Post by Jenny M BensonIf anyrat has experience of laser eye treatment and would be willing to
contact me off-line I'd be grateful.
I have none but will need it at some date. I believe they are
recomending it later than a couple of years ago to save money as I was
told I could have it then if I wanted but was safe to drive so didn't
have it and now am told I don't need it yet. I have talked to various
friends who had it or whose partners did. Can I ask why you want to
talk off-line about it? I would like to hear any information as am
still not keen on having it.
I just assumed mostrats wouldn't want too much off-topic clutter, but
I'm quite comfortable discussing it here. I was just wondering what
people's experience - if any - was and what to expect.
I think I have probably been rather lucky with a sort of queue jump. My
daughter, whose type 2 diabetes was worse than mine was told after
retinopathy screening that she had some changes due to the diabetes and
would need to be seen more frequently in future than the usual
12-monthly. At my last screening, a few weeks ago, I was told for the
first time that there were some changes but "nothing needs doing yet and
we'll see you again in a year."
Meanwhile, my optician had told me about 2 years ago that I was starting
with cataracts but they weren't bad enough to need anything doing yet.
12 months on they referred me to an eye specialist and I had my first
appointment a couple of weeks ago. He said that he would operate on the
cataracts, but would like to do laser treatment for the diabetic changes
first and I've been given an appointment for that clinic next month.
