running so scared of
the SNP that their actions now speak very much louder than their words. I
cannot recall hearing a Labour statement of policy for a very long time -
just a whine and a diatribe against the SNP and Scottish Independence.

You do remember Baron Foulkes don't you? He was the one who claimed he would
personally go to Iraq and find the WMDs that Hans Blix said were not there.
see :- http://www.thejaggythistle.co.uk/sep03georgefoulkes.htm
What is more George is also a leading light at Tynecastle, the home of Heart
of Midlothian FC.
It really does my heart good to see such people squirm at the very thought
of the SNP outdoing Labour.

It is a stunt on the part of the Royals or whoever pulls their string to win
back some popularity. There is no way they will let Prince William go there
and if they were serious about him going into combat then he would be in
Afghanistan with the Royal Marines.

What they have is a half-wit who had his exams fixed so he could get into
Sandhurst. He was a dope smoking twat who was always in the shit and was
stupid enough to dress up as Hitler at his brothers party. Their spin
doctors and PR people have been jumping through hoops to try and make this
twat more appealing to the public.

Bollocks to it all, he wanted in and so he will have to serve like everyone

Good for him, is what I say. God knows, there are enough useless twats

|||||
|||
||| It is a stunt on the part of the Royals or whoever pulls their
||| string to win back some popularity. There is no way they will let
||| Prince William go there and if they were serious about him going
||| into combat then he would be in Afghanistan with the Royal Marines.
|||
||| What they have is a half-wit who had his exams fixed so he could
||| get into Sandhurst. He was a dope smoking twat who was always in
||| the shit and was stupid enough to dress up as Hitler at his
||| brothers party. Their spin doctors and PR people have been jumping
||| through hoops to try and make this twat more appealing to the
||| public.
|||
||| Bollocks to it all, he wanted in and so he will have to serve like
||| everyone else who has been there.
||
|| Good for him, is what I say. God knows, there are enough useless
|| twats in England who could accompany him and make sure he doesn't
|| come to any harm. A sort of protective suicide squad, ready to die
|| for something worthwhile for a change.
||
|| You've been a soldier - why don't you apply for the SAS! An old hand
|| who knows his way around would probably get an earldom at worst if he
|| brings the lad back home safely!
||

I am a bit old to go running "bollock naked" around the Brecon Beacons,
beautiful part of the country that it is. I am not sure how long he will be
there as it as just dawned on Bliar that we need more men in Afghanistan.
There is a Territorial squadron of the SAS in the barracks on the Kings Rd,
Chelsea. I would imagine that they are out there.

I am still trying to work out exactly what threat the Taliban are to this
country. It is a damned good job it is only the Taliban we are fighting and
not the united Mujihadeen that gave the Russians a kicking that they will
never forget.

The best part about it the CIA armed them with the "Stinger" and they did
not get half of them back. They could be anywhere between Kabul to Cairo
now.

Hilarious!

1. Gans, the chemistry teacher at NYU, won't SAY what he predicted, so we
have it in black and white on the page on 23 February 2007.

2. He's AFRAID to.

3. Why is Gans AFRAID to tell us what his predictions before the war were?

4. Because he doesn't want to be held to account and he doesn't know how
"The Surge" will turn out. Like HILLARY, he's VERY cautious.

5. He needs to quote chapter and verse what he predicted -- NOT tell people
to go hunting in Google.

6. Further, he still wants to tell us he "supports the troops".

7. Hilarious!

8. You can't support the TROOPS unless you also support their MISSION.

9. Can you imagine some pogue saying during World War II that he supported
the TROOPS, but did NOT support their mission? Ridiculous!

10. Gans lived through World War II. He was SIX when it began and TWELVE
when it ended.

11. Pogue Gans should know better than to post the arrant, errant rubbish
that he does.

12. Pogue Gans needs to stand and deliver with those allegedly prescient
PREDICTIONS he made -- ALL of them -- and tell us again why Iraq is BROKEN,
like an EGG -- one of his previous statements -- and can NOT possibly be put
back together again.

