[SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Erlands commercial plugins available for free

I started to develop my first Squeezebox plugin in beginning of 2006 and
now more than 11 years later I've decided to release all my commercial
plugins for free.

This means that neither License Manager plugin nor a license is required
to run the latest version of my commercial plugins. The free versions
contains the same functionality as the latest commercial versions but
with the license checks removed.

This means that the following plugins/applets are now available for
free:
- Album Flow
- Custom Browse
- Custom Clock/Custom Clock Helper
- Custom Libraries
- Custom Scan
- Custom Skip
- Dynamic Playlist
- Multi Library
- SQL Playlist
- Screen Switcher
- Title Switcher
- TrackStat

The new versions of my plugins is available in my repository:

They will also appear in the central repository as soon as the central
repository has been updated.

Please let me know through this thread if I've accidentally broken any
of the plugins when I removed the license checks.

The reason I've decided to release them for free is because I feel I no
longer have the time to maintain them as much as needed to justify a
license fee.
I also feel it's important that the plugins continue to work even if my
license server would break, so I felt it was a better to completely
remove the license checks instead of just offering everyone a free
license.

I doubt anyone is interested to take over the maintenance but please let
me know if you are, I'm happy to spend some time to answer questions
regarding the code if someone is interested to take over the
maintenance.

The Custom Browse, SQL Playlist and Custom Scan plugins has also been
updated to be compatible with LMS 7.9, so hopefully this means that all
my plugins should now be compatible with the latest LMS release.

Finally I'd like to take the chance to send a big "Thank You" to
everyone who have donated money or purchased licenses to my plugins. The
plugins wouldn't have been what they are today without your contribution
and the received money have encourgaged me to continue the maintenance
as long as I have. I'll try to continue to fix issues caused by new LMS
versions, so all this doesn't mean that I'll stop maintainig the plugins
completely, but any issues might not be fixed until I've upgraded my own
setup to a new LMS version.

I think it's great to see that this community is still active and new
plugins have been released every time I visit the forum.

Perhaps that's also a place for a donation link. I think everyone that'
s still uses lms know that it would not exists without the effort of a
few people and if one uses a product of such a volunteer then a donation
would be in place. Anyway thanks for time & effort so far.

I executed the script myself before your post so that probably caused
the confusion, the central repository file seems to contain the correct
versions now.

I have to restart the whole server, when I try to download latest
playlists and queries for SQL-Playlist and Database Query. The server
hangs...

Could you please fix it?

Thanks for reporting, I think this has been broken since sometime last
year when I changed my server infrastructure.
Will try to fix it but it's likely going take some time, looks like it's
related to my server infrastructure not working properly.

For now I would advice people to NOT use the download buttons in SQL
Playlist, Custom Browse and Multi Library plugins as they will likely
hang the server.

After updating CustomClockHelper my custom themes are gone. :(

They are on my radios and touches but not on the server. Any chance to
restore them from the devices by ssh?

Did you just update or did you delete something else ?
Just updating shouldn't remove any styles as far as I know

The styles are stored in customclockhelper.prefs file, so if you can get
that from a backup it would be a solution.

Your customized styles are stored in a "styles" property in the
customclockhelper.prefs file, since it doesn't exist in your setup you
don't seem to have any customized styles in your setup or the
customclockhelper.prefs file have been deleted during the upgrade
process for some reason. It's not deleted automatically by LMS, at least
that did not happen in my setup.

The styles on the device is stored in
/etc/squeezeplay/userpath/settings/CustomClock.lua, so if the style on
the device is correct I suggest that you ASAP login via ssh and take a
backup of this file. As I mentioned earlier it's based on a different
format so it can't easily be imported in Custom Clock Helper but you can
at least open it in a text editor and take the values from it when you
configure a new style. If you format it with a JSON formatter its a bit
easier to read.

The predefined styles aren't bundled in the plugin/applet, they are
downloaded from the following file online:

cent. Had so much fun making new clock styles, also Trackstat and Screen
Switcher were really useful.

If you want customize a style or create your own you do this through

day, and they make a big difference to how I access and play my music.

I recently re-installed the 'full text search' plugin, having updated
Custom Browse etc yesterday (21st July). I've updated LMS to the latest
I could find - Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.1 - 1499900819 @ Thu
Jul 13 04:20:16 UTC 2017.

