I heard that Altopia once offered emails address along with Usenet, but
the idea of CC being able to see my emails doesn't really fly with me.

The waiting list thing sounds stupid to me. More customers - the better!

He got a job at Iphouse, IIRC. Not sure what happened
to freebie biggulp and readfreenews swervers, but the
paid Octanews he to left to die a painful death and
refused to answer any questions even on the iphouse
internal froups. I only bought a small block of him,

than anything else, so I didn't lose a great deal. I
was just rather annoyed that he didn't offer any

Paying 3 dollars can for a server that will take 6 years to flop is better
than paying 6 * 72 = 432 dollars over 6 years. The trick is to buy a
really cheap block. These days Usenet is a commodity so its really cheap.
During Black Friday you can get a good block for basically next to nothing.

You need an indexer for the good stuff because of DMCA/NTD. Uploaders can
no longer state the name of their files due to copyright, so they make the
names really funky and tell their indexers so people can download it but
copyrighters have no idea what the files are.
