(though not from experience, just other dramas). The Lily one I'm not so

If it's a plotline about students and tutors having a relationship,
it's really not believable at all these days. There are soooooooooo
many rules about appropriate behaviour and ALL staff will have had
more training on it than it is possible to forget. Pretty much any
physical contact with students, unless it's with those who have some
form of disability, is heavily discouraged. Not that there's any
desire to touch most of them!

I don't think it was. AFAIR, it was not long after Alan and Usha had
married and Amy had taken against having Usha as her step-mother but was
living with them, so things were fairly uncomfortable. She then fell in
love with an unsuitable chap; I can't remember how old he was but he was
married (I don't think Amy knew this, at least at first). It was Usha
who picked up the pieces, when things went pear-shaped and this
reconciled Amy to the idea of having Usha as a step-mother.

She's 18, so it's not illegal for her to be in a relationship with a
lecturer but he would be likely to lose his job over it if/when it

A peripatetic music teacher of my acquaintance had a lengthy relationship
with one of her ex-pupils. His parents tried to sue the music school and/or
my friend but as they waited until he was over 16 and was no longer her

I don't know if younger/older equates with sweeter/sourer but in my
experience, smells fragrant/smells of cats pee really makes a difference
to the taste. I always smell the flowers before I pick them and avoid
any trees with unpleasant-smelling flowers.

Hint: if you are planning to make anything with elderberries later in
the year, I find it is well worth remembering which trees had the
better-smelling flowers because the better-tasting berries will come
from those.

Hm, I've a feeling I've said this before but if your elderflowers smell of
cat pee they are not elderflowers - possibly valerian (very similar
flowers) or viburnum.

Flowering currant flowers smell of cat's pee and my father would complain
about them if he caught a whiff but they don't look at all like elder and
produce no berries. Other currants smell of it too but I doubt you'd
confuse the plants.

Well the elderflowers around here (not very far from "Ambridge") are not
yet out.

Down on the North Downs I always reckoned they burst into blossom in June
and as soon as I noticed we'd get rain every day for two or three weeks.

Hereabouts the May is out, the Rowan is out, a lot of Viburnums are out and
if the current weather continues, the elder won't be long. Then I guess
we'll get some more rain.
