Summary: ReactOS reboot after Loading Files
Product: ReactOS
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86 Hardware
OS/Version: ReactOS
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: Setup
AssignedTo: ros-***@reactos.org
ReportedBy: ***@gmx.de
QAContact: ros-***@reactos.org

Real Hardware (Notebook).
After installing ReactOS, ReactOS reboot and I can choose in Free Loader
ReactOS, ReactOS(Debug) and so on. But whatever I choose in this list or in the
F8 setup, ReactOS is loading the files (I can see the white bar) and after the
white bar is full - my notebook reboot.
Because of a problem with my harddisk, I had to use this
(http://reactos.colinfinck.de/download/RosBE-Windows/ReactOS.7z) ReactOS iso
which was posted here (http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6572).
So I used a ReactOS Setup called "ReactOS Setup 4.0 SVN".

Hi,
I don't have a NullModem Cable - is it possible to debug with a text output
file? I'm not sure because you gave me this link which is pointing at the
physical serial cable...

Now I have edit the freeldr.ini - Options=/DEBUG /DEBUGPORT=FILE /SOS &
Options=/DEBUG /DEBUGPORT=SCREEN /SOS - both versions don't bring any new
informations, I can't find a debug.log or something like this and I can't see
any informations at my screen. Is it only possible to get this debug log with a
serial cable?

Unfortunately, on real hardware null modem cable is only solution.

On my Laptop there is no NullModem cable socket - so I can't bring the debug
data out of this machine :)
I don't think that it helps - but i only can film this reboot - mayby you can
so localize the position of the restart...
And i found out that in 5% of cases no reboot is done, instad i become a black
screen and nothing more happens.

I'm sry that I can't give you more detailed informations :).

Regretfully that won't help much. Could you please try this revision:
http://iso.reactos.org/bootcd/bootcd-39717-dbg.7z ?
Perhaps you problem is ACPI related.

I've tryed this revision but this one can't find my harddisk. This was my
problem before installing - therefore i used the iso posted in my first post.
Mayby a fusion of both iso's can help but I can't do this fusion ^^ - is it
posible to bring together both versions?
Thanks 4 helping!

Sorry I hadn't seen that post, I don't know what's changed in that image you've
used, there's no mention of it in Colin's site. Perhaps it's got uniata
enabled, you could try then renaming in the iso:
atapi.sys -> atapi.old (or delete it)
uniata.sys -> atapi.sys

PS: I've just seen a thread in the forum:
http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6572&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=uniata&start=15

That iso you've used has uniata support enabled.

There are usb->serial cables working just fine, but you have to plug serial
part to ros test machine and usb to receiving PC, not the way around.

Then it's not usefull because I would need this way around :(.

There is a problem, when I use "bootcd-39717-dbg" with changed uniata.sys ->
atapi.sys it dosen't work at all - now the setup is loading files to, but
instad to show me that it don't find my harddisk it display only a black
screen!

Logging to a file has limitations and will not help in this case...
