i have found that it is gmail that causes the crash for me- i can use
chrome with all other pages, no issue, but as soon as i open gmail the
computer freezes.

disabling hardware acceleration made no difference.

I have rolled back to Chrome version 237 and disabled auto-update. I've had
no more issues since.

So thanks #46! I hope tat's just a temporary fix though...

Not sure if this has already been mentioned. I took a chance &
used "incognito" mode with no success. So with extensions disabled, it
still freezes.
Where do I find the older versions of Chrome?

For #57 finally mentioned that merely has Chrome running is enough to
freeze system, I think it is time to offer my rather rare experience too.

In my case the system can be froze with only Chrome and only NTP opened as
well. In fact all of my freezes occurred in this state, while I was
sleeping i.e. the computer was totally idle except Chrome itself which
equipped with some automatic mechanism.

And here comes the "rare" bit I want to tell: as soon as the freeze
happened, my hard disk became solid accessed. The freeze wouldn't recover
and the hard disk wouldn't stop, yet it left no any log after hard shutdown
as others.
I am pretty convinced this is only me however, since I haven't seen anyone
mentioned this these two months.

In a side note, there was once happened while I was manipulating the
computer.
I was playing a little 2D adventure game which did not utilizing GPU. I
browsed a webpage about the game, closed it so Chrome was again with only
NTP opened, then Alt+Tab back to the game, hitting enter attempted to
continue the game dialogue, the system froze.

Since all other cases are with only Chrome, I don't believe the game was
really related to the freeze.
But the split second the freeze occurred and the symptom that the hard disk
would be strangled by the freeze seemed to me that it had something to do
with IO, and Chrome was messing up them.

Well in short all I want to say is that, developers really should forgo
requesting users to test various conditions. Just try to find a box that
you could reproduce yourself to see. As the freeze could emerge under
VARIOUS conditions.

#63 There do have investigations taking place under other similar reports
like issue 261204, but developers have yet to pinpoint the nature of these
freezes (and to keep the investigation threads out of noises) before
confirming we are all the exactly same issue.

Has been happening to me too for the last couple weeks. I suspect it is a
Chrome + nVidia error. Hope this gets fixed...very close to switching

I think this is a multimedia problem rather than just GPU. The reason is
because I can run Chrome just fine for hours while also running
graphics-heavy games and other applications and not have a problem as long
as I'm using my headphones for audio (Logitech G930; GPU is nVidia GTX 560
Ti). If I switch audio output to my motherboard's optical or digital out,
Chrome crashes within seconds or minutes of starting. This leads me to
believe there's something buggy in Chrome's handling of Flash or some other
video & audio player.

Comment #75 on issue 259165 by jeremyholton: Chrome 28 hanging windows 7 x64
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=259165

This is an update to my previous report. To recap:
* I had the Windows freeze problem with Chrome 28 beta
* Dropped back to Chrome 27 fixed the problem
* When 28 was released the problem returned
* I can cause a Windows freeze by running a Yahoo CAPTCHA and nothing else
except some Windows 64 background processes. That is only running Chrome
with no extensions and only one tab open.
* The problem was occurring several times each day with no obvious pattern
but recently I haven't had a spontaneous freeze.
* As I am now on Chrome 29 beta I thought it might have been fixed so I ran
the Yahoo CAPTCHA and it caused Windows to freeze exactly as before.

If Google staff are reading this surely you realise that the many people
reporting here must be just the tip of the iceberg, so thousands of your
users must be dropping Chrome due to this problem.

As far as I know the technology media has not picked up on this yet but
they will and won't your competitors have a field day!

It must be fixed!

Right now for the past few days, I'm using Chrome 27 without a problem.

When I tried Chrome 28, 29 or 30, it just crashes after a period of time. I
don't have to be doing anything. I just leave Chrome open and at some point
my entire system hangs.

Something changed from 27 to 28 that is causing this issue on Windows 7
64-Bit systems.

We are still investigating the issue but there is not much to say so far.
We have not been able to get a local reproduction.

However, the real problem lies within the kernel of the OS (looks like part
of DirectX' logic) so it has to be fixed by Microsoft. We are trying to
find a work around.

#81, I don't understand how version 27 of chrome works but version 28
doesn't and yet you're stating its a Microsoft issue? It seems as though
v28 uses some aspects of directX that v27 doesn't. Can you just make that
"feature" an option, similar to "hardware acceleration"? Or maybe that
feature in v28 is just ahead of its time and after collaborating with MS
and coming to a resolution, then releasing that "feature".

