Full Encryption Problem

Hello,

I have encrypted my whole HD (4 primary partitions) with Truecrypt.
Everything seems to work fine.
I try to formulate my “problem”. When I have an encrypted file and I
investigate this file with a Hex-Editor (I have WinHex) I can see that
the file is really encrypted (i.e. Winhex does some file statistics
and among other things tells me that all characters in the file have
the same occurrence).
But what if I have encrypted my whole HD and want to take a look at
it. I guess I have to do it from “outside” the HD. But when I boot my
system with a special boot disk I can’t get access to the HD. Can
anyone tell me how to get it right?
Thanks a lot.

You're using the wrong encryption software, thats the best place to start.

Use windows PE CD/DVD with WinHex.

Hallo,

thanks for your answer. This was exactly what I was looking for. I
build a Bart PE Boot Disk with WinHex included. I have 2 identical
harddisks on different (test-) PCs. Both are fully encrypted, one with
DCPP and the other with TrueCrypt. WinHex statistics showed the same
results on both disks. The occurrence of each character is exactly
0.39% which means a perfect uniform distribution. Further WinHex knows
on both systems that there are 4 partitions and their sizes. I wonder
that those informations are obviosly not encrypted.
Now I'm happy to have "seen" the encrpted disk (seems to be silly, but
TrueCrypt and DCPP are programms where you normaly can never see the
results of what they are doing, but now I did).
Thanks again and

schöne Grüße
