You misunderstand... In my opinion, the parents of small children within
25 miles of Jackson's home are all relieved. Girl scouts selling their
cookies door to door didn't have to worry though, Michael only liked the
boys.

He did nothing for me anyway. I didn't like his music, although I
appreciate that his song and dance routines were very good and his music
was popular among the masses. But the whole thing has me bored. I really
was more saddened to hear of the death of Farrah Fawcett, although we
all knew she was on the way out as she had been battling cancer. The
death of Michael Jackson was more surprising. But he wasn't a bloody
saint... after all, he liked to spend his spare time in a bedroom with
little boys!

I wasn't a big fan of Jackson's either. I just never liked

Agreed.

As you mentioned above, Farrah's battle with cancer was
know, and it was really only a matter of time before she
died. It was a question of when will she die rather than a
question of will she live.

Jackson's was unexpected, even though he was known to be in
poor health.

He kind of trashed his reputation the first time he got into
trouble.

If he'd been smart, he would have stopped the sleepovers at
Neverland right then and there. Said something to the
effect that, while he'd enjoyed having them, developments
now made it impractical to continue the practice.

Instead, he went on hosting them, and less than a decade
later he was back in court facing similar charges.

It didn't help that, some people being turned off by the
pedophilia business and no longer buying his records, that
his cash flow was taking a hit.

The amount of unadalterated GLEE that a human being has passed away
that is being posted to the Internet I find absolutely sickening.

This guy actually produced some masterpiece songs that I know improved
my life.

And there is almost a party atmosphere amongst all the people jealous

Wait 10 years, you won't even remmeber who he was.

Most of his stuff was schlock orchestraed by Quincy Jones. There is no
substance ... okay, maybe a bit.

A lot of his sucess was abused by others around him - they didn't give a
shit about him except what they can make off of it.

He even pissed of Paul McCartney when he bought the Lennon/McCartney
catalog - this was a business grab and forget artistic stuff.

Jackson was okay. It was everyone around him that were scum of the earth.

I'm afraid he was nothing more than a child molesting freak who didn't live
in the same world as the rest of us and escaped prosecution only because of
the huge sums of money he was able to utilise for his legal defence. No
different to Gary Glitter except richer.
Granted he had musical talent but that doesn't excuse his other behaviour

Jackson was okay. It was everyone around him that were scum of the earth.
My $.25.
I'm afraid he was nothing more than a child molesting freak who didn't live
in the same world as the rest of us and escaped prosecution only because of
the huge sums of money he was able to utilise for his legal defence. No
different to Gary Glitter except richer.
Granted he had musical talent but that doesn't excuse his other behaviour
which his "fans" seem to conveniently ignore. The good news is no more
children will be abused by this nutter.
Weirdo Jackson snuffs it and flame wars start.
There's that "faux Christian" Yads showing his true colours. Not only is he

Oh, and this is nothing like a flame war. That's just something you're

Jackson's mistake was not discontinuing those sleepovers

He could have discontinued them with a rationale along the

Any further questions on them should be directed to my legal

Instead, he went right back to hosting these sleepovers, and

In an age of lies and illusions, you make no effort to
seek the truth. You choose to remain on the surface of
a lie. Armed with the knowledge provided by our lazy
tabloid summaries you scream your tired diatribe..

How to fool most of the people, all of the time? How to
manage talent when it appears contrary to the direction
of culture? How to contain a voice which dared to cross
the divide of age and cultures.

You revel in the lie that's now attached to his name, all
the other factors are either unknown, or ignored by you.
In your world no one would levy such an heinous accusation
if it were not so. In your world people don't lie or steal
or kill for money. In your world there is no unfairness.

The worst you could say with any honesty is that Michael
Jackson, in a climate bordering on hysteria, settled a
Civil suite.

To understand this you would need knowledge of those
times, you would need some idea of the many players
who stood to gain at his expense. We are talking about
Money, millions and millions of dollars, and influence
for which there is no price. Michael was a magnet for
these piranhas.

What you won't hear in our lazy tabloid summaries is
that at the time Michael Jackson argued for his day
in a Criminal court. Strangely that singular detail,
like so much of history is lost or buried with the
summary. Michael Jackson wanted to face his accusers,
ahead of any civil case, in a Criminal court where the
standards for truth and justice is as high as it can
be.

What you won't hear in our lazy tabloid summaries, is
how the father of the boy plotted a path to the Civil
courts, you won't hear how despite counter charges of
extortion by Michael, next to no effort was taken to
explore that obvious possibility.