If you can't reproduce it locally, what can any of us do to help you?
Obviously we can reproduce repeatedly and easily. There are many remote
control systems out there, geez, lets get on the phone, u can drive and
we'll maybe get somewhere? TeamViewer, LogmeIn, Hangout, skype sharing,
etc. etc. etc. there are many options, this should not be a limitation. Are
any of you in Southern California, need to meet at Starbucks?

One thing I haven't tried is creating another user profile on my machine
and seeing if the issue appears there as well. anyone else tried this?

Win 7, 64x....stable, beta and canary all lock up windows, requires hard
reboot. Sony Vaio VPCF121FX, my father-in-law's computer does the same
thing. Limping along with Firefox but would like to get back to Chrome.
Especially since my Chromecast is on the way soon....

same symptoms as everyone here...complete locking of the computer
necessitating a hard shutdown/reset...no crash log recorded.Scrolling down
on the Google+ page is a guaranteed instsnt lock up for me, other sites can
sit for multiple minutes before locking.

Win 7 64bit. Crashes with chrome 28 upwards...stable, beta and canary. Can
only assume that this is connected to the change to the Blink rendering
engine as all previous versions worked with no problems.
All "solutions" suggested have been tried to no avail. Completely clean
install with no extensions crashes too so can't be an extension problem.

This started the moment chrome updated from version 27 to 28. Installing an
old version of 27 is the only current solution to keep using chrome

Same problem - using Google's own products like gmail or calendar through
chrome tabs freezes windows 7. Kind of removes a major advantage of chrome,
don't you think.
Has cost me several hours productivity so far and motivated me to go to
other browsers.
This problem has been around for days and Google appear to have done
nothing.
It is not acceptable that Google leave 28 out there as their current
version when it is doing so much damage to thousands, maybe millions of
users.
Forcing a dud browser on us that crashes our machines looks like doing evil
to me, Google.
It's a shame because I have promoted Google and its products to numerous
corporate clients that I consult too. I will be forced now to include this
little horror story.
Releasing v28 is going to do a lot of damage.

I agree with the previous poster, not only is doing me damage but also I
lose face and trust with people I recommend Google to.

I want to know:

IS GOOGLE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM?
ARE THEY TAKING IT SERIOUSLY?
WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO FIX IT?
WHEN WILL IT BE FIXED?

or I shall be forced to bad mouth Google, and as a long term fan boi it
will be difficult

Comment #105 on issue 259165 by ***@gmail.com: Chrome 28 hanging windows

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=259165

The strangest part is this, google chrome is "marketed" as the browser for
everyone, regardless of skill level, a browser that just works, and works
easily and well. I know if my dad had this issue he would freak out and not
have any idea how to report it or even that he could, he would just go back
to using IE. I'm sure what most others have done.

I agree, v28 should be pulled from the auto-update until a fix is found.

If people have switched back to IE because chrome is crashing their
computer on v28, how eager are they going to be to start up chrome again
just to see if there's an update, and even if there is an update, how long
will chrome run to download the update before it locks up their machines?
If it behaves like mine they have about 30sec to start chome, check for
updates, download and install them. Not going to happen. The reality is
they probably don't even know their browser is being updated and they think
its something they're doing wrong. In the end Chrome will lose users, ones
who won't even know they should look back.

Any word on official roll back feature?

@Devs...is this a common thing with every release and its just us that have
experienced it this time around?

Windows 7 x64, GeForce GTX 660, 16GB RAM, i7-930 CPU, Gigabyte MoBo,
browser hard freezes the system randomly on pages. Have experienced it on
YouTube, Creative Cow, etc. Seems to mostly trigger for multimedia events
that are HTML5 based in my experience. Fix it! Have lost a lot of work
with my computer always hard freezing and forcing a restart.

Turned updates back on and updated to 28.0.1500.72 (Official Build 211400) m

Chrome still crashes, but not as often. Seems to crash on every startup IF
I have Outlook 2007 (32-bit) running. Not required, but in 5 tries it
crashes every time if Outlook is open. Close Outlook and crashing stops.

About to go back to IE so I can get some work done.

Adding myself to the list.

- Windows 7 64-bits Family Premium
- ATI Radeon HD 5700
- i5 760 @ 2.8 GHZ
- 4 Go RAM

Thing is, I have Chrome also installed on a much less powerful computer at
work, with all the same extensions; and it never freezes. So I'm pretty
sure the issue is one of compatibility with the Windows 7 environment.

