Discussion:
I have an iso for Dell Inspiron DUO ics4.0RC2/tegav2 based for testing

This is an iso for testing the various features of ics4.0RC2 on the Dell
Inspiron DUO.
It is based on the tegav2 version, but includes automatic screen rotation
and the use of the physical keyboard.
Thanks to Chih-Wey for help in making it work and Luke Ross for finding
the driver source.

Known Problems(still working on resolving them):
1. After pause/resume, the rotation stops working.
2. The optimum angles at which the screen flips need to be found.
3. The physical keyboard map uses the default ATKBD map and this is not
totally correct. I need to work out which is the best map.

Flipping between physical and screen keyboard:
When in an input field, a little keyboard icon appears at the right bottom
of the screen. Tap it and enable/disable physical keyboard.

Notes:
The arrow keys no longer flip the screen.
You can disable rotation in settings.

Please add other problems found to this thread.

It is NOT a thread for HELP, it is for documenting faults so they can get
fixed/improved.

It is too big to attach, so I don't know where to put it.

You could get Dropbox or SkyDrive. They both allow you to share files. If
you use this link:

http://db.tt/3kDo5cNK

you get 2.2 GB free Dropbox space.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for all the hard work. Just downloaded the image and I will
give it a testdrive.
Since I also have Windows 8 running on the Duo I will first use the Live
USB edition to see how things work out.

Many thanks,

Here is the link to a much improved version:
https://rapidshare.com/files/3777967975/tegav2.iso
1. It includes arm support(libhoudini). Tested with angry birds and it
worked, so I guess it is OK.
2. Important apps added.
3. Rotation limits improved. I would like comments on that.
4. Can switch off by double pressing the power switch quickly.

Outstanding issues:
1. Pause/resume causes the rotation to fail.
2. The " and @ keys are reversed. I don’t know what the key-codes are and
what their new values should be to fix this problem.
I tried xev on on my desktop, but it doesn't match the key-codes in the
key-layout file.

Here is a fix for UK keyboard only (I dont know how to make it pick the
Generic_uk.kcm file for translation. I think dynamic maps are only
supported from 4.1 onwards.

It only works if you have installed to hard disk and made system directory
writable during installation.

1. Back up /system/usr/keychars/Generic.kcm .
2. Copy the attached file to /system/usr/keychars/Generic.kcm on your DUO.
3. Restart.
The keyboard will now have UK keymaps with " and @ in the right place as
will be various other keys.

If you wish to adapt your keyboard layout, you can edit the file
/system/usr/keychars/Generic.kcm - it is fairly self-explanatory how it
works with a 'base' key, a shifted key, an alt(left or right) etc etc.
Unicode characters can be mapped, go here for a LOT of unicode values and
what they represent:http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/en/general-info/unicode.html

I am having trouble uploading the .kcm file here - I keep getting error #340

There is a problem with firefox included in this version. It only runs if

If you want to pre-installed apks containing native libs
(either x86 or arm), you need to extract the libs .so
and put them into /system/lib/

See the AndroidTerm as an example.

The previous has a file init.duo.sh that seems to cause problems
sometimes (especially when installed to disk).

This is too little information to help.
Are you installing to new partition?
Did you select to install grub when you installed Android?
Please explain exactly what you did(or didn't do).

I am currently using the the 4.0 RC2 tegav2 iso and am quite happy.
As I remember from before the one big flaw that was never corrected
for us DUO owners was the system clock not updating. I searched the
discussion group to see if a true fix had been implemented but could
not find one. Can someone confirm that it has a full working system
clock before I install this version?

Thanks

This iso does update the clock for me as well as enabling the physical
keyboard and auto screen rotation.
See the first post for outstanding problems that I am aware of.

MAKE SURE you set hardware to "duo" in hardware settings in
grub.cfg(menulst.cfg) otherwise you will get random rotations and wifi
might not work.
Also check that your root directory etc is set correctly as the
installation now goes to a date stamped directory, so after installation it
might still boot from the old directory.

NOTE that this iso is only for the Inspiron DUO (Inspiron 1090) and will
behave unpredictably on other hardware.

Added support for BCM43xx wifi. This is untested as I don't have a duo with
the Broadcom wifi adapter. Please let us know if it works.
Still have not fixed the accelerometer to work correctly, but it will
rotate the screen - this can be disabled in settings for those who find it
annoying.

1. The latest build is 3 posts up(Feb 27).
2. I had a look at available drivers for the build and the DW1501 uses a
BCM943xx. I don't know whether it is the same as the BCM43xx. You can go to
the console and try "modprobe b43" and see if it finds your card.

Dear Gerhardt!

the screen flip is better (almost o.k.).

the 'modprobe b43' says nothing,

in the site 'b43 Linux Wireless' (

no (WIP)

BCM4313

b/g/n

LCN (r1)

wl/brcm80211 <http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/brcm80211>
i look around for DW1551 and i found: Broadcom 4313 DW1501 BCM94313HMG2L
Wifi Half Card (10798)
therefore, is not supported in b43 driver.
maybe work the alternative brcm80211<http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/brcm80211> driver?

Solved. The solution was removing the SDCARD=/data/sdcard.img statement
from the menuentry in 40_custom in grub2 dual boot ubuntu-android.
Persistent up-down screen flipping workaround was unmarking autorotating in
screen settings. Observing suddenly rebooting under certain actions.

screen settings.
Screen rotation works fine: You have to ensure that your hardware is set to
"duo" in your grub.cfg(menulst.cfg 40_custom) file otherwise you will get
random flipping and possibly other random behaviour.
I also get Android restarting occasionally but only immediately after
booting, thereafter it is stable. If you can provide some indication of
which actions cause reboot, I can look into it.
