Discussion:
You people who can understand Chinese, pay attention to what Chinese people say when they first meet: They greet each other with" "Have you eaten today" or "Have you eaten your rice today".

travel. Chinese books on Chinese history do tell darkside of Chinese
history, And no Chinese say "Have you eaten today?" Chinese people
say "Have you eaten yet?". ok, stop being stupid. If you dont know,
simply ask. Ok!

Maybe I should not blame you for your ignorance, you are not from
intellectual family, are you? You family was running restaurant

China has 5000 years of history, of course, starvation occurred from
time to time. But remember China during Tang Dynasty, Northen Song
Dynasty was the richest nation in the world, there was no mass
starvation. Even under CCP, one of worst regimes in Chinese history,
mass starvation did not happen when DXP etc were in charge, it only
occurred during your "Great Man" Mao's stupid Great Leap Forward. So
was starvation part of Chinese life even during CCP's rule???

Yes, Chinese eat liver etc, same for French, goose liver is one of
most famous French cuisines. Oh, French cuisine also includes snail,
frog leg etc does that mean starvation was part of French life to
you??? And we Chinese still love liver etc, does that mean Chinese
are still starving, no, it is simply delicious. Yes, Chinese eat dog
meat but no comparison to Koreans. Today, Korea is one of richest
nations and Korean people still love dog meat because it is simply
delicious to them. Does that mean starvation is still part of Korean
life to you???

Yes, when people are hungry, they eat everything including human
flesh, have you heard the story that the plane crash in the mountain,
survivals had to eat human flesh to keep alive, does that mean
starvation was part of their life?

Man, you are really stupid!

Hey, "have you eaten yet"? Gee, do I mean you are starving??? Haha!

You dont know Chinese stuff, just ask, ok! But do not fabricate
based
on your very limited knowledge. You made one ignorant statement
after
another one, it never ends from you. So listen up, Mongols did not

Here's the link to Tang Dynasty from British Museum website, so read
it:

http://www.thebritishmuseum.ac.uk/explore/highlights/article_index/c/china_tang_dynasty_ad_618-90.aspx

"By the reign of Xuanzong (AD 712-56), China was the richest and most
powerful political unit in the world. The [Tang] dynasty was also a
golden age for poetry and the arts in general."
China has 5000 years of history, of course, starvation occurred from
time to time. But remember China during Tang Dynasty, Northen Song
Dynasty was the richest nation in the world,
Chinese historian whitewashed Chinese history to
glorified China. How can the Tang, Northern Song
be the riches in the world when half the world was
unknown in the 7th century? That showed Chinese
ignorance and bragged about their superiority.
We are still learning the richness of the South
American Indians even today.
I also condemn the rest of the Chinese within this
forum for not speaking out on this subject because
of their constant referenced to be proud of their long
Chinese history. This also show their ignorance of
Chinese history.
Chinese history was constand warfare, mass
killings, execution, starvation,.. China was truly a
land of the living hell. Chinese people were living
and working like animals up to until 30 years ago..
there was no mass
starvation. Even under CCP, one of worst regimes in Chinese history,
mass starvation did not happen when DXP etc were in charge, it only
occurred during your "Great Man" Mao's stupid Great Leap Forward. So
was starvation part of Chinese life even during CCP's rule???

it was referenced to the scarcity of food, and starvation was a
factor.
I am not about to argue with you on this. I have no doubt that you have
read books referring to this, but not all books carry equal credibility.
Imagine what we would find in the books in which that Nipwit Anko,
Lechershit, RAK, Limp Dick, and the Western China bashers daily immerse
themselves. I would like to discuss this topic with an historic expert in
Chinese form of greeting in a Chinese university and hear what he/she has to
say.
J.
1: eats anything that walks on all four.
2: eats human flesh.
3: eats things that ordinary people throws away.
Are these the words of a people that had food to eat?
Isn't these an indication that food was scarce?
and starvation was part of life?
If you think ortherwise, boy!! you have a lot to learn about China.- Hide quoted text -

.........Chinese have their culture, they have their

Chinese greet their friends... saying "Are you good,...have

Muslims greet their friends...saying "As-Salam-u-'Alaikum ...

The Chinese is concerned about the good health and good
fortune of their friends and if their friends are hungry.
If their friends is sick or suffer misfortunes...then they will
extend a helping hand.
If they had not eaten, then they will proceed to a eating shops.
This is why there are so many eating places in Chinese society...
where Chinese can buy their friends meals ..in hawkers stalls,
coffee shops, food courts, restaurants....
This cultural expression is highly commendable.

Muslims have been fighting and killing, at war with others
constantly in history....like it is in the Middle East. To Muslims
peace is a rarity, highly prized ... which they yearn.
The greeting can be taken to mean...." I am at peace with
you...we don't fight or kill each other"
This greeting reveals the underlying hostile character of Muslims.

Old doesn't necessarily mean good. If you think old Chinese culture is
good, you should not be using a computer: you should keep to your
pigeon mail and write with your ink and brush. People have to keep up
with the times.

At least new gives change from old a chance. You would still be
swinging from trees, if no one bothers to change old things to new.

