It's coming up on two years now, and they're still fucking us about. My neighbour (85) was forbidden to see his dying wife during the last 3 weeks of her life, despite them both being triple vaccinated. The morons in charge need to be jailed now.

A quick google search shows people are not allowed to dance at weddings, but they can in nightclubs. So not even consistantly stupid.

They didn't cure Spanish Flu. They did impose restrictions like wearing

less deadly form - the H1N1 seasonal flu we still see today. Omicron is

Hi David,

The guy provided no evidence in the form of medical
paper to back up his narrative. Zero cites.
It is baseless opinion.

If he thinks he is safe only around the jabbed,
HE IS A FOOL. And I can provide evidence to back
up that statement.

There is no difference in transmission in either
jabbed or unjabbed communities:

Increases in COVID-19 are unrelated to levels of vaccination across
68 countries and 2947 counties in the United States:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8481107/

And the viral load of the infected jabbed is the same as
the unjabbed:

Community transmission and viral load kinetics of the SARS-CoV-2
delta (B.1.617.2) variant in vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals in
the UK: a prospective, longitudinal, cohort study:

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(21)00648-4/fulltext

So if you have a co-morbidity, STAY AWAY FROM
EVERYONE, jab or no jab! And if you get symptoms,
GET HELP IMMEDIATELY!

Our paper today said that our hospitals in Delaware are clogged with
covid patients and 78% are unvaccinated.
Did they give a breakdown of percent of what was in
their beds? "Clogged" is not a number.
Wife needed out patient surgery in hospital yesterday and had to be
tested beforehand even though she is fully vaccinated.
Makes sense. You still catch covid with the jab. And the
viral load is the same as the unvaxed.
For me to go
with her I had to show vaccination proof. The hospital is also allowing
vaccinated visitors.
That is sill. The viral load is the same for vax and unvax.>
Last year when I was hospitalized for a few days getting a heart valve,
my wife could stay before surgery but had to leave afterwards and no
visitors allowed. That was pre-vaccine.
Delta is nasty! Do you know the vaccination rate of
your town?

The jab does supply about six weeks of greater protection
based on data from the British government, but drops
pretty fast after that.

Heart valve!!!!  Are you all patched back up?
Heart valve procedure I had is called a TAVR where they use a catheter
and put in a stent with a cow valve to replace the calcified aortic
valve.  I did have side effects, bleeding into groin and then atrial
flutter keeping me in the hospital for four days.  I went back to the
hospital to get shocked back to normal and flutter had gone away and
shocking was not necessary.  Now I am in much better shape.
With wife and I needing medical things done it was a year full of
doctors and hospital all going on while virus raged.  PITA even without
virus.
It seems that non-virus hospitalizations have been sped up to keep you
in the hospital for as short a time as possible.  Wife's surgery
yesterday was as an outpatient and even her knee replacement three
months ago was as an outpatient.
I did not even see my cardiologists before TAVR as all correspondence
beforehand was over the phone.
¡Ay, caramba!

Good to hear you are back to normal again. Many years Frank

I think the cow valve is good for 10-15 years. They can even add
another on top of it if needed.

Fifteen years ago I needed cardiac stents for angina. In work up for
TAVR they did CT with die to check cardiac arteries and they are still
clear which was nice to learn.

I know of a guy that needs a new valve but working him up they found
arteries blocked. Next week he is having open heart to both replace the
valve and bypass the arteries. That is a big deal.

I am reminded of being on a treadmill talking to a friend next to me
about the joys of aging. His comment was we are not just getting old,
we are old.

Wife has had the problems of late but doing fine. She commented that
she could tolerate more me having problems then her having problems.

Then, last night celebrating the New Year in the family room last night
she noted a couple of problems in the room that got me up early to
attend to. Those were my problems.

