One of the greats and a wonderful role model, until he started the black power salute like it was the Mexico Olympics and he was stunning and brave.

I love watching the real racers like Lewis, Alonso, Max; Prost was a great, but he always seemed to just do enough.

Reminds me of Jessica Ennis in 2012 when she needed to finish fifth in the final race to win Gold in the Decathlon, but she just went out and blew everyone away.

Strangely, I really don't enjoy that kind of ruthlessness in other sports, e.g. NZ putting 140 points on Japan.I

Actually, doing "just enough" is a very important trait in a "real racer"

For car racing, there are two important considerations:

1. You have to get the car to the finish to get any points (usually).

2. Driving too far outside your rhythm. No less a driver than Ayrton
Senna crashed almost immediately after his team told him to slow down.

No. As usual you are tacitly implying that it was simply the car, and
little to do with HAM, that won the race.

I like how Toto was getting at Ferrari, basically saying that them cheating with their engines in
previous years (but especially last year) forced Mercedes to make yet another step up in power for
this year. I do believe he even thanked them for helping to improve the Mercedes!

No. As usual you are tacitly implying that it was simply the car, and

Nope. It clearly wasn't JUST the car, and Hamilton had quite a lot to do
with it.

But him winning it what most definitely IS the best car out there and
not by a little doesn't make him the DRIVER "the class of the field".

In equal machinery, I think Verstappen beats him for instance.

Well there'd only be one way to prove that. And even then somebody would
be saying Max's car had bee turned down in some way.

Indeed.

But is there anyone knowledgeable (which lets you out) actually saying
that there is any car out there close to the Mercedes this year?

Hell, Racing Point in their copy of last year's Mercedes are suddenly
looking pretty racy. If that doesn't tell you something, there's not
much hope for you.

Is he better than Bottas? Sure.

But it has also been noted that the Hungaroring is a track which suits
Lewis particularly well.
