California 's low number of cases has to be viewed in light of 2/3 of test administered have not been completed and state has not given many tests anyway.
On the micro front banks no longer let people thru the door, drive thru or walk up only. Local Wells Fargo does not have walk up, have yo make an appointment if you lack a car. Wal mart had a long line wainting outside today, a first, passed it up. A lacl of cashiers has created problems in store at Shop rite and Stop and Shop.
A very big concern is will food workers get sick and be unable by law to work ? What happens to food supply and panic buying then ?
Entire Federal policy is centered on a June " miracle " recovery and business as usual. Most likely outcome is a smaller but steady number of new cases unless warm weather kills the virus. Back to work would bring about the big blue graph that administration is crowing it has avoided.
I continue to be slightly feverish as I suspect is true for many people. Vet offices are closing if one person on the staff tests positive. As it looks now the present approach will be seen as hair - brained,

WalMart has started a 20% of capacity limit it its stores. Given the number of people I've seem when there the number of customers waiting outside the store will be unacceptable to me . I'll have to use the less busy stores. Good thing I'm pretty stocked up now. This will create panic buying and stocking up . Just getting things done that have to be done will make this a constant pain in the ass. End result will be new infections will flatten out but stay steady and any back to normal attempts will be a fiasco. That malaria drug seems not to be so hot.

My new favorite Chin - V absurdity was at the Stop and Shop today. Brilliant manGER HAD ALL CUSTOMERS TRYING TO PAY FORM ONE LINE...ALL THE WAY UP ONE AISLE AND DOWN THE NEXT FOR THE 3 CASHIERS WHO WERE WORKING. eVERYBODY HAD TO BE IN THAT ONE LINE even to use the six self service machines which had zero customers...did not take me long to walk out tho I had some good stuff in the cart.
Walmart has gone to a 20% of capacity max. I can see hour long waits to get into the store.
Did see one Stop and Shop employee wearing a face shield which should, unlike the masks, work pretty well. No way any of this is going to get new infections down to levels that will cause the virus to go away. When this happens Trump will blame the public ( which he has already starting doing ) and Democrats some how.
The Fake medical predictions are an easy fit for the fake you name its in this absurdity. The exchanges between reporters who complain Trump and his crew dodge questions and Trump's anger at their efforts does remind me of Siskel & Ebert.
Trump likes to from time to time throw in some line about how patriotic Americans have been, does not do this nearly as often as his predictions of a soon to come even greater America.
If the time comes when the curve does not go to anything like zero Trump will blame Americans for nor complying with his genius edicts much like Hitler did with the Volk at the end of WW2. He may even hint at steps he will be forced to take to save the situation. Could happen.

Have not gotten a clear idea of how far Orange Genius can go with butting into affairs of individuals. Seems to be a state sovereignty matter.
Near term focus may come down to the curve and getting back to normal.

Projected deaths wold have to be 50 X higher to mean much in the big picture.

Trump had promised that the " flu " would be gone in April. Now it's gonna be gone in June. When that time comes and the chart of new infections has flattened out...but not at zero, still in the many thousands, what will happen then ?
People are becoming increasing aware that for 97 % of the popolation Chin - V is a very mild problem ( tho the dumbasses still don't realize mask wearing is to prevent transmission by the wearer only ) and they, and industry will be strongly pushing to get back to normal.
" Normal " will mean maybe eventually everybody getting the virus andmaybe 1 - 3 million deaths, hardly a big deal in the big picture but Trump will have the stigma of the " big blue " chart to haunt him. He and the public were suppossed to prevent the worst scenario from happening. Country can only stay locked down for so long before the lack of production/employment causes a true world wide depression.
The world's reaction about how to punish China for the misinforation it generated could lead to a boycott of Chinese goods causing havoc there. Would be a battle of money rather than sentiment.
Walmart is still good if you get there when the store opens. I continue to stock up.Don't trust breakdowns in the supply system due to prohibitions of sick people continuing to work in the food industry.
It's still early on in the lockdown. In a few weeks the idea of " coming together " will be replaced by a then or us sentiment ...if the virus is still around.
I see some products in Stop and Shop such as sweets from smaller companies and rolls no longer available.
Will still take a long time for the virus to reach parts of America far from major population centers but if this continues 100% of the country will be affected. If you're sickly the clock may be ticking...not very sexy for a movie plot.

Probably it would be up to the states to open businesses which would create a free for all between business, old people, healthy people and hospitals. If this happens the political system will get one hellofa shake and China could be the target of the biggest national anger since WW2.

As of Sunday the Italian graph of new cases is not following the symmetrical nonsense graphs from the white house. It is looking like a less than peak but still high rate of new infections level off. When the Ellen Burstyn doc on the Trump Amen Corner starts to get asked about she will dance around the room . Maybe some of the reporters will start to pin Trump and company to the wall. I'm waiting for the, "Mr. President, in February you said it will all be over in April, then you said June, what month or year will you pull out of your fat ass now "? question and answer.

An increasing number of old people have become aware that CHIN - V is not an annoyance ...it can easily kill them. Many retired people have forsaken their part time jobs to stay safe.
If the time comes when Trump , instead of imposing a nation wide shutdown, chooses to open up the country while the virus is active old people may rightly see themselves as being sacrificed for the general good. Where are the grey panthers now ?
Today is Palm Sunday. If the religious nutters just went away the world would be a duller place, Trump just can't go away, he let it in, let him orchestrate the coming body count. Bet he's watching the Italian data daily. Hitler was great with speeches, style over substance , and papa Joe had " the look " and cutsey wave, Roosevelt the endless avuncular bullshit ( never ended the depression , Winny the gruff stiff upper lip and cigar, but our Trump is just plain fun to listen to. His crankiness, attacks on those near and far, obvious self - serving platitudes and " fake " everythings and tweets now part of my daily life. God bless this mess.