Fifteen years ago I needed cardiac stents for angina.  In work up for
TAVR they did CT with die to check cardiac arteries and they are
still clear which was nice to learn.
I know of a guy that needs a new valve but working him up they found
arteries blocked.  Next week he is having open heart to both replace
the valve and bypass the arteries.  That is a big deal.
It IS a big deal - I wish him well. ❤️
Good luck to you, too, Frank (and to your olther half as well!)
It's no fun getting old - but it is far better than the alternative!
Thanks.
I am reminded of being on a treadmill talking to a friend next to me
about the joys of aging.  His comment was we are not just getting old,
we are old.
Ha! I suppose we are!

Wife has had the problems of late but doing fine.  She commented that
she could tolerate more me having problems then her having problems.
Methinks that applies here too!

Then, last night celebrating the New Year in the family room last night
she noted a couple of problems in the room that got me up early to
attend to.  Those were my problems.
Got it! :-D

I understand a little of what you've talked about as, in March 2020,
right out of the blue, I watched my wife depart from home in an
ambulance with blue lights flashing and sirens wailing. It turned out
that this essential component had been 99% blocked:-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left_anterior_descending_artery

She fine now, although there has been a threat of open-heart surgery to
replace the valve you have been discussing.

I've discovered that there's a bit of an emotional roller-coaster
involved too, maybe caused by the number of drugs one has to take to
'stay safe'.

Somehow, Covid19 hasn't been of too much concern.

Good luck to you and your wife during this coming New Year!

It was my LAD that needed stents because of unstable angina. I figured
I was developing angina as chest was heavy walking on path up hill and
went away at the top of the hill. I did not have a heart attack but
heaviness came on in bed. People in ambulance thought I was fine but I
insisted on going to hospital where blood test showed potential problem.
This was about 16 years ago.

Calcified aortic artery was showing up on echo-cardiogram and got to
severe stage. Nice thing was when worked up for heart valve they found
coronary arteries OK. TAVR is safer than SAVR which guy mentioned is
having because of blocked arteries but think it is only a percent or two.

I had open heart over 20 years ago to remove a pulmonary embolism. That
was a serious concern with maybe 10% mortality rate and I knew others
that had the same surgery without curing problem and they died.

The family room problem I had to take care of this am was not a problem.

I was just fortunate in beating the percentages and the bad ones were
never over ten percent.  But, one doctor told me that eventually someone
gets hit with the low percentage.
Thread is about covid.  Many here say they will just take the chance as
percentage is low.  I would say best to do what you can to avoid in case
that low percent happens to hit you.
Now just to irritate those on the left here, I might say that when I got
the TAVR there was a 2 percent chance of a stroke.  I was quipping to
the hospital staff that I was glad to be leaving without a brain like
Joe Biden's.
Haha!

Perhaps you'd like to share this amongst your chums?

Right to the point!

You don't have to be old to have heart problems. I was only 48 when I had a
heart attack and cardiac arrest. I was *slightly* overweight but not really
obese. I've never smoked and I don't drink much alcohol (*). I'd felt a bit
tired and lethargic but I hadn't had any chest/arm pains. I'd been working
in the garden on a hot sultry day, and I came inside because I felt a bit
hot. I'm only alive because my wife (girlfriend at the time) was in the room
next door, heard a loud thump as I fell to the floor, and remembered how to
do CPR from a first-aid course she'd done in her teens. The ambulance crew
worked on me for about 2 hours once they arrived, injecting their whole
stock of adrenaline into me and having to call for more. It was actually a
fire engine which turned up: they carry adrenaline and happened to be
closest, which was useful because they could carry me down to the ambulance.
The ambulance crew had decided to break with protocol and take me to
hospital even though they hadn't got my heart beating unaided, and let
Casualty continue working on me.

Once my heart was firing on all four cylinders (chambers?!) I was
transferred to a larger hospital which had intensive care that could offer
facilities to lower my body temperature for a while, which helps with
recovery.

I survived (obviously!) though my wife and parents were initially told that
I had a low chance of surviving and an even lower chance of escaping being
brain-damaged from possible oxygen starvation to the brain. I was in
hospital for about 3 weeks, and had to learn again how to climb stairs. For
a couple of weeks after I came home, I needed a stick to help me walk more
than a few hundred yards. It was weird as I was coming round from the
induced coma that they'd kept me in, to hear about three big news stories:
the death of Amy Winehouse, the massacre of the schoolchildren in Norway,
and the demise of the News of the World newspaper.

