For Nico (and others who were not at the Clacton event),
What Peter Moore said about 648 at the event was simply he doesn't know when it will be on air and transmitter site negotiations continue.
The impression given was that at least one of the prospects would not require Radio Caroline to build a new structure.
Make of that what you choose.
I found the Clacton event very interesting.
A few other things Peter Moore said were also significant in my view. In particular that the Ross Revenge ownership issue has been resolved to his satisfaction (establishing ownership via a marine court). Corrections welcomed from anyone who followed all the twists and turns of that story.
The display of memorabilia was very interesting and extensive and the radio ship models were splendid. The chap who makes them had done Radio London and Radio Scotland to add to his fleet since the Rochester event.
Thanks to everyone who put what must have been considerable effort into then organising of the event.

Hi All, as for tranmiters site, wold the ross revenge the best place, as i now in the winter it gan be very gold on ships and with the inside water damps it wil do no good to alle the eqpment in the ship and studios. i have seen that over the years that you gat ocidadtion in site the mixer and othere transmiting epqwitment also computers dond like the gold in the winter in side a gold ship.
So it will be best to spend some more many on fuel and run the ship 24/7 so evry compart ment stay worm, Same as in the old days on the north sea.
Please give this to peter more and othere people wo are involtd for the location of transmitters.
Cheers Richard Kuttschreutter.

Hey, guys. I recorded the show off of FM (how very old school!) and I've uploaded it to Dropbox:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fatnait2qrc42d1/2017%2008%2014%20Mon%20BBC%20Radio%202%20FM%20-%20Johnnie%20Walker%20Meets%20The%20Pirates.mp3?dl=0
It's the usual mixture of half-assed research and dodgy quality clips, but interesting for some of the interviews with ageing DJs.

I've just uploaded a couple of 60s recordings to Dropbox.
The first one is from Radio London and it was originally dated 2 May 1966, but from internal evidence I'm convinced it's actually 67. It features Lorne King, The Swinging Sounds of Silver (a daft competition where listeners had to guees how much money was being dropped into a pot just from the sound of the coins) and Mark Roman. It's a very crackly recording, but the quality's quite good and I'm not sure if it's actually on azanorak.
The second file is a newly-restored version of The Auntie Mabel Hour Christmas Panto, Margie in Wonderloafland, which is very funny if you get all the obscure 60s references!.
Most of this comes from a tape I acquired in the 70s which has very good treble response but is missing the start and finish and a couple of lines near the end. The rest comes from a downloaded recording which has the start and finish but in inferior quality.
I've edited the two recordings together as seamlessly as I could, then painstakingly removed about three billion clicks and dropouts and added a judicious amount of noise reduction (though I assure you, not enough to cause egregious artifacts!!!).
The result still has a few moments where a word or two has been lost, but it's the most complete and best quality version I could put together from the avalable materials. Now I'm going to collapse in the corner and rest my aching fingers.

Hi, Lee. The Radio London recording has been on Azanorak since 2008, here:
http://azanorak.com/pub/Stations/London/19660502Mon1458-1530RLondon-LorneKing,MarkRoman-RomanEmpire.zip
However, I agree with you, it should be dated 1967 and not 1966. Lorne King did not join the station until February 1967. So, I'll compare your recording with mine, and repost the better of the two with the 1967 date. Thank you for uploading.
Ray.

It only works for scheduled "Listen again" programmes, not "magazine" pages
- for this show it's http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09039p2 .
