What's the point in using that word if you don't turn into Captain Marvel?

Still works as an exclamation though, just like "Zoinks!", "Great
Caesar's Ghost!" or "By the hoary hosts of Hoggoth!"...

(Anyone remember without looking it up what comics character used to
exclaim "Sockamagee!"?)...r

Jim Nabors also owned one of the largest Macadamia Nut farms in the world, and I guess the joke was on us that at one time or another, just about all of us have eaten Jim Nabors nuts.

Speaking of Jim Nabors jokes, thanks to my elementary school days, I can't
think about him without thinking, "Surprise, surprise, surprise! That
ain't my finger!"

There was another Jim Nabors joke I once heard: "Rock Hudson didn't have many friends, but he had Nabors up the ass."

That’s a joke?
And you know the Hudson/Nabors stuff was false, right?

I heard one about how they buried Liberace face down so Rock could stop by for a cold one. Something like that. Such jokes may be childish, but truth is some of the best jokes I've ever heard were childish. They can't be bad if they live on. One that comes to mind that I heard as a kid that I still think is witty is:

Q: "Why do farts smell?

A: So deaf people can enjoy them too.

That's adult humor for children, or childish humor for adults. Either way no one knows the author and no one needs to know the author because it has a timeless edge to it.

Billy Batson's Uncle Dudley would say it and nothing happened to him.

Billy Batson's Uncle Dudley would say it and nothing happened to him.
So there was no reason for him to use it.

Yeah, I remember that one, too, and decided to leave it in fourth grade (that's when I heerd it, Johnny).

That joke is so jejeune that I, who ordinarily revels in tacky celebrity jokes, won't even flesh it out.

(Of course, you know what "jejeune" is ... it comes right after "M-May.")
"Rock Hudson didn't have many friends, but he had Nabors up the ass."
That's pretty tacky, Johnny, but that ain't the way I heerd it; the way I heerd it is this:

"Ever since he announced he had AIDS, ..." [insert Hudson/Nabors line here].

Whoever was behind the "Rock Hudson and Jim Nabors Wedding Invitation" incident in the early 70's must have known both men were gay, as it was known in show business circles but not known outside Hollywood and in those days the media still protected celebrities. Apparently the wedding invitations were meant as some sort of private joke sent out between friends but the wrong person got one and it became a big story.