Over 10 years later, I'm still here. I can still do heavy work in the garden
(eg pushing a motor mower which is supposed to be self-propelled but the
drive to the wheels has failed) and can still cycle: in fact my wife had to
buy an electrically-assisted bike to keep up with me.

It was interesting that the surgeon who fitted the stent in Casualty said
that there were smaller blockages in my other two cardiac arteries, and
these would need stents "later" (code for "if you survive"). When I went
along to an out-patients consultation a douple of months later and had an
angiogram, the doctor couldn't find any sign of blockages and even called
another doctor for a second opinion. I remember there was some confusion
because I'd never got the message not to take my medication for two days
before, so the beta-blocker worked too well and they couldn't stimulate my
heart to beat quickly to test how it coped (**). It was only because I'd
happened to phone to ask when my appointment would be and they said "haven't
you had the letter - we need you there this afternoon", and no-one said
"don't take your normal medication".

The only lasting effect is that my arms start to ache very quickly if I hold
them above my head eg when changing a lightbulb, and my perception of
distance isn't quite as good as it was. I can still drive, because I tend to
leave a *bigger* gap from the car ahead, so I'm erring on the side of
caution. It was a good feeling to get back in my car and go for a little
drive near home when I got the go-ahead letter from the DVLA after about 3
months of "don't-drive".

(*) In fact I drink more now than I used to, because it was actually
recommended that I drink a pint of beer or a glass of wine 5 days a week
followed by 2 days "rest", because moderate alcohol is apparently
beneficial. It's a hard medicine but I keep taking it ;-)

(**) Even now, the beta-blocker means my heart rate rarely goes above about
90 bpm even after heavy exercise, but I don't feel any ill effects like
dizzyness.

Lots of easy ways. Simplest is to drink nembutal. Almost as easy to breath
helium.

While you can no longer put a pipe from your car exhaust into the
car, you can still put a small engine like a generator into the car.

I can shoot myself.

You should make up your mind. You've been with the crazy Republicans all
along, who claimed Covid was just a cold or the flu. Now you're recommending
that anyone that has symptoms should seek help? What is the "help" going to
do if you have mild symptoms? AFAIK, they tell you to stay home, isolate to the
extent possible, take NSAIDs if needed for fever and only seek medical help if
it gets bad. The correct advice would be to go get tested if you have symptoms
and are going to be around others, where you can't isolate, so that you can prevent
infecting others. Wrong again.

Right, so those vaccines were great things when developed, tested and

We can see they're no good, the death rate isn't falling.
It has fallen dramatically in places which are highly vaccinated.

Interesting that the authors and you can't see what I see. Look at
figure 2. There is a clear downward trend there, the higher the vaccination
rate, the lower the level of new cases.
Why are you looking at cases instead of deaths?

Look at the graphs in your own above source. They show otherwise.
Figure 2 shows a clear downward trend in infections vs percentage
vaccinated. Figure 3, the last three bars with the highest vaccination
rates, 60%, 65%, 70%+, have the lowest infection rates. Are you as
blind as those fool authors?

The alleged restrictions on freedoms are what I would do anyhow to protect myself.
A pity there are so many stupid people with no self-discipline out there.

