I suspect that most people thought that shop/brand died years ago. Long since disappeared from all high street locations that I was personally familiar with.

BBC TV News was uncharacteristically fair in its report.

The chain apparently has only 79 shops still open and everything they
sell is available quicker and cheaper on the internet. This is a fate
befalling a lot of former specialist retailers and department stores.

It's been drifting towards the rocks for years. It was the success story of the 1960's when there products of the post war bulge were reaching fecundity. Much of our kid's stuff came from Mothercare.

The trouble with a baby market is that babies grow up and when their turn comes around to replenish the population then they look to wider horizons. Like several others Mothercare was slow to adapt away from what had previously proved to be a successful business model.

However the trouble with an unwanted paste from your clipboard?
Have you been shot?
Have you never included an unwanted paste from your clipboard in a post?
Was it because of you being an ex-teacher and not knowing the difference
between there and their?
Or 'there' and 'the'?

FWIW, it seems to me that "there" in the paragraph beginning "It's been
drifting..." was a typo for "the" rather than a misspelling of "their".

"Their" wouldn't make sense anyway.

Isn’t hindsight wonderful for clever dicks such as Troll Nugent?

In which case it should be perfectly logical to you.

You had exactly the same evidence available to you, but chose to
interpret it in a way which made no sense but allowed you to make an
ineffective attack on the poster whose contribution contained the typo.

That's your fault, not mine.