You just learned it or what??? We have learned it since our primary
school Chinese history class in Taiwan.

Only idiots like you did not know that China has ups and downs man
times and Chinese history has its bright side and also dark side. 9
million Chinese people starved to death in 1959 alone due to your
"Great Man" Mao's stupid Great Leap Forward is one of dark sides of
Chinese history. And only idiots like you would call Mao "Great
Man". Only idiots like you dont learn the lesson from this piece of
sad Chinese history. Glory your ass!!!

If you think that China long histroy is nothing but wars,,,and

For very long period there were unparalleled prosperity and peace. in
China during the last 2300 years...Over 400 year during the Han
Dynasty 200 BC to 200 AD,... over 200 year during the Tang Dynasty 610
to 800 AD,.... over 300 years during the Song Dynasty from 960 to
1280, ....300 years during the Ming Dynasty from 1370 to 1650...Even
during the first half of the Ching Dynasty from 1680 to about 1800,
there were peace and prosperity in China. It was only during the later
part of the Ching dynasty when the Manchus shown to be coward when
they fought the west, did the Chinese rebeled against the Manchus
rule.
In between Dynasty changes, the warlords in China fought one another
for the throne, there were wars and famine. Once a Dynasty established
itself, peace and prosperity returns. The fabulous wealth of China
were reported by Europeans .. people like Marco Polo.

"Hey, RST, have you eaten yet"? Gee, do I mean you are starving???
Haha!

You dont know Chinese stuff, just ask, ok! But do not fabricate based
on your very limited knowledge and wild imagination. You made one
ignorant statement after another one, it never ends from you. So
listen up, Mongols did not have war with Northern Song Dynasty. Tang
dynasty was the richest state in the world. Ancient Chinese people do
travel. Chinese books on Chinese history do tell dark side of Chinese
history, and no Chinese say "Have you eaten today?" Chinese people
say "Have you eaten yet?" So stop being stupid!!!

Maybe I should not blame you for your ignorance, you are not from
intellectual family, are you? You family was running restaurant
business, right? No wonder!!!

Ancient Chinese people do
travel. Chinese books on Chinese history do tell dark side of Chinese
history, and no Chinese say "Have you eaten today?" Chinese people
say "Have you eaten yet?" So stop being stupid!!!

in their life, they can not speak/read Chinese, suddenly, they read a
couple of Chinese history books (English edition) and think they know
everything and start making ignorant statements one after another one
based on their very limited knowledge and wild imagination. And when
we pointed out their mistakes, they continue to twist to cover up
their embarrassment and ignorance. Just incredible!!!
I feel that I have to speak for RST on this. I don't know whether he
will read this or not, since he said he will be doing jury duty.

RST was born in China, and attended school in China before emigrating to
the United States, so he was exposed to quite a bit of Chinese culture. When
I invited him to lunch at a Chinese restaurant in Tucson, AZ, I noticed that
he could speak Cantonese with the waitress, and that he could actually
understand Mandarin when I spoke to her, even though he admitted he could
spean Mandarin. Like many different nationalities that emigrated to the
U.S., RST is no different in that they all became part of the USA and left
their original identities "back home".

Stop it, abeenchum. Your ignorance is overwhelming and surpassed only
by your studpidity. You are whitewashed by the Chinese historians who
wanted to glorify China. And you are part of it. The Tang Dynasty's

Below is the link to Tang Dynasty from British museum, read it and
stop being an ignorant:

"By the reign of Xuanzong (AD 712-56), China was the richest and most
powerful political unit in the world. The [Tang] dynasty was also a
golden age for poetry and the arts in general."

Do you agree with RST's ignorant statement of "Chinese pepple never

Not entirely. Have you ever travelled outside of China ? Travel visas
are incredibly difficult to obtain - not because the Chinese authorities
don't allow them, but Western countries do not want Chinese citizens to come
to their country - an inbred phobia against "The Yellow Peril". In the West,
there is this prevailing idea that Chinese citizens are not allowed to go
out of China by the Chinese authorities, but the truth is, Chinese citizens
are not allowed entry to the Western countries by the respective Western
authorities. I managed to help several Chinese obtain visas into Denmark -
that is why I know the situation inside out. Today's Danish national
newspaper, the Berlingske Tidende, carried an article stressing this fact,
asking the government to change their regulations regarding Chinese
tourists, because there is now a lot of money to be earned from tourists
from China, and the rules and regulations are blocking this by the old laws.

Many Western countries have started to lower their barriers against the
Chinese in recent years, knowing full well that there is a Hell of a lot of
money to be gained by doing so. A recent survey of tourists here in Denmark
shows clearly that the Chinese tourists who managed to come here spend twice
as much money daily than their Japanese counterparts; they are also more
polite and better educated in general compared to those Nips ( no, they

"Chinese people never travel" - by ignorant old fool, RST

Oh my god, another ignorant statment from RST!!! Incredible!!!

Lee Bai, the most famous poet in China is also a well known traveller,
he travelled many places in China and wrote them into his poets.

