Fill in this form with your annoying neighbors address, send it in
& watch the fireworks. Great birthday entertainment. ;o)

Speaking of flyorvers, did anything else happen in the case of Richard
Webb, the F-18E pilot who got busted for putting on an unauthorized
airshow over his hometown in California in January of last year? Last
I heard, he was busted after he made a flyover of the airfield at San
Lusi Obispo, but then began a private war against the local guy whose
complaint led to his being stripped of his flight status.

The real problem wasnt that he made a flyover but that he did so
at almost mach 1 at an altitude of less than 100 ft in an air corridor
with a max speed restriction of 230mph at that altitude while having less
than 15 hours on the type. He then made things even worse by
orchestrating an e-mail campaign against the individual who complained
about his reckless flying.

One F-18 instructor said "This kid was an accident waiting to happen.
It was a blessing they got to him before he killed somebody and that was
something that was going to happen."

That sounds about right. No serious;y, I was just trying to keep
things brief, and didn't know the specifics (actual speed, actual speed
limit, teh category of airspace, his time-in-type).

I think that part sort of killed him on this NG - we're trusting a
spoiled kid with a million-dollar, high-performance airplane? Yet the
complaining individual was also firing back. I guess it became a
non-issue once Webb got his orders for that desk in Qatar.

The weird thing was that he'd been an aviator for years - so that
accident had a long wait. Yet that itself isn;t implausible - when
this topic appeared on the NG last year, some posters referred to a
horrific incident involving a B-52 at an airshow - lost in a fatal
crash under the controls of a veteran pilot with a history of safety
problems.

A 44 million dollar high-performance airplane. Oh well. How long before
the self-justifying Kelly Flynn/Scott Waddle type book appears?

Thats what did it for me, had he admitted he screwed up
and apologised I'd probably have agreed that permanent
grounding was a little harsh
