Nic's confession - red herring?

I saw an interesting suggestion, on FB this morning, from Fat Bloke, who

Morning all! I don't usually do this, but I'm going to make a plot
prediction! We were given a pretty large hint that Njc was involved
with Matt's 'accident' last night. I think we're being diverted. I
think her death bed confession was that she witnessed it or knew who
it was. And who in the weeks before her death was she fussing over
about her drinking..Alice. So Alice hit Matt drunk driving and Nic
knew but kept silent. That's my theory. But then again me and Rob
were also convinced it was Tom did it. Anyway, here's todays link,

I think that sounds a good suggestion although if Nic had witnessed the
accident, I can't see her not raising the alarm at the time (even if she
had then claimed not to have recognised the car).

I think that sounds a good suggestion although if Nic had witnessed the
accident, I can't see her not raising the alarm at the time (even if she
had then claimed not to have recognised the car).

Matt's accident took place on the night of the Hunt Ball. I honestly
don't remember (or care) whether Alice and/or Chris attended the ball
- but as it's one of the social events of the year, I can't imagine
they wouldn't be there. However, if they went, we heard nothing of
them.

The people we did hear about that night were
Brian & Jennifer. Brian was "missing" for some portion of the
evening.

Justin & Lilian. Lilian was distracted by phone calls, some of which
she answered. Justin "went home with a headache", via The Bull.

Shula & Alistair. As one of the Joint Masters, Shula was allegedly
involved in organising the ball, but seems to have been remarkably
miserable. I honestly don't give a shit^W^W^W remember anything about
Alistair's evening other than he was supposed to be on call because he
couldn't say no to the locum having the night off.

Adam & Ian. As ever they were having a go at each other over
something and nothing and Ian was being a complete holier-than-thou
@rsehole. Adam got totally sick of it all and left the ball early to
go home.

So we have 3 definite named people who either left the ball early or
whose whereabouts were unknown and a fourth who seemed to be not
always visible. At least one of these had previously killed an
innocent pedestrian by inappropriate speed.

If some other unnamed attendee of the ball suddenly took it into their
drunken head to drive round the village at speed, this was not caught
by the mics and is proof that the whole thing has jumped the shark and
should be immediately awarded a "Soapie" [1]

But I can't imagine that Alice & Chris would have driven to the ball,
knowing how at least one of them enjoys an adult beverage.

So, if Nic's deathbed confession was that she witnessed the accident,
my money would be on Brian as the culprit. If he's going down for the
Low Mead incident, why not add a couple of years on for a hit & run.

Low Mead is the pollution scare on Home Farm, of which Brian is
culpable. ANd I'm assuming the innocent pedestrian had four legs and
belonged to Peggy?
