Meanwhile we have not been out for our wedding anniversary (23 March), our son's birthday (7 April) or mine (11 April) a trip to the Canaries (la7st week of April) nor even to give a n Open University tutorial (16 May). On Monday I must take my car for its MOT.

Your car, van or motorcycle’s MOT expiry date will be extended by 6

I've seen this discussed somewhere (might have been UMRA): the various
parts of government not being in very good communication with each
other; you need an MOT to renew your car tax, but the tax part of the
government isn't in very good touch with the DVLA - or, the car tax
people send out reminders IIRR about a month ahead, whereas I think I've
heard that the DVLA only apply the six-month extension about a week
ahead.

Go online (the tax letter has notes on how), and proceed through the car
tax renewal process - take care, but I don't _think_ they take the money
unless you _can_ go ahead. (Or ring them up, but I'm not sure whether
it's a freephone number, and is probably busy.) It _might_ not let you
go ahead until the last week though.

If you think the car will pass anyway, and your local testing station is
open, arguably worth doing anyway - I imagine they'll be busier in the
following six months (and even if not, you might want to avoid it
falling in December anyway).

Indeed so. BOFE had a similar (incorrect) notification, and was

Yes but a taxi from Watford to Old St would be ratehr pricey. I get
one to Watford Junction Station if it is an early appointment. I got
the bus home from there last time and used my bus pass for the first
time :). I can't drive as they put drops in your eyes and I can't see
anything, never mind drive. I have to ask people which platform on
the way home.

Yes but a taxi from Watford to Old St would be ratehr pricey. I get

His next chance of freedom will be a dental appointment - or the next blood
test - both likely in the next two weeks as its a whole year on 10th July
(our wedding anniversary) since diagnosis. Don’t see us going anywhere else

My car was due its MOT and tax at the end of April. I went online and
renewed the tax without having the MOT test done, and there was no
problem; it went straight through.

I had an exciting couple of trips too. I wanted something
fromSainsburys and as there were only 3 people wiating to get in this
morning Iwent too. They have spray and kitchen roll at the entrance to
wipe the trolley.

Then I messed up sending new dresses to granddaughter and one arrived
here instead of at her place. And the other will be I realised today
it is coming grom nuggering China and she will probably have grown out
of it by the time it gets here, soI sent to the PO this afternoon. I
decided to wear my new mask. Nobody was there, I walked in, sent the
package and had a chocolate boost and wispa incident and came out. The
door is automatic so you don't touch it. I have a contactless cc and
the only things I touched were the chocolate packs. The mask made my
glasses steam up.

I went yesterday and again this morning. Queues were approx 30 minutes
yesterday and 1 hour today. No checks at all.

I also discovered how to dispose of Lithium ion batteries responsibly;
chuck them into a large bin of assorted batteries. Next time I'll just
use the battery-bin in a supermarket.

thrilling trip to the municipal dump. We alone wore masks. Meanwhile we
have not been out for our wedding anniversary (23 March), our son's
birthday (7 April) or mine (11 April) a trip to the Canaries (la7st
week of April) nor even to give a n Open University tutorial (16 May).
On Monday I must take my car for its MOT.

This evening we went to a shop for the first time.

How was it? I am nervous now when i go even though i think it is safe
really.

Just beware of the bears!

She will be perfectly safe, provided she does not tread on the cracks
in the pavement.