Using the LMS menu search function, the Advanced search works, but
typing something into the initial search box never returns anything. I
always get 'No search results'.

I know there used to be a conflict with some of these plugins and "full
text search', so I don't know if this behaviour is expected, or due to
these latest plugin versions, or the 'full text search' plugin.

Same prob. If I disable the download of artist images while rescan in
the artistinfo plugin it works.

If download artist images is enabled while rescan no artist image is
downloaded an rescan failed.

Silly of me - I didn't do a rescan before trying the search. I have now
rescanned and all now works as expected.

Thanks Erland for providing these addins and maintaining them for so
long. I would have given up on SB altogether a long time ago if it
hadn't been for your multilbrary addin. It continues to amaze me that
the Squeezebox community is still going strong after all this time. The
effort you've put in is greatly appreciated!

The SQLite directory only contains dbcreate.sql and dbindex.sql. My
customscan_track_attributes table contains the 3 extra columns (and has
done for many a year).

My system is running OK, and has had a complete rescan, but I haven't
started from a completely empty cache directory. Is this something to
be concerned about?

Please don't think I'm complaining - I'm not - your plugins have been,
and still are, incredibly useful. I wouldn't still use LMS without
them.

So, here is one other log item I've noticed, just as a (hopefully
helpful) comment. I think it came up when I selected the 'Dynamic
Playlist' menu item, although I didn't use the trackstat selection.

I added a warning message to Scanner.pm to find out what was going
wrong. The $@ message on the eval checking for the valuesort column

Now I know almost no perl at all (I spent a while finding out what $@
meant), but I guess this means something like the database hasn't been
opened.

It would be nice to clean up the log, but I realise it's very low
priority.

May I add my thanks to Erland for developing and maintaining these. I
have a lifetime licence for Dynamic Playlist which I have used for many
years. I use it to randomize large playlists (I know LMS can do this by
itself but it takes forever with a big playlist, or at least it used to,
whereas Dynamic Playlist just does it.) I've just upgraded to LMS 7.9
and the latest version of Dynamic Playlist, which is working perfectly
(once I spotted there were new options to get it to show the playlists
:) ). Thanks again Erland - it's much appreciated.

Same for me, LMS is excellent, and with your plugins, it's another step
forward. I bought a lifetime licence and never regretted it, by the
contrary !

By the way Erland, I know it not the right moment but my LMS is running
on a RPI 3 and I have performance issues with trackstat. When I change a
rating, it takes a looooong time (more than 10s) to be performed and I
cannot do anything during that time. I have 17k tracks in my library
wich is on a usb drive connected to the RPI and the RPI is only used as
a LMS server. Do you have some advice to speed up this ?

I am running LMS 7.9.1 in a Docker container on a QNAP TS253-pro.

I have added the repository
http://erland.github.io/squeezebox-downloads/repositories/latest.xml and
there is an item "Erland's plugins and applets" from the Plugins page in
Server Settings.

When I select any item to install, I get the "Click here to restart the
server" dialog. However, when I click "Restart now", the page reloads
with the plugin listed under "Updated plugins available". So I select
the plugin, click Apply. But it never restarts the server and
continually shows the item in "Updated plugins available".

Am able to install all other plugins without problem.

I can download the .zip archive of the plugin from URL in the
repositories/latest.xml file. But I don't know where to put it in the
Docker. Can I unpack it into "cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/" folder?

You might try waiting a few minutes before clicking on "Click here to
restart the server" dialog - it may not have completed downloading the
updated plugin file before you restart. If that still doesn't work, you
can turn-on additional logging within LMS to try to see what's going
wrong.

I am setting up a new version of LMS on Max2Play. I have had Custom
Browse implemented on my old LMS implementations for many years. However
I cannot install it now on my new one. Just as described above on
restart it is never implemented but goes back to an untiched box in the
available list.

Any help would be much appreciated. I really need this plugin to make
sense of my classical music collection.

You might try stopping LMS, clearing the cache.db files, and also any
files in DownloadedPlugins.

Well I know almost nothing about max2play and Docker either :)

If LMS in the Docker is linux-based, then there should a directory
called /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache. In there when LMS is stopped
there should a file called cache.db, and a directory called
DownloadedPlugins. Delete them if you can. This may require that you
use sudo (i.e. "sudo rm cache.db" and "sudo rmdir DownloadedPlugins").
Hopefully that will just ask you for your normal linux password and it
will work. If this doesn't work you may need to brush up on some linux
skills, or maybe someone here will have more ideas. If your LMS is
windows-based the two files will be the same, but the directory
structure and permissions may well be different and it's too many years
since I last mucked around with (and was mucked around by) Windows.