Comment #109 on issue 259165 by ***@gmail.com: Chrome 28 hanging

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=259165

I've been having the same issue; computer freezes, must press the power
button to restart. It's been happening since before July 19. It's
definitely Chrome; I've re-installed my OS and replaced nearly every piece
of hardware. It usually happens when I have only Chrome open and nothing
else (including having all but Microsoft start-up services disabled).
Nothing out of the ordinary appears in the Windows Event Viewer program; I
haven't had Chrome crash logs enabled, but they are now.

Google Chrome Version 28.0.1500.72 m
Windows 7 64-bit
8GB RAM
Intel i3 CPU

It usually happens less than a minute after opening Chrome, but sometimes,
it works for hours. It's happened with multiple tabs, single tabs,
Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google Search... three times today at least,
generally once or twice every day since it's started happening.

I usually use 11 extensions, but I've been disabling most of them lately,
except generally Adblock Plus 1.5.2 and LastPass 2.0.24.

If there's any more information I can provide, I'd be glad to help.

An update: The Windows freezes seem to have stopped altogether in normal
use whereas it was freezing several times every day. However, I just
checked to see if the Yahoo CAPTCHA caused a freeze and it did. So the
problem is still there on my laptop.

Only thing I can add to all the above except frustration is that when you
run Chrome in "Safe Mode" ie 32 bit drivers it works perfectly (which is
what I am using now) When you go back to 64 bit it freezes.

Anyone who has this issue, can you navigate to the about:conflicts page and
see if there is anything unusual or even better, post it here? Also, if
anything shows up in about:crashes that would be helpful. Thanks.

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=259165

I have looked at about:crashes and about:conflicts before and they don't
show anything useful. I just checked again and it shows 'No conflicts'.
There are several crashes over the past month but not at the times the
Windows has frozen as far as I can see.

I reiterate that I can 100% reproduce the freeze using the Yahoo CAPTCHA.
It does not occur with other CAPTCHAs. It always occurs after the 4th or
5th character of the CAPTCHA is entered and before I hit the Enter key (I
never get that far).

So the Yahoo CAPTCHA is doing something after 4 characters have been
entered that interacts with Chrome and Windows in some way which causes
Windows to crash.

I know you guys can't reproduce the problem with your machines but I assume
you could trace what Yahoo is doing at the time of the CAPTCHA which might
give you a clue as to what is going on.

Its not always the 4th character that it freezes on and I suppose it could
be time related so I will do a test entering the characters very slowly.
Its just such a pain having to reboot Windows all the time

Another question. Who does or does not have Microsoft Office installed and,
it installed, which version?

Both about:conflicts so far indicate Office might be installed and someone
else mentioned Outlook, which is part of Office. There might be some kind
of incompatibility with Chrome 28.

#121 --> Microsoft Office Professional 2010, which includes Outlook and is
typically the only Office product open all the time. Note - this is a
32bit version of Office on a Windows 7 x64 machine (the 64bit version of
Office 2010 was not available when the system was built).

Also - my work system is a Windows 7 x64 system with Office 2010 installed
plus Chrome and has no issues. Not sure which version (32 bit or 64 bit is
installed though.

no longer have chrome 28 installed so can't supply the about:conflicts
data, but I do have MS Office 2010 installed. When I started computer in
safe mode, which doesn't load outlook, for one of my tests looking into the
crashes , I couldn't get a crash to happen so you may be on to something
there.

I will reiterate that it isn't just version 28, the crashes occur with beta
28m and canary (ver 32?)so the conflict must be with a part of the code
common to these versions but not with v 27

I had a new clean install of Windows 7 64 just a couple of months ago and I
only have MS Access installed from the Office Suite on this machine. I
haven't used Outlook for years (thank goodness) so I don't think its
connected with Office.

I had the problem with 28 beta, 28 release and 29 beta but not 27.
Although as I reported an hour ago the problem seems to have gone away

