FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) ? Sep 18, 2009 ? A Research Paper ?titled ??A
scalable ?web?based ?platform ?for ?sharing ?and ?navigating ?360
degree cylindrical panoramas? by Padmanabhan Thangaraj and Abhinav
Asthana, ?students of BITS ? Pilani Goa Campus ?has ?been ?selected
amongst ?the ?top ?five for ?the ?USID? ?HCI ?(Human Computer
Interaction) Conference 2009 to be held at the Leela Kempenski,
Bangalore on the 18th to 20th of September 2009.

BITS 360 (www.bits360.com) was initially designed as a virtual tour
for the BITS ? Pilani, Goa Campus by the students of campus. ?The
software is accessible over the net, and provides the users an
opportunity to view the campus in the virtual reality of 360?
Panoramas. This software is scalable and thus can be modified for
large scale projects as creating a virtual reality of entire cities
and connect each panoramas with geographic relevance. This was the
prime reason to explore the software as a research subject to bring to
light the potential of the software. It is to be noted that around
eighty papers were submitted for ?the ?prestigious ?conference ?and
both ?students ?of ?BITS ?Pilani ?Goa ?Campus ?have ?been ?invited ?to
present the paper. Teams from Yahoo India, IIT Bombay (IDC),
University of Michigan, IIM Bangalore, IIT Guwahati, ?National
Institute ?of ?Design, ?Ahmadabad, ?Infosys, ?SAP, ?Accenture, ?Tech
Mahindra, ?Tata Consultancy ?Service, Nokia, Doblin ?Inc., New ?York
and many other institutions ?and organizations have submitted their
papers.

USID 2009 International Conference is the third HCI ?(Human Computer
Interface) ?conference ?in ?India. The ?USID ?Foundation, ?a
community ?of ?Human ?Computer ?Interaction ?& ?Design ?professionals
& enthusiasts ?is ?organizing ?the ?event. ?The speakers in the
conference ?include ?DR. ?CARRIE GATES, ?Vice President ?CA ?Inc.,
JENNIFER ?KILIAN, ?Creative Director, ?Frog Design, ?BILL ?THIES,
Researcher, Microsoft Research, ?India, ?SRIDHAR ?MARRI, ?Vice
President ?and ?Head ? ?Communication ?Design ?Group, ?Infosys
