Stupid and wreckless. And if we are to believe Big Brother's comment
about the Doctor's hiding to spare The Family (which seems reasonable
given how easily he was able to dispatch the threat once he changed
back) one has to wonder why he holds those aliens in higher regard than
humans. At least the nurse observed that the Doctor caused all the
deaths by acting on a whim.
Since when does wrapping someone in dwarf star alloy chains confer
immortality? And when did the Doctor start indulging in torture of
his enemies? He wouldn't even leave the Master with Chronos. The
Family just wanted to survive after all...
