We base our arguments about environmental issues on sound research and
evidence. Sometimes people challenge us — which is often positive, as
informed debate leads to greater knowledge. But many challenges come
from people with suspect motives."More

You are talking about a guy who flies back and forth across the country
and around the world to tell the rest of us that we should be reducing
our carbon footprint. Gordo considers Suzuki to be an expert on climate
change because he is a scientist, even though his expertise was in the
genetics of fruit flies.

The article really doesn't say much about the case for climate change,
only that he thinks there is sound science behind it. It is mostly a
pissing contest about credibility. He refers to some of the claims about
him, claims I have never heard , and then lashes out with questions
about the credibility of non scientists deniers like Ezra Levant. He
does not deal with issues raised by scientists.

FWIW, I live in the Niagara Peninsula, which was covered in ice
15000-20000 years ago. The glaciers have been receding for thousands of
years. The mathematics of the circle and thickness of the ice alone
would explain why they are receding faster now.

I didn't really expect that you would understand the mathematics. There
are some concepts that children have trouble understanding. Since you
are likely at the stage where you assume that a tall skinny glass holds
more than a short wide one I would not expect you to understand how
things would work with an ice cap melting at a constant rate for 15,000
years.

I make no claim to being good at math, but I have some basic
understanding. If you have a chunk of ice that is melting at a constant
rate, the smaller it gets, the faster it gets smaller.

BTW.... we experienced a mini ice age during the 17th century.
Temperatures had been rising fairly steadily for hundreds of years, but
then we went through an extended period of colder temperatures.
Scientists are not sure what caused it, but the likely causes are solar
conditions, volcanoes or shifts in the oceans' currents.

Why not? The polar ice cap is more or less circular. As is melts from
the outside in the circumference decreases. Think of trigonometry and
rates of change.

No. YOU presented an argument that "the mathematics" explain the

I understand enough to know that if there is a constant rate of melting
from the outside in, that the diameter will decrease at an accelerated
rate. I am not prepared to offer the formula.

Sorry, but if you understand enough to claim it...

Just a moment. Math is inapplicable since neither of your arguments
gives credence to the _science_ required for the determinants you would
make. The polar cap does_not melt evenly from the outside in, nor freeze
from the in out. These processess are governed by much more complex
systems including polar ocean currents, Coriolis offsets and weather.
Next science factoid: Glaciers and the Polar cap are phenomenon that are
related mostly by their formation in cold weather and inclusion of a
solid form of Oxygen Dihydride and not much else.

Climate "science?" Is that the new name? Did "climate change" fall out of favour with the "People's Directorate for Propaganda?" That's the largest change since they stopped using the term, "GLOBAL WARMING." They also instructed the leftist toadies in the media to stop using it as well.

Climate "science?" Is that the new name? Did "climate change" fall out of favour with the "People's Directorate for Propaganda?" That's the largest change since they stopped using the term, "GLOBAL WARMING." They also instructed the leftist toadies in the media to stop using it as well.
I have no idea who they is but AGW is real ,happening now and those
who deny it have no credibility.