I was having the same problem. I needed to re-install SB and downloaded
version 7.7 from logitech's site and then immediately upgraded to 7.9
When I tried install any of erlands plug-ins it would not install
(similar response as other people have described). Installing other
plug-ins worked fine. Then I decided to start from scratch (again) but
this time download and install 7.7 only and then try installing erland's
plug-ins. No problem! So, it looks to me that this issue popped up when
trying to install his plug-ins with the latest 7.9 version. Anyone else
get a different scenario?

As a matter of interest how long do you wait before restarting LMS? I
vaguely recall people talking about the process needing a bit of time
before the restart (this may, of course, be a false memory - I have
quite a few of those...).

You could also try adding this repo to the list at the bottom of the
plugin page. I have it in my list - I don't remember why.

Have you tried including more logging? I'm not much good at that
myself, but it might give a clue as to what is going wrong.

Looking at the list of options (Settings, Advanced, Logging),
network.repositories, plugin.extensions, server.plugins and so on may
give some useful information. I'm sure others on this forum will know
much more than I which are the right ones to pick. You will probably
need to tick the box near the top to preserve the settings over a
restart (many is the time I've forgotten to do that and wondered where
the logs have gone),

So yes indeed. There we have it. I would say that has the problem
isolated. But what can we do about it? Is there any way of manually

As the problem was first reported very recently it occurred to me that
it must have been introduced recently too, and 7.9.0 has been around for
a while. My max2play is happy with 7.9.0 so I tried that and yipee - it
does implement Custom Browse OK.
So if anyone else has this problem just go back to 7.9.0 and you should
be OK. Phew!

It's not setting keep-alive. I was wondering whether sending the file as
an attachment was causing the problem somehow.

Not sure what’s set automatically but it neither seems to set keep-alive
nor Content-Length explicitly.
If I need to do something on my end it’s going to take some time, not
sure I still have a working build environment for this old code.

Just to inform that I don't have performance problems anymore. I didn't
change anything, I just disabled the trackstat history logging in
plugins parameters. I don't know if it changed anything, because it
didn't make any difference at the moment.

Thanks for the update to make compatible with LMS 7.9.

I notice that TrackStat WebUI doesn't list artists. For example, I see:

1. Ghost In The Machine by , from The Annazaal Tapes
2. 731 by , , , , from The Annazaal Tapes

And also clicking on the star rating on the Home > Song Info screen doesn't update (it does set the rating, but looks like it hasn't).

Maybe these have been broken for some time, I can't remember if this was when I moved to LMS 7.9.

When I view tracks on the TtrackStat WebUI I see the same format of
track info as I see in the Web track listing when playing tracks,
defined in Settings, Interfaces. I see the Artist(s) listed in the same
way. Do you see different information?

My track information is defined as DISC-TRACKNUM: TITLE (COMPOSER) -

That information did the trick! I changed the selection in 'Settings
-Interface - Title Format' and that indeed changed the information given
by TrackStat. I had no idea there was a relation between the two. Thanks

Hi, I am also on longtime :-) lifetime license owner and use trackstat
all the time. Recently I upgraded to 7.91 and now none of Erlands
plugins are loading. I check the box next to them, restart, and then
.... nothing. Has anyone else come across this? What do I do, apart from
lie down and cry? I have been through the the forum, and tried the
various obvious things like included the github link for Erlands plugins
at the bottom of the plugins page. A separate section for the plugins
then comes up, but still no joy loading them.

In post #48 on this thread it seems that for some users at least
reverting to 7.9.0 does the trick. I'm not sure what the result of
mherger and erland's investigations was.

Suffice to say I'm quite nervous about this. Some time ago I downloaded
all the plugins I need from erland's website
(http://erland.isaksson.info/), so could try to do manual installations
if I really have to. However, that website does not seem to include the
sequeezebox downloads any more. I have, instead, manually downloaded
from him using the individual zips from
https://erland.github.io/squeezebox-downloads/repositories/latest.xml

I haven't myself had to try to install from scratch on 7.9.1 so I won't
know if it's been fixed or not. Maybe drop a line to mherger?

