Quraysh Tribe Today?

Does the Quraysh tribe still exist today? I understand that some
believe that the Caliph must belong to that tribe. I know that Muhammad
was a member of that tribe and has descendents but does that tribe
itself still exist today or because of intermarriage in Arabia over the
centuries tribal identification has blended and blurred making specific
tribal identification possible?

That is easy enough. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, harbors quite a number
of Quraysh, as they are direct descendants of the Prophet, Peace Be Upon
Him.

Off topic, though, is the fact that Saudi Arabia is now governed by desert
Arabs, the Bedouins.

We all *know* how low on the totem pole the Bedouins are/were in Arab
literature.

descedancy the Prophet (S) is not a condition of being from among
Quraysh. Many of the Sahabah (R) were from among the Quraysh,
including the first three khaleephas.

Very true. I did not imply otherwise. What I said was: To find a Quraisy
nowadays you can look at the Hashemite Royal Family of Jordan. And not:
Quraish are Only from Prophet PBUH's descendants.

I understand, and I wanted to point this out. Because it is often
missed in the context of Muslim discussions, especially because of the
sunni-shia division. In fact, most Muslims are ignorant of it and do
not take this into account. The descendants of the Quraysh are
probably so widespread because of the rapid expanse of Muslim society
and integration with different cultures, it would be difficult to
ascertain who has Qurayshi blood and who doesn't.

Yes your right. i am part of the hashemite family of jordan. My ancestors w=
ere kicked out of saudi arabia for no reason. we came to Palestine and Jord=
an. we are basicly all close cousins of eachother. the king of jordan is al=
so hashemite. in fact my grandfather knew his father. when my ancestors cam=
eto palestine. they became farmers some stayed some came to jordan. also we=
have family in iraq. yemen taif KSA and pakistan and india and some even f=
rom iran. well at least that;s what they say.
