where he ran through an airport. After seeing those commercials,
I had an epiphany. He was running very fast, and I thought of
general relativity. Essentially, the faster one is moving relative to
the movements of other objects (or persons), the more stationary
obstacles become. It occurred to me that if I ran fast enough
through the local shopping mall, that I could run unimpeded by
other persons, as relative to my movement, their future positions
were predictable, as they changed only slightly.
Of course, I had to try it. As luck had it, it worked, and I never made
contact with another person. Back then I was a very fast runner,
and had great reaction time. I quit running several years ago,
resigning myself to being old and fat, and having the knees of an
old man who is fat.

One of our cars was a '65 Plymouth Fury III two - door hardtop in medium - blue metallic, my fave
car when I was a kid...very sleek and sporty...

Having said that, the last decade of manufacturing in Australia saw
arguably the best cars ever made in Australia, in fact, world class.
But it was too late and not enough people wanted that type of car.
I bought two examples early last year and both cars have more than
doubled in value within a year, they are highly coveted now by
enthusiasts.

than our compact cars, and more fuel efficient during the oil crisis,
not to mention they were cheaper. Detroit was still putting out 6 and 8
cylinders in every vehicle, which was appealing to less and less of the
population.
We got our stuff together at the last minute. You still hear older
USians ripping on "foreign cars"... truth be told, Chevys are made in
Mexico now, and Toyota is assembled in Tennessee state... go figure!

Chevy Sedan Delivery. Station wagon with no side windows and the front
passenger seat folded up too. Learned how to drive stick shift on it,
including down shifting (double clutch) to first gear that was non
synchronized.

(crossovers). I have an '89 Olds Cutlass Cruiser now. Being that it's
a "grandpa" vehicle, it's actually dirt-cheap to insure. Even at my
age, with a couple of dings on my record, I think it costs less than
$200/yr liability -- and that's a couple steps above the state minimum
limit plus uninsured motorist coverage.

pizza lunch. Here's your hat, what's your hurry?
That was my second last day. After the party I was sent home and told to
come in when I felt like it the next morning to do my biweekly
paperwork... time sheet, expense account etc, hand in my issued gear and
that I could go straight home when I finished. One of the things I
turned in was a laptop computer. It turned out that they didn't even
know I had it. Damn, I could have kept that laptop.
