Hello Tbbeta,

Could you please test the fixed 3.0 MSIs:

http://www.ritlabs.com/download/files/the_bat/thebat_home.msi
http://www.ritlabs.com/download/files/the_bat/thebat_professional.msi

Both MSIs have the same .EXE.

thebat_professional.msi is currently thebat_home.msi plus the language files from the International Pack.

In future, thebat_professional.msi will be a substitute for SecureBat!

Stop dreaming, Maxim.
Our hard work will make those who are leaving to get back.
So you have a lot to do: Look at http://www.batworld.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=NS-Polls&file=index&req=results&pollID=11

I stay at v1/2
I search another MUA
I will update (right now)
I will update, if v3 ist stabile

I still don't now what to say about v3, nor whether I'll continue beta
testing (it seems that I not longer needed) or search another MUA.
Maybe I'll write if I are "down" again.

But one question: Wouldn't it be easier to convince the users for an
upgrade than to hit them and hope they come back?

At least I can use my own glyphs.
Are you sure about that? If I can use my own glyphs.bmp I may give
it a try.
My own glyphs also work with the latest .msi installation...

Opera Browser has a nice feature, which allows you to show the icons
in the toolbar from 10 - 100% scaling. That would solve all problems
for different scree solutions.

It seems that the buttons auto-adjust their size to the size of the glyphs. Arent' they?

There is a new glyph scheme in The Bat! 3.0. Now there are two files instead of bat_grp.bmp. First is the .INI file and the second is the translucent PNG file. It is the .INI file that specifies the sizes of the buttons, etc.

We will publish the specification soon.

Thank you very much indeed!
Had no problems installing either. :)

The problems I had with the preferences are gone.

My only problem is that with the new glyphs, which in general I much
prefer to the old default ones, the IMAP folders are almost the same
colour when in read as opposed to unread status.

I now depend on the folder name emboldening to tell the difference.

Could the IMAP unread folder colour be made to look more different?...
please?

Hello Martin,
The signature is checked - a window seems to pop up - but on my
system it is hidded behind the main window of TheBat. I saw it when I
closed TheBat. So there is a focus problem.
Couldn't report to BT - seems to be down.
Yes, we will get rid of this log window and will attach a "Signed" mark on the right of the header, same as with S/MIME.

XP Professional SP2... the International Pack uninstalled fine by itself
as did The Bat! entry (from a previous MSI I guess). I then ran the
repair option on the new MSI.

Perhaps this is a hang over from early MSI testing?

well :) heh, heh, it seems I renamed the glyphs.bmp in the BETA folder,
not the main folder.. I have the dual installation with the registry fix
to run TB in a separate folder for the beta version.. ANYWAY, the main
TB v3.0 glyphs.bmp is working fine !

they talked about that in TBOT a few weeks ago. so I created a new
folder C:\Program Files\TB_Beta
copied all of mail TB files and mail folders to it, created a shortcut,
with the target ="C:\Program Files\Thebat_beta\thebat.exe" /REG:beta
and START-IN= "C:\Program Files\Thebat_beta\"

so my wife runs the normal TB and I can run it OR the beta:)

Hello all,
Post by Maxim Masiutin
thebat_professional.msi is currently thebat_home.msi plus the
language files from the International Pack.
- when I started this version and created new account, file
ACCOUNT.SRX was created and when I opened Sorting Office, Old
Filtering System appeared to me. When I created new filter and
restarted Sorting Office, New Filtering System correctly appeared

- when I open task in Scheduller, select Actions section and add new
action "Watch and Send files", options "Include sub-folders" and
"Exclude filemask" are disabled in General section

- there is no language file in professional edition

BTW why is not main window and MailTicker centered after fresh
installation? And why is MailTicker such small? Please test it on such
big screen too.

for where to install. Apparently, it assumes you want to install in
same location as original. In custom mode you got the choices of what
to install but not where :( .

I chose custom install for two reasons. One was to disable Bayesit
install, another was to change the path to my nonstandard path
installation.
The change button is on the same menu page as the other options for
installation. After setting bayesit not to install I noticed that no
path was listed by the grayed out change button. That is when I chose
to click next, then back. Both the path and change button were
available then.
This is not normal behavior for MSI as I use them alot and most if not
all of my installs go to my dedicated program partition instead of
default.

Well, you can choose the installation path for every feature on its own. If
you disabled BayesIt it doesn't make sense to change the path any longer, it
gets disabled. For any other feature it should still be possible to change
the path.

That is common for MSI installations. What is uncommon for The Bat! setup is
that you can't choose your installation path without choosing custom.

Hi George!
I fired up the .msi file using my account which belongs to the
administrators group. If SYSTEM has no rights to the installation
directory this is what the user would get.
The Windows Installer runs as a service in the system account. So it needs
access to the .msi file. (But I still don't get why it can read the package
but fails if it should extract a file out of it.)

So you use the Home Edition of XP?

Ritlabs should include a macro to provide that information in the sig, too
:-)

I will download and test that with Home. There is nothing special in the
installation package. I wonder why it should be problematic with Home.

Arrgh. Maybe Ritlabs should change the names of the The Bat! versions...

If you don't have XP Home please have a look at the security settings of the
directory you have the installation package. Is there an entry for SYSTEM?
If not try to copy the setup package to another place e.g. your "My
Documents" directory, and try the installation again.

The first try crashed the system - all programs hanged (maybe due to a
conflict with a running program). I used the "custom install"...

The next try after system rebooting with "complete install" worked
fine...

By the way: Doubleclick on a link in an email opens two Firefox
windows. (Same with right click and "Diesen Link öffnen"-"open this
link"). Only one click on a link doesn't do anything.
Can anyone confirm this? Is that a known bug?

The exact same happened to me using Windows 98SE (my beta test
box) except I had closed all my running programs beforehand other
than Nod32 AV.

Home version installed without a problem. The original icons are still
too large to fit on my screen, but I re-activated my old glyphs.bmp,
which works fine now.

Good thing, I can at last verify PGP signatures in encrypted mails. :-)