You won't hear of the controversial drug used by this
father on his son, after the pretext of extracting his
tooth. A pretext which also entailed securing custody
of his son from his estranged wife.

Our tabloids won't mention how this father approached
Michael for a 'movie deal', and then concerned with
perjuring himself, did not go directly to the authorities
as any ordinary father would.

You won't hear of a premeditated plan discussed with his
lawyer which called for a third party to 'discover' the
boy's claims and then alert the authorities. Nor will you
hear of the near suicidal state of that boy was in whilst
in the sole custody of his father.

Details like this will not be known to the general public,
all the public has is that simple statement, Michael Jackson,
or should I say his insurance company, settled a Civil suite.

Background, background, background. You won't remember
the climate bordering on hysteria, as similar stories
routinely made their way to the fore of the press. You
won't hear of the many stories produced by the now
discredited practice of psychiatry called the 'recovered
memory syndrome'. You won't hear in the summary, of the
tabloid feeding frenzy, the ping pong between sources on
either side of the Atlantic, orchestrated by sources in
the Chandler camp. Then of course there was Court TV
with sources in the chandler camp, fuelling the tide of
opinion in that case. All this and more will be lost in
our simple headlines.

All you have for your false anger is that a Civil suite
was settled, at a time when justice on this issue, was
far from infallible.

There's an incredible story waiting to be told, if
anyone dares to look at what is actually known from
that period.

I won't mention the other stories going back to that
time, or the tape recording where Chandler says he paid
tens of thousands of dollars, money he didn't have, for
'evidence' he would use against Jackson.

As a clue See...

"Star surgeon 'mocked patients'"

A Hollywood plastic surgeon is alleged to have crudely
mocked celebrity patients - including Michael Jackson and
Elizabeth Taylor - while they were under anesthetic.

If you don't make the effort to find truth, what finds
you will be some what short of the truth. The stuff
history is made of. Now cue the 'Fat Elvis' jokes made
by the happy buffoons without a clue why they hold the
ideas they do. Laughing as they've have been primed to,
showing no real concern, just this desire to share the
same group think.

Its so much more natural to go with the flow, to believe
what the group believes, to accept without thought, without
question.

Bottom line, no one owes you the truth about anything.

If you don't make the effort to find truth, what finds
you will be some what short of the truth. The stuff
history is made of.
And you know all this about Jackson because....?
How do i know all this?

Well for one, i have sought the truth. I have not
sat back and expected the truth to find me. I haven't
relied on the tidy summaries which purport to be
all one needs to know.

I have followed this story, I have questioned the
contradictions, i have sought answers for the odd
convergences which others would call chance or fate.

The truth is out there, as one would expect. There
is always more to the truth than meets the eye.

In Michael Jackson's case, as a public figure on
the world's stage with untold influence, there would
have been a perceived need to curtail his naive
influence. Beyond chance and fate, there is also
design. Public and vocal, from the 'wrong side of
the tracks', touring the world's capitals with an
international eye and a predisposition for concern.

To answer your questions, I've seen the official
documents which shows the timing of events in that
first case, documents which clearly shows the element
of premeditation i mentioned in the earlier post. I've
seen the drawing made by Jordan at the time he was in
his father's custody. Depicting him jumping from an
high building with the words "don't let this happen",
as well as the letter the father wrote to his lawyers
about this. I've noted how odd it was for a father to
ask for a '20 million dollar movie deal' from Jackson
when most parents first concern would be justice.

I've followed all the other tangential stories, such
as "Star surgeon 'mocked patients'" [goggle this for
relevance], I didn't just read the report in the press,
I've seen the court documents made by those who made
this allegation against the doctor, based on an incident
from 93'.

Then there is the transcript of a conversation made by
Evan Chandler on the eve of the allegations. I've
seen its mention of other figures, who do this day
remain unknown, the third parties or 'experts' who
introduced Chandler to the idea of profiting from MJ's
relationship with his son. Even the way Michael first
came to meet the Chandlers seemed some how contrived.
Again you would need to have followed this case in
detail to know why it was odd. More than chance or fate.

Then there's experience. A natural understanding of
time/ing. An appreciation for the substance of culture,
when its not simply looking to entertain. All this has
informed my opinion.

Of course if you want to remain on the surface with
the official tabloidised version of history, you are
perfectly at liberty [how the phrase mocks its use ]
to do so. On the surface of the illusion, adapting to
not perceive truth... dumbed down and loving it.

I've never 'believed' any of the hype surrounding Jackson - including
the notion that he was a musician. His fortune seemed to me to be out
of all proportion to his talent, and his lifestyle invited ridicule
and contempt, but in the end I think he was more to be pitied than
despised.