Comment #130 on issue 259165 by ***@gmail.com: Chrome 28 hanging
windows 7 x64
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=259165

so I now have 2 PC's running Win 7 Pro SP1
Both with chrome 28.0.1500.72 m
One with Office installed which freezes and one without Office that
doesn't. There are other differences so I am not convinced it is Office. In
any event uninstalling Office is not an answer. Guess which PC I am using
Chrome on to send this.
Now to focus on the freezer and a few other observations about it:
1. Chrome works fine as a basic browser as long as you don't use Gmail or
Calendar (and maybe other Google products). It usually freezes within a few
seconds of opening Gmail in a Chrome tab and hard boot is the only
recovery. A most disgraceful breach of user experience that started with
v28.
2. Safe mode mode works - tried other apps with chrome tabs for gmail,
calendar etc and nothing froze it.
The unfreezing PC is in 64 bit mode so I don't think those drivers are the
cause.
I tried reconfiguring Office on the freezer to deinstall Outlook but that
didn't help - still freezes a few seconds into gmail tab.
This all started happening when Chrome 28 was forced on me.
I am learning how to manage Safari to achieve a similar tabbed ease-of-use
that I used to rely on Chrome for.
Back to more productive work. Good luck with Chrome those of you who stick
with it.
I will keep using it on the computer that doesn't matter much.

chrome://crashes/ did not report anything, even after several crashes.

I'm not sure what would be out of the ordinary in chrome://conflicts/. I'm
currently using version 27, so I don't know if this is any help. At the
top, it says "Modules (124) - No conflicts detected". The only ones related

http://games.yahoo.com/games/ante?room=spades_int_e&size=1258790&prof_id=chat_pf_1

(you will have to be signed into Yahoo for this link to work)

following the same link with Firefox is a non-issue.

Only happens on work computer using Windows 7 Pro. No problems on home
computer Windows 7 (not pro version). Both machines have MS Office 2010
installed.

Its a HARD freeze requiring cold shutdown. Everything quits working.
Sometimes mouse tracking light even goes out.

Also want to mention that Yahoo games is the only place I get hangs with
Chrome. Have had no issues with Gmail, Youtube, Etc. I know Yahoo games
uses Java, not sure if it uses Flash.

Comment #142 on issue 259165 by ***@gmail.com: Chrome 28 hanging

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=259165

So a colleague showed me a way to fix Chrome from crashing. Search
Programs and Files for "EMET" (Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit) and
open program. At the bottom of the window, click "Configure Apps" which
opens up a new window. Click the "All" tab and deselect the "chrome.exe"
row for column named "SEHOP" (see attached picture). Restart Chrome
separately which should fix your problem (for now).

Further information can be found here -
http://blogs.technet.com/b/srd/archive/2010/09/02/enhanced-mitigation-experience-toolkit-emet-v2-0-0.aspx

Hope this helps!

Can you try these things to help me diagnose?

1) Try running Chrome with this command line switch and let me know if it
has any effect on stability:
--no-sandbox

It will display a warning infobar.

2) Navigate to the about:conflicts page and post the contents here if you
haven't already.

3) Check to see if "EMET" (Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit) is
installed as mentioned in #142.

Thanks.

I've noticed that when my hang occurs (often with pages that have a Flash
applet, though it's not always obvious, as some Flash is used for ads or
clipboard support) it doesn't just stall Chrome, but my entire system.
Could this be a kernel interaction issue?

Chrome 28.0.1500.95 m
AMD Phenom II X4 840 (x64 4 cores)
8GB RAM, Windows 7 (6.1 SP1 Build 7601)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560
2 Active Displays

It would be interesting if future reports could include the number of
output devices they're using at the time of the crash.

Hey there. Previous poster. Went back for a bit today as I had a printing
issue on Firefox. Page printed properly on Chrome. Thought I'd stick
around. Maybe 6 minutes until it froze requiring a hard reset. Just
thought I'd pass it on.

Comment #163 on issue 259165 by ***@gmail.com: Chrome 28 hanging

Hi
It would be really great help if you can answer few
questions/experiments:-
Sure, the issue needs to be fixed! ;-)
1. what is machine hardware configuration ?
- Intel Core i7, 12G RAM
- ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series (Black Knight)
2. is there any anti-virus installed ? (what is that?)
AVG Internet Security 2013
3. is your machine in power saving mode ? (or any specific configuration)
No, normal desktop system with no special settings regarding this.
4. can you reproduce the issue with new user profile
(chrome://settings/createProfile)
Same problem. Create profile, go to youtube.com, play a movie. Bam!
5. open just incognito window and use and see if this freezes ?
Same problem. Create profile, go to youtube.com, play a movie. Bam!
6. have you installed any extension recently which started causing the
issue ?
No.
7. can you attach these info when freeze/crash occurs:-
attach minidump:-
http://www.chromium.org/for-testers/bug-reporting-guidelines/hanging-tabs
Impossible. The whole system freezes and hard reset is necessary. :-(
chrome://gpu
Attached.
chrome://conflicts/
Attached.
chrome://tracing/ [record tracing when chrome hung and attach via
file uploader or google drive; file is large]
Impossible, see above point for minidump.
Thanks in advance.
Your welcome.

