Post by Mike RuddockI dislike Peggy and have for many an episode.
Mike Ruddock
I used to like her. She was very good with the secondJack. She put up
with the first and managed the pub and brought up two children. She
has been supportive of Jenny and Lilian and a good and generous
grandmother.
I was rather pleased when she started to become a _bit_ curmudgeonly -
rather than just being "nice granny", a bit of a soft touch. Though ...
Post by SODAMPost by Vicky AyechButI thought when she fired Emma that was the PTF as
... most definitely PTF.
Post by SODAMPost by Vicky Ayechitwasdone with no notice and making Emma do the hardest stuff that day
and no compensation. She knew how much Emma needed the money. A pay
off would have meant little to her. And the scene with neither a
borrower or lender be was callous.
She was startled. I agree she seemed callous, but I thought her reaction
_believable_, even if not necessarily commendable.
Post by SODAMPost by Vicky AyechAs for Krait.....I hope there is
karma waiting. Surely one day bad has to happen?
Like Matt, Rob, Hazel, and Susan's brother, I'd not miss her. No good.
That would indeed be good.
Post by SODAMYANAOU. That is three of us agreed. How many likeable characters are there
left in Ambridge, aside from Clarrie, Rex, Lily, Harrison Fallon and Ed?
Surprisingly, I'd now nominate Jim; when he first joined us, he was
really very nasty to Al and Shula, but seemed to mellow (even before the
current storyline; in that, original Jim would have been a lot ruder to
Shula than he has been). Sometimes _mischievous_, mind. And the current
storyline he's likely to lash out - but look at what he did with L*nda;
was nasty, but subsequently apologised, and I think genuinely.
And L*nda is basically good-intentioned, though often misguided - and
also subject to, not exactly PTF, but a handy butt for lazy SWing.
Robert, when we once-in-a-blue-moon hear him. Oliver ditto. Jill? Pip?
Post by SODAMThe rest have all been touched by the PTF lately. I used to like many of
the others that we never hear from nowadays. Even Rory (not going in for
the other spelling) and Ben seem to be being lined up for teenage
delinquency. Which other characters do umrats still like?
When the scriptwriters have alienated everyone and episodes consist solely
of people shouting at each other, sobbing or being mean in some way,
That sounds like Eastenders.
Post by SODAMperhaps I’ll give up listening. It’s not much joy at present.