I detest the process of trial by media, and I don't think his

Any Musical legacy is as much about the use which might
still be made from a body of work, as any artistic merit
it contains.

Certainly we, the ordinary joe, don't control the culture
we are exposed to. In my opinion the dominant ideas
of culture are first selections, ideas which serves a
function.

Is there, in Michael's work, this element of function?
I would say yes. It all depends on how one reads culture
and the ideas which will still find their use.

But then one looks to the previous greats and the place
they occupied, for example Chuck Berry's "Go Johnny Go"
appealing to the saint in the devil, a moot point lost
on subsequent generation. That song/artist would have
courted this idea of function. How many now remember
this seminal figure from that period.

There is a story to be told through the lives and times
of Jackson, as there would be for most artists who
reflected their times, but whether we are ready, or
willing to preserve that sense remains a question for
the future. First though we need to separate truth
from /friction.

If nothing else the joy and vitality of his best works
deserves a place in our collective unconscious. I don't
think anyone is going to forget Mr Jackson any time soon.

$I'm afraid he was nothing more than a child molesting freak who didn't live

$the huge sums of money he was able to utilise for his legal defence. No

$Granted he had musical talent but that doesn't excuse his other behaviour

I don't think all of his fans ignored it.

I understand that, after the first time he was in court on
child molestation charges, his record sales took a hit.

Not a big enough hit to sink him, but according to something
I read in the Globe and Mail today, the loss of income left
him living beyond his means and he never really did bring
his expneses under control.

TMZ says he is now dead and gone.
More to come.
The amount of unadalterated GLEE that a human being has passed away
that is being posted to the Internet I find absolutely sickening.
This guy actually produced some masterpiece songs that I know improved
my life.
And there is almost a party atmosphere amongst all the people jealous
of his success and envious of his millions.
I only hope you cocksuckers throw an even bigger party when I'm
dead .... 'cos I know I'll be well shot of  the lot of you.
Wait 10 years, you won't even remmeber who he was.
That's a pretty stupid thing to say. He was a star of the '80s and
people remember him well enough now to make a fuss that he's dead.
That's what comes from being 'fortunate' enough to hit the big time in
the era of celebrities.

Most of his stuff was schlock orchestraed by Quincy Jones.  There is no
substance ... okay, maybe a bit.
True, there are many better, and certainly far more influential,
musicians still living whose deaths undoubtedly won't receive the same
front page coverage as Michael Jackson's, from Fats Domino and BB King
to Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. But musical merit has no bearing
on how long an artist will remain in the popular consciousness, and to
imagine otherwise is to fundamentally misunderstand pop culture. I've
had no reason to think of Michael Jackson for the best part of 20
years, and not much before, but I still know who he is.

Yes, his stuff was disposable schlock and certainly it would be an
exaggeration to call anything he did a "masterpiece", but it fit the
tone of the decade and as mainstream pop of the time went, its
popularity was probably deserved - it wasn't bad by that admittedly
low standard.

Yeah, but the people of Britain and America love to have someone they never
knew to grieve over. A public outpouring of grief. Happens every now and
then. People who wouldn't normally grieve for their own friends and
relatives, but suddenly find emotions for people they hadn't even thought

deflects attention from news that governments and BBC executives will be

Anyway, I wouldn't call her a complete bimbo. After all,

Globe and Mail says he was rushed to hospital after suffering a heart
attack.
I'm indifferent to the news. Don't have any of his music. Thought he
was over-rated. Never met him. Don't care.
I`ve never owned any of his albums, nor had any inclination to. He`s barely
crossed my mind for the last 20 years apart from the time he turned up at
Exeter City Football Club with Uri Geller and when he recently sent crowds
wild by announcing new gigs. That said, his death was definately a head
turning moment ( so to speak ) due to him being such an incredibly famous
person. As Phil says, it`s Lady Di all over again. On a personal level it
doesn`t affect me at all, he was nothing more than an oddity with a dubious
private life, but it is major news. I`d had about 6 text message jokes by 9

"On the corner of Hollywood and Vine sits a star along the "Hollywood
Walk of Fame," with loads of flowers, candles and pictures, surrounded
by fans of Michael Jackson. (Pictured in almost every newspaper this
morning). The star they have been surrounding all day is marked with the

But the star does not belong to The King of Pop, it belongs to British
born radio host Michael Jackson, who has been an L.A. radio personality
for over 30 years. Seems the other Michael Jackson's star has been
covered since early Thursday morning. Covered by a red carpet. A red
carpet leading to The Chinese Theatre Hollywood premiere of Bruno."

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see a bit of the