Kind regards,
Yves

auto "update" everyone back to 27, until the issue is fixed.

Issue similar to 163 Starwars. Eventually completely deleted and
re-installed chrome.

solid again.
Repeated excercise with exactly same result.

Guess I'm back to Firefox to you fix this.

1) Always happens on chats from livechatinc.com after logging in to
whichever chat they host. Mostly within 1-2 seconds after filling user
details and pressing submit button.

2) Seems to be unrelated to plugins, because disabling all (flash, naci,
native/adobe's pdf reader, etc) and setting "Click to run" for Plugins in
Content Settings doesn't make any difference.

3) Seems to be unrelated to hardware acceleration and compositioning in
separate thread (set through flags with restart). Error rate stays the same
100%.

4) What makes absolute change is disabling of JavaScript in options. No
errors in this mode.

5) Side note: randomly, ga.js from google analytics takes 26 seconds to
run, during which computer freezes with very high disk I/O (assumed from
noise and blinking diode).

I would look more into V8 in 28 in this case.

Affected browsers: Chrome 28.0.1500.71, Opera 15
System info: Toshiba A500-132 (Core 2 Duo with ATI 4600HD), Win 7 64-bit

Comment #179 on issue 259165 by ***@href.com: Chrome 28 hanging
windows 7 x64
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=259165

I have had total system freeze with Chrome Version 28.0.1500.95 m (current)
going back several weeks to about 14-July-2013 when I tested 28.0.1500.72 m
and version 28.0.1500.71 m.

This hard freeze happens only in Chrome (not Firefox, not IE) and only on
certain web pages.

It does not involve you-tube and it does not involve any flash plug-ins.
When I tested and experienced the crash a few minutes ago, I had zero (0)
extensions enabled. I had my headset plugged in -- therefore no audio
through the system speakers.

Laptop model is VAIO_VPCF115FM
Windows7 64-bit Home Premium
Intel i7
See attachment for CPUID report.

For what it's worth, I tested the same version of Chrome inside VirtualBox
using WinXP on the same laptop (as host) -- and that works. The VirtualBox
is configured to have only 1 cpu.

In my opinion, the problem happens on PHYSICAL machines not VIRTUAL ones.
If the Chrome team insists on trying to solve this by testing virtual
machines they will not get real far.

I am attaching my CPUID report in txt format. Obviously this problem
happens on a wide range of systems. I would imagine that someone at Google
can afford to buy at least one machine that will reproduce the problem. I
will sell my laptop to Google and I'm sure plenty of others would, too.
Not joking.

I can reproduce this problem 100% reliably within a few seconds of using
Chrome on a given web page which is part of our intranet.

And of course I have no "crash report" because the hardware freezes and I
have to power off, power on.

I truly hope that the Google QA team wakes up and realizes that this Chrome
problem is WIDESPREAD and FATAL. It is worse for Google than for us. We
can use Firefox, Opera, IE or whatever but Google stands to lose its
reputation. Three weeks with no real fix ?!? No real dialog with
developers who clearly have tried everything under the sun to diagnose the
problem?!?

I have not tested Canary. I am not sure how many more hard freezes Windows
7 can tolerate before it corrupts my OS partition.

Ann

locked up same as the previous versions.

Windows 7 Home Premium, version 6.1, Build 7601, Service Pack 1

Please, I beg you to keep at this, I realize there may not be a number of

30.0.1588.2 killed my PC in less than about 5 seconds, having only ever
shown me a blank page with a yellow banner offering to restore my pages
from the previous lockup, and its own About page.

Comment #182 on issue 259165 by ***@gmail.com: Chrome 28 hanging
windows 7 x64
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=259165

Hi,
I installed a Canary build, didn't have a choice which one to install and
ended up with 30.0.1589.0.
I have Win7 Ultimate, SP1, 64bit, CPU i5, ATI Radeon.

My PC locked again half a minute after going to gmail...
I don't have any issues when I open it and end with a blank page, or check
the version...

In terms of other software, I used to have AVG when the problem started to
occur, now I have avast. The problem happens with both.
I never had Microsoft Office installed on this PC.

In terms of Chrome Extensions, on freshly installed Chromium I have avast,
Google Docs 0.5 and Yahoo Mail Checker enabled.
I am attaching gpu and conflicts files. I can't attach traces when it
happens because the PC locks completely...

