Don't worry, at month's end NIWA will tell us that it was the 5th
warmest February since records started. Feeling warmer already?

The Thames froze over around Teddington last week. That's near Twickenham.

Looking at a variety of weather from around the world the global warmers
are going to be very quiet this year.
All the US is freezing (yup Texas)worst in years...

Probably, George - after all the abnormal weather events around the
world speak for themselves, don't they? There are very few people who
have not realised that the world climate is changing; that weather
patterns are not all the same as they used to be.

Climate changing, do you think George? What else would be causing
that?

There's a chap in the BBS message network I'm part of (fsxNet) that runs a
HUB and it's currently 'down' as his place in Texas was slammed and he's
without power or internet.. poor fellow hope he can dig himself out of
what seems like a truly horrible weather event. :(

On the Texans I agree :)

Yes me too, back in the 90's in Hamilton I was running one that I ended up
restarting around 2013. Details at bbs.nz if curious. I also run a FTN
message network called fsxNet (fsxnet.nz) that has around 250 BBS
connected to it from around the globe.

The chatter there is helpful and conversational and mostly a bunch of
middle aged guys reliving their youth and amazed that the stuff still
works etc :)

During the early 60's I lived in the house on the corner of Manor Rd/Ferry Rd adjacent to Teddington Weir and Lock. During The UK's seemingly interminable winters sash windows and frugal coal fires ensured it was colder than charity. The Lock froze over during the long-drawn-out big chill of 1962/63 which, combined with the heavy atmospheric pollution of the times, took the lives of far too many. Just round the corner from Ferry Rd was Broom Rd and the ITV studios that hosted the Benny Hill Show, one among numberless other light entertainment shows, dramas and "serious" productions.

For those interested, here's where they were all conceived and produced, together with the long list of "credits" (familiar to many of you) that attest to its all-time worldwide fame and reputation:

I think we were robbed of summer down here in Dunners... but it looks like
the North Island did pretty well... well at least the pictures on the
telly make it look the way... sigh :)

Nice to meet you.

Sorry I'm late to the party to reply to this thread I kicked off!

Yes nutty stuff indeed.

Hey nice to see some chatter that is not all about New Zealand politics
and who is good, bad or otherwise in that arena... seems nz.general became
nz.politics :(

I'm hanging out to look at the live coverage of the NASA landing on Mars
tomorrow... hope it goes well for them.
