I couldn't carry
the weight of the world
Now as well
These pretty guards
My social disadvantage
Pacing up and down
Waiting for the cowbells
The still of traffic
Home
Under a red heat lamp
Destroying all I have learned
While emptying the memories
From my head.

Not that it specifically relates to the actual poem (but it is possible with your in depth knowledge of 1980s rock music, George) but the title to this one keeps making me remember the old Devo tune, on of their best, "Jerking Back and Forth For you"...

Or, as I find now, the proper title is "Jerkin' Back 'n' Forth":

The early 1980s was an interesting time for rock music, as we all got haircuts and lusted for new boots and contracts.

No, I don't think so, at all. I don't think George minds questions, he's a bit like me and you, we all love telling our stories.

One important story about George Sulzbach, is his nearly fatal car accident almost exactly a year ago, an event he often names as a turning point in his life, and one I know he won't mind me sharing with you and the other regulars, in fact I don't even know if he's seen all the news blurbs on his car wreck himself, George being such a newbie to the internet scene.

Here's another version of the story of the car wreck thatnearly killed George, and did kill his girl friend Sydne. She was a nice lady, I miss her.

Sydne Conder, 59, killed and another wounded in 2 vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 431 north of Phenix City, Alabama

Modified Date:
Wed, 02/03/2016 - 9:32am
Accident Date:
Thursday, August 13, 2015

1 dead, 1 injured in 2-vehicle wreck in Lee County
(link is external)
A two-vehicle wreck on Thursday claimed the life of a Smiths Station woman, and left another person injured, according to Alabama State Troopers. Sydne Conder, 59, was killed when the 1994 Chevrolet Metro she was driving collided with a 2011 Chevrolet Corvette. Conder, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Metro was transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 431, approximately four miles north of Phenix City at the 120 mile marker.
=============================================================

I added this note, which the site may add to the details later:

George Sulzbach was the person named with the "other passenger" in the car wreck that killed Syde Conder last year... it would be good to add his name to the report, for accuracy.

And so it goes...

Why not just explain it rather than forget it and let the reader decide how stupid it might be?
