A bit surprising that Canada has been cancelled. The track is on a island so easily isolated. Mirabel airport to the north of Montreal is not used for passenger traffic so easy to bring in gear through there. Highways between the to so no risks involved there. Had to be either financial or politics.

Might not make financial sense to travel all the way to North America
for a single race, especially if the sanctioning fee would have been
reduced due to no spectators. Also the available slots were getting a
bit late in the season for reliable Canadian weather. Canada *is* being
careful - the Toronto Blue Jays (only Canadian team in Major League
Baseball) were told they couldn't hold games in Toronto. They'll mostly
be using the minor league park in Buffalo where their AAA team usually
plays.

Interestingly, the NHL has relaunched their season based entirely in Canada. They have used a hub model with all games played in Toronto and/or Edmonton. The players and limited number of support staff stay in designated hotels for the duration, even those living locally. No fans attend any of the games.

Australasian Rugby League did the same thing a couple of months ago.

You get that despite a huge effort to reduce it's spread, 650,000 people
have died in just a little more than 6 months.

That's hardly "harmless"

Increasing numbers are experiencing major health effects from a mild infection. Some damage will be long term and permanent.

Tell that to the family and friends of the many who have died. And the many others who are still suffering months after "recovery"?