- your server is not setting the keep-alive flag, but is expecting the
client to wait for more data.

Do yourself a favour and get rid of your own server code. File hosting
shouldn't require custom code maintenance.

What 7.9.1 build are you using? I did apply a change about five weeks
ago which fixes the problem for me. Downloading and installing Erland's
plugins is working fine for me.

I just tried installing another one of Erland's plugins. On a roughly 2
month old version of LMS 7.9.1 it didn't install. On last nights LMS
(7.9.1 - 1513400996 @ Sat Dec 16 06:26:04 UTC 2017) it installed OK.

At midnight, my license for CustomClock on the Radio said it expired and
needed to be updated. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the new, free
version to appear in the PlugIn screen or be updated. I see all of the
other Erland plugins, including the CustomClockHelper. But no
CustomClock.

Confusing; it's not a "plugin" but an "applet". You install it via the
Radio: Main Menu > Settings > Advanced > Applet Installer. If like
mine, you should get a message there that an applet needs updating.

Does it cause any error besides the log message ?
The tables are correctly created even if you get this error, it’s caused
by trying to make the plugin compatible with both SQLite and MySQL and
this file is only required for MySQL.

I'm really sorry...tried to find the Custom Clock Applet, but i can't
found it...i run the newest nightly and tried the stable version, add
the http://erland.github.io/squeezebox-downloads/repositories/latest.xml
I only find custom clock helper and custom browse etc.
I'm running LMS on max2play and would love to have the smae vu meter
like in the picoreplayer for the rapsberry pi with the original 7inch
display...

The applet runs on your squeeze device - mine is a Touch. I use the
Touch menu to download the applet.

first i want to say thank you Philippe for the great work of the
UPnP-DLNA bridge!

Now to my problem:

My Hardware / Software: QNAP SS-439 (Intel x86) with LMS (Version: 7.9.2
- 1539967036) and UPnP-DLNA bridge (Version: 1.6.3) and a BOSE
SoundTouch 20 (Firmware: 19.0.13)

I want to stream my music from my NAS (QNAP) to my BOSE SoundTouch 20
with the Logitech Media Server GUI.

At first it works! :-)

But my problem is that the BOSE SoundTouch 20 only plays one title of my
music list. If i click a title in the music list to play it works - but
if the title ends the next wont play till i stop and start or restart
the UPnP-DLNA bridge.

So please can you tell me what i am doing wrong!?

Could it help if I post the configuration file (upnpbridge.xml) here?

My apologies if this has been asked and answered a million times....

I'm still using LMS Version: 7.9.0 - 1479378558 (things have just
worked, and I haven't wanted to screw up a good thing). I was having
some issues that caused me to deactivate and reactivate all my plug-ins,
and for some reason Title Switcher is the only one of my essential
plug-ins that won't load. It appears we're up to version 1.3.23
now...I'm not sure if that was the last workable version for me or not.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of how I may resolve the
issue? Many thanks...I'm pleased this forum is still active. I still
can't believe after all these years LMS is still the best software for
listening to my music collection!

running piCorePlayer. Mac Mini as a server (OS X Yosemite). Direct
Ethernet connection (1-SB3 and the Raspberry Pi) and power-line (1-SB3

If anyone is interested, I have a now-playing clock for the Touch that
shows quite a bit more data, such as:

playlist number and no on playlist
track year
trackstat rating
track sample-rate/bit-size
track title
track artists(s)
composer
conductor
band
album artist
album name
album icon


This is mainly useful for classical music if you have populated some of
these fields. Because there is quite a lot of it, some of it is quite
small, and it all has the option to scroll (I have tracks with 7 or 8
'track artists'), so it's only useful if you are fairly close to the
Touch.

How can I check if I have the latest version of your plugins?
And what about Spicefly SugarCube? Will this still work if your license
server stops working?

You should see the plugin versions installed in LMS Settings/Plugins

Spicefly SugarCube would be unable to verify its license if my license
server stops working. License is checked if old license expires or if a
new version of either License Manager plugin or Spicefly SugarCube
plugin is installed. So if you have a life time license and have a
backup of both plugins and their prefs files there won’t be any
dependency to my server since the license would not have to be verified
again. I don’t have any plans to shutdown my license server. If you want
Spicefly SugarCube to be independent of my server you will have to
discuss this with the developer of Spicefly SugarCube.
