Pigs with wings?

Incidentally, in my childhood, the phrase used was

"If pigs could fly, we'd have to shoot for sausages."

Was this commonly known & used, or a peculiarity of my family?

Btms: I think Lynda will shut up: she’s called Soozan’s bluff. She respects
Clarrielurve (not Eddee of course) and wouldn’t want to upset her. She may
even think Soozan’s passing the buck).
