Named: Fabulous Fifties (50s Rock'N'Roll, Doo Wop And Rockabilly)
(not much R&B, 38K members)
(this group was suggested to me today by FB in an email, amongst 5
other groups of similar ilk)
(stereo!)
Nostalgic Comments include:
The "Ut Oh" intro by Frazier was his reaction to making a mistake
on an earlier take . The producers liked it and it became part of the
original recording ... I have to say that its the worst syncro dancing
I have ever seen {smile!} ...great vid tho
Everyone {mostly girls} in the audience is chewing Beechnut gum
(American Bandstand's sponsor)
The "IFIC" labels are for Doublemint Spearmint gum, dubbed
"Flavorific".
I have fond memories of the Dick Clark Show. Saturdays at 7:30.
Gotta love the audience clapping out of sync and on the upbeat! LOL
This is such feel-good music. It's such a shame nobody makes music
like this anymore.
Reached No 2 On the US singles chart
Funny to see these videos, and then someone says: that's my
granddad!! or grandmother.. awesome..
Great song. Love that this is an inter-racial group - which must
have been pretty controversial back in the 1950's. Singing and dancing
in suits and ties seems very quaint today.
Did you know the group got their name from a new Chevrolet recently
purchased by their parents? Chevy introduced the Impala model in
1958..
Im 18 and if it wasnt for car shows and hotrodding I wouldnt be
listening to this stuff. I love it always sets the mood for old school
car cruising.
