Accidental Helicopter Beheading

Does anyone remember hearing about a father getting off of a helicopter and
greating his child with a throw in the air? I swear that I read that in the
newspaper and it has stuck with me. Now I question whether I really read it
or it was planted as a UL?
Searched urbanlegends archive for helicopter and got forest fire scuba diver
and searched dejanews and got some cartoon crap.
Anyone recall such a story?

As a very late update to this, sadly, the father committed suicide in March of this year.

rotor head to the mast.

Yes the pilot was called Nicolas Hawkings-Byass who committed suicide last year see under this name reports in several newspapers!

I was trying to look up a similar case that lead me to this page. Another accident like this occurred in the US, way back in the mid-60s. I remember hearing it reported on the radio, I was only 6 or 7 when it happened - a gruesome tragedy. This time it was a little boy, whose father lifted him up too high while standing right under the blades of a helicopter. I tried to find an old news item about it, but no luck so far.

You may have already heard this. It happened May 5,1996, in Gloucestershire, England, Great Britain.
Nicholas Hawkings-Byass.
He killed himself in 2014.
His poor wife Clare!

You certainly were not mistaken as I vividly recall watching the report in total disbelief. Like you, this has remained with me to the point that every 2-3yrs I find I tend make reference to it. My thoughts over the years have always been for the inner strength and peace of the Father. I can’t imagine that there’s a word or a cluster of words in the English language, (or any tongue for that matter) that could convey in it’s entirety what this Father would’ve been experiencing from that day forward. I’d often wonder how he was coping in life. I had no idea he committed suicide until I read it here. While it came as quite a shock, I understandand deep down i’m not surprised. Bless, he’s now free of pain. ✨

Wow , the original poster was using one of those big box computers when he posted that . I was born in '95 so those are still kinda in my memory.