How Sweet It Is!

My position on the war can be Googled. I was quite
loud in alt.history.british before the war began.
Indeed Surreyman and I pretty much agreed on what
the results would be. And sadly, we were not
far off.

Talk about sitting target. Talk about a coup for the insurgents if they
can kill a potential future King of England.

The voice of reason.

I've never met so many gossips with so much inside information.
Have you?

Fresh from the back bars of London's nastier watering holes, no less!
I haven't noticed too many volunteers for Iraq leaving the ranks from
here... Bad backs and irregular heart-beats on every hand.

All this worrying about his troopers is crap; you don't give a fuck

cannonfodder - another timewasting item on the late evening news

If you get killed you get killed; that's your tough luck. If you don't
like it, go live in some country where the army surrenders before the
shooting starts. None of you have volunteered, so be grateful that one
young man has decided to put his life on the line so you can sit home

What would you know about combat if you don't mind me asking. If you had
seen it close up you would not have retorted in the way you have. War is
absolutely idiotic, it is lunacy and should be avoided at all costs.

War is inevitable at times that I accept but I am of the firm belief that
our forces should only be used for our country's defense. Not for the folly
and the ego of our idiot lying toe rag of a PM and that buffoon George Bush.

I do give a fuck what happens to those men and if it means that those men
are endangered because of this maverick Officer Prince then some fucker
should be rubbed out.

The Cavalry have always been the same, gung ho fuckwits leading them into
dangerous situations for their own glory. Prince fuckwit did not have the
necessary intelligence to join the Royal Navy so they packed the twat off to
the cavalry.

I can assure you that the officers in that regiment that I met were the
biggest arsehole's I ever met.

Report: James Hewitt is NOT Prince Harry's father.

DSH

Hewitt denies Prince Harry link
BBC News

Princess Diana's former lover James Hewitt has spoken out to end
persistent rumours that he is Prince Harry's father.

The former cavalry officer said people compared Harry's looks with his
own, but he stated categorically: "There really is no possibility whatsoever
that I am Harry's father. "I can absolutely assure you that I am not."

Prince Harry was "already walking" by the time his relationship with
Diana began, he told The Sunday Mirror.

Mr Hewitt was Diana Princess of Wales's secret lover for five years.

Speaking in the paper, he said: "Admittedly the red hair is similar to
mine and people say we look alike.

"I have never encouraged these comparisons and although I was with
Diana for a long time I must state once and for all that I'm not Harry's
father.

"When I met Diana, he was already a toddler."

Referring to portraits by fashion photographer Mario Testino, taken to
mark the Prince's 18th birthday a week ago, Hewitt said: "Looking at the
pictures I have to say he's a much more handsome chap than I ever was."

Spencer hair

He said he was aware the issue of Harry's paternity had been a major
talking point.

However, he said he did not meet the Princess, who died in 1997, until
two years after Harry was born.

St James's Palace declined to comment on Hewitt's comments.

In a book by Diana's former police bodyguard Ken Wharfe, the rumours
are also quashed.

Mr Wharfe said the gossip used to upset the Princess.

He said in his book: "The malicious rumours that still persist about
the paternity of Prince Harry used to anger Diana greatly.

"The nonsense should be scotched here and now.

"Harry was born on 15 September, 1984.

"Diana did not meet James until the summer of 1986, and the red hair,
gossips so love to cite as proof is, of course, a Spencer trait."

Indeed it is.

Well I am pretty sure that Prince Charles is not his father !

Just because a donkey is born in a stable does not mean that it is a horse

Yes indeed young Prince Harry Hewitt followed in his fathers (Major James)
footsteps by joining the " Blues and Royals". I would imagine the they will
be subject to more danger than is normal due to the fact young Hewitt is
with the troop. That is just what the insurgents have been hoping for.

I hope they don't go around with their boots in polythene bags as they did
during the Falklands War !

I hope that this is a bluff by Anjem Choudary because the opposite is
that there are a large number of traitors in the UK and possibly the
USA.