I really want to stress that the issue is blocking, started long time ago,
close to a month now, and no real communication from google about this.
The proposed workaround is quite strange because version 27 can't be
downloaded from google. I would assume you would want to have it publicly
available on your site, and have it as official version instead of version
28.
If you need some more information, please ask. There are also millions of
tools that can be used to obtain more details using remote desktop, vnc etc.

Thank you,
Maggie.

I have just tried the Canary build 30.0.1589.0 and the same lockup happened
for me, when trying to use this page:
http://herdingcode.com/wp-content/uploads/HerdingCode-0175-NDC-Dominick-Baier.mp3

I have Win 7 Ultimate, SP1, 64 bit, Core i5, NVidia GPU. I'm using
Microsoft Security Essentials.

I had no extensions loaded in Canary for the issue to happen.

I've got the same issue. Chrome freezing up my computer. I'm exactly sure,
but it seems to happen with sites that use HTML5 audio or video players.

Another problem I've encountered is also that Facebook freezes, not the
computer. It will let you log in, but the Newsfeed page freezes and won't
let you scroll down while it endlessly tries to "load".

These are issues exclusive to Chrome for me, Firefox and IE work fine.

Based on success rate posted here ( shane j only happy one ) and complexity
(channels ? ) , I think I will continue with Firefox and check back here
once in a while. Still using Chrome on iPhone, iPad, and laptop with no
issues.

liesenfeld, there's a flag on the about:flags page that might help with
that. It's called "Disable hardware-accelerated video decode". It forces it
to use the CPU rather than the GPU for playing H264 video. Confusingly, you
click the "Enable" link to disable it (it enables the disabling!).

If the system hangs too early to do that, there's a command line switch
that does the same thing.

--disable-accelerated-video-decode

My approach to "a fix" had two basis points:
1) I did a system restore (Win 8, et al) to try to fix this problem, from
about mid-July, and,
2) I had just reinstalled and updated java, because I couldn't get the
annoyance to stop.

So, I uninstalled Java. No lockups all day.

It's a data point ...

Re: #175 -- Windows is not locking up for me; Chrome is. It either hangs
(and I kill it) or I get the Oops... dialog. On 28.0.1500.72 (Official
Build 211400) m, it happens less frequently (i.e. I can launch it sometimes
when running Outlook), but still happens.

Also still happens (but with less frequency) when not running Outlook.

Have you been able to repro?

Still having this problem, pages freeze when not even doing anything, and
they are only text-based pages with AdBlock on and nothing fancy being
shown. I have Microsoft Office 2010 installed (as do most people, I don't
think that's a problem) but I've had no Office programs open during these
crashes.

It's clear this problem happened when the build jumped from 27 to 28...most
machines are Win 7 x64, i7, PCI video card. There has to be a way to
isolate this problem.

I've been a longtime user of pretty much every major Windows browser out
there for twenty years now (Netscape Navigator/Communicator, Internet
Explorer, Firefox, etc.), using each browser exclusively for years at a
time, and never have I experienced the utter broken-ness of this most
recent Chrome build. My computer has probably crashed 60 times now in the
last month. It's a free program; we're entitled to nothing, but this is
still the worst thing I've ever seen when it comes to internet browsers.
Quite the feat for one of the largest companies in the world.

I'm only getting occasional freezes, usually when i open a new web-page
(possibly ones with Flash content?).

The system will lock totally for 10-40s. Pressing ctrl-alt-del does
nothing, but when the system unfreezes, suddenly the ctrl-alt-del takes
effect.

I have one extension (Ad Block Plus) and I MS OFfice 2010.

Come on Google, I'm seriously thinking of switching to Firefox over this.
Post some sort of response at least asking the community who can reproduce
this reliably for help.

Just tried Canary version 30.0.1590.3. The problem is still there. My PC
locked up within about 10 seconds of launching it. Am now back on version
27.0.1453.116 again, which is the latest working version I could find.

I also experience the same crashing with 30.0.1590.3 canary.

On a related note, I just realized that I have the /exact/ same laptop as
the guy in #35:
"Acer Aspire 8943G laptop, Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit, i7 Intel CPU 8g RAM,
Radeon HD5850"

Hey, One of my laptops has been freezing daily for the past couple of weeks
as well and another once every few days; after looking through these post I
see that it looks like everyone has tried a little bit of something... when
will the Chrome folks come up with an answer? Its been a month of questions
but very few answers. This is getting a little ridiculous!

After weeks of shutting down my PC several times a day I am going back to

Very disappointing...
