I couldn't even begin to pick 5 favourites from my ~1700 CD's. I might be
able to manage my 100 favourites, though even that varies from day to day.

Other than a large quantity of Herreweghe CD's (mostly Bach) & various
Renaissance choral music that I have recently liberated from the BRO
stockrooms, here is what I have been listening to most over the last month
or so. I think at least a few of them would end up in a hypothetical 5
favourites listing.
Schubert: Impromptus (Radu Lupu, DECCA 460 975-2)
Beethoven: Symphonies 3,5,6,9 & Brahms Symphony 1 & Haydn Variations
(Furtwangler "Legendary Post-War Concerts", Tahra FURT 1067-1070)
Debussy: La Damoiselle Elue & various arias (Bidu Sayao, Sony MHK 63221)
Faure: Requiem (1893) (Herreweghe, Harmonia Mundi HMC 901292)
Heavenly Spheres (Renaissance Choral Music) (CBC MVCD 1121)
Mozart: Requiem (Savall, Auvidis ES9915)
Mahler: Das Lied von der Erde (Ferrier, Patzak, Walter, DECCA 466 576-2)
Schubert: Mass in A flat major D.678 (Herreweghe, Harmonia Mundi HMC 901786)
A Year With Frog and Toad (OC recording)
Steve Earle: Jerusalem
Americans Swinging in Paris: Cat Anderson (EMI 7243 539658 2)
Robyn Archer: Songs for Bad Times, 1 and 2 (Brecht/Weill/Eisler/Dessau
collaborations in English translation) (Festival Records Pty. Ltd. (Aust)
D24101 & D24102)
Puccini: Tosca (Callas, Di Stefano, Gobbi, de Sabata, EMI 7243 5 67759 2)
Sarah Vaughan: Sassy Swings the Tivoli (Emarcy 832)
Etta James: Time After Time (Private Music/BMG)
B.B. King: Indianola Mississippi Seeds (MCA MCAD 31343)
John Coltrane: A Love Supreme (Impulse GRD 155)
As you can see, I've taken you up on the "No Criteria" offer. %^)