Here is the link to poet Li Bai:

http://english.cri.cn/1702/2005-5-***@207586.htm

"In his twenties, Li Bai began to travel. His experiences and
encyclopedic knowledge help him achieve great success in writing..."
"Li Bai ended up spending most of his life traveling. During his
travels, he wrote many poems about nature."

Go to National Palace Museum in Taipei and see those masterpieces of
Chinese paintings to understand how Chinese scholar painters admired
Chinese landscapes in their paintings from their travel experience.
Too bad, RST can not read Chinese, one of the most famous Chinese
books is Lao-chenz's Travelling Notes, some of article in the book
have been selected as "must-read" in Chinese literature class in
Taiwan. And since ancient time, Chinese admired Huang San (Huang
Mountain), Tai-San (Tai Mountain)... And 2000 years ago, Qin Shi Huang
already claimed up Tai-San (Tai Mountain) to worhship the Heaven.

"Chinese people never travel"??? You must be kidding!!! Hey RST,
take Silk Road trip to understand how ancient Chinese merchants
travelled. Haha!

Are you saying travel in ancient time must travel to foreign country

statement of "Chinese people never travel". If you disagree, let me
know: (snip)
To travel means to go from one place to another, from one country to
another. You cannot claim to be a seasoned traveller, if you haven't
travelled abroad. A Chinese travelling to different parts of China will see
many different aspects of China and the Chinese culture, but until he has
travelled to other countries, he will have no idea what other peoples and
other cultures are like - it's like the proverbial frog looking at the sky
from the bottom of the well and say to the other frogs that the sky is only
only one colour, blue. Your example of a Chinese who had travelled
throughout China, Li Bai, would no doubt have seen many aspects of China,
but wouldn't have a clue about what the world outside China was like: he
didn't even have television then to give him an idea about what other
peoples were like. China was an extremely isolated country in the past,
thinking that she was self-sufficient, and this slowed down her progress to
nearly a stand still. I have no doubt that there are many cultural treasures
taken to Taiwan by the KMT when they fled, and they should all be returned
to China, because they belong to the Chinese people's (as a whole) heritage,
and not only to those living on the island of Taiwan.

I will not allow myself to be drawn into your flippant quarrel with RST,
because I will not take sides. Besides, I have met RST and know what he is
like. I haven't met you - yet.

Many Western countries have started to lower their barriers against the

Here's Chinese curse, you should learn it. It's more powerful than
yours, haha!

mistakes, he continues to twist to cover up his embarrassment and
ignorance! Incredible!
Stop it, abeenchum. Your ignorance is overwhelming and surpassed only
by your studpidity. You are whitewashed by the Chinese historians who
wanted to glorify China. And you are part of it. The Tang Dynasty's
world was not "the world". Why don't you examine your own words and
your own ignorance.

I wouldn't go so far as to say he is "ignorant" about Chinese history.
Let's just say that he reads different text books than you and I do.

No wonder you don't believe that:

Haha!

of China? Even then, when I mentioned a period during the Tang
Dynasty, your response was it was the declining period of the Tang
Dynasty. Now, this parrot abeenchum still claimed that it was the

Like I said many times, go to Fort Huachuca museum and you can read my
family background. There are still two buildings in Fort Huachuca
today that beared my forefathers names. What do you have to proof
your family's superiority?
I came from a long line of restaurant operators, of which I am very
proud of. My father was the last of the line. I worked my entire
life in engineering of which I have retired from. My brothers and my
son are medical doctors. What does your supperior family have? Tell
me your family background. Are you afraid to?
it was referenced to the scarcity of food, and starvation was a

Apparently you know Chinese custom better than that old fool. In
Your ignorance is overwhelming and surpassed only by your stupidity.
You certainly like my cursing you out like a damn fool. Your mother
was a damn whore and a bitch. Your father was a thief and a
murderer. You are a son-of-a-bitch and an ignorant fool. Why don't
you grow up and put away your childish ways?
Taiwan, it's also a common greeting particularly during meal time. If
someone comes to my house around my meal time, I will ask the person
"Have you eaten yet?", if that person answers "not yet", the usual
Chinese custom is "sit down, let's eat together" to show Chinese
hospitality. Or someone from other city visits you, Chinese will
usually ask "Have you eaten yet?" to ensure the person comes a long
way is not hungry, if the person has not eaten yet, you should offer
the meal, that's Chinese custom. Too bad, that old fool could not
understand Chinese, otherwise, there are plenty of Chinese TV dramas
playing in Chinese Cable channel in the states and you will find this
greeting is part of dialouges. And it has nothing to do with
starvation as that old fool has assumed.
"Have you eaten today" or "Have you eaten your rice today".
They still greet each other with the same greeting today even in
America. Is this the words of the people who had a lot to eat? I
didn't even think of this until I read it from a book. Wasn't this an
indication of people who were starved, and starvation was part of life?
It is a common understanding that "People eat to live, but Chinese live
to eat" - we just *love* food. Don't you think that the greeting could have
arisen from politeness and hospitality to ensure that the recipient is not
hungry after a journey/work ? It is also said that people who live in the
steppes in western China ask one another not about how the other's family
are, but how his herd of horses or sheep are, because the herd is their
livelihood.