The restrictions have not been shown to help.
The restrictions have been too lax or have been ignored. People aren't as
smart as Libertarians would like to think.
I've been avoiding people since the start of the pandemic. I got the vaccine
as soon as it was available to my age group. My behavior seems to have kept
me from contracting COVID.
Cindy Hamilton
I have been doing the same but relaxed my dilligence a little and
went shopping - masked - at a major grocery warehouse for christmas
I'm booked for the third shot in 2 weeks but apparently picked up a
case of Omicron. Not confirmed due to testing issues - to get tested
you have to line up with all kinds of others including unvaccinated
with Delta - IF you can get a test.
So far basically like a bad cold but with headache. My wife is
coughing worse than I am and is generally just TIRED. Hopefully by the
new year we will be back on track - - -
I wish you all the best.
Not doubting you, but why do you say "picked a case of Omicron" and not
just "picked a case of Covid"? Why do you think it's any particular variant?
SWMBO works in the health care arena and goes to work everyday. Masks
are not always worn by co-workers or clients and cases have sprung up
at some of the places (group homes) that she has to visit. Therefore...
We get tested once a week. The process couldn't be simpler. We drive over to
our town's maintenance complex, stay in our vehicle and pull into one of the big
garages. A worker with laptop on a cart comes over, takes our ID's, looks us
up in the county database and logs us in. (S)he hands us a couple of swaps,
we twirl them around in our nostrils and hand them back. No paperwork, no
exposure to other test-getters. This is open to the public, i.e. we're not getting
any special treatment based on her job.
If we're positive, we'll supposedly get a call within the hour. If we're negative,
we get an email later that evening. We usually go as soon as they open at 5PM
and get our emails by 9.
No vaccines for me, no tests for me, no masks for me. I'm still here.

What the dictionaries I've consulted fail to acknowledge is that, apart
from the woad-painted ancient variety, only newspapers refer to an
inhabitant of Britain as a Briton. There isn't a word for it used in
normal conversation; "Britisher" appears to be a US invention and "Brit"
an IRA one (as in "Brits out").

+1 Statistics say otherwise. Yes, this variation is milder, etc, but

Meantime, you won't see me on a cruise, at a concert or ballgame.

I moved aside from the line I was in at the auto parts store when an
unmasked man walked up right behind me. When my turn came and I was at
the counter, he came up immediately beside me to look at something. I
then told him to move away, which he did do.
I would have coughed over you.
Anyone violating the mask rules is clearly a major threat, because they
don't care if they infect people or themselves. With Omicron, they are
all likely to be infected soon.
Stop being such a pathetic pansy.

The conservative nuts are now attacking the NYC police because they were
called to a restaurant where parents with a 5 year old where they did not
have vaccine cards, would not be allowed in. The nuts claim this was awful,
that the cops terrorized the kid, it's all their fault. Actually, the fault clearly
lies with the parents. They likely knew the NYC requirements and if not, the
restaurant told them that you can't come in unless you have proof of vaccination.
They refused to leave, they chose to turn this into a big scene, likely they
planned it ahead of time to have their 15 minutes of fame.
So the cops forced them to leave. What was the restaurant supposed to do?
Ignore the order and risk heavy fines? What were the police supposed to do?
Ignore the order and the request of the restaurant? If the cops let them stay,
30 minutes later the NYC health dept could show up and fine the restaurant.
Stupid laws should be ignored.

The restrictions have not been shown to help. This
is about control and power now. Maybe in the
beginning not. But now for sure. It is training
to get the individual to accept the state's
will.
Typical. The mandates, eg masks and vaccination aren't because those
imposing them believe the science that shows they work, that it will help
reduce infection, hospitalizations and death in a worldwide pandemic,
no, it's just because they want to force people to do things. This is
Qanon level stupid..
It's because they're stupid. They're the same type that think using your headlights during the day makes the roads safer.

My car is too old for DRLs.

I don't want to drive with the headlights on - they pop up, and wreck
the aerodynamics.

It's against the law to drive on sides or fogs.

Hopefully by the
new year we will be back on track - - -
Sorry to hear that, hope you recover quickly. I know five people here in
the states that got some form of Covid. One is a friend who is a doctor,
he his wife and adult son all got it. Mild symptoms and they are over it.
Other two are a friend's sister and her husband. They both wound up in
the hospital for a few days. Both are back home now, though still sick.
Most likely those first people had Omni, the others Delta, but who knows.
Thanks for admitting that 5/5 of the people you know that got it all recovered. So what are you all worried about you pathetic pansy?

And you're free to do so, but don't expect me to panic over something
that's killed less than 1 in 1000.
I'm not panicked. I don't want to be that 1 in 1000, especially since
it's
pretty easy to avoid infection.
There are a TON of other 1 in 1000 things that can
kill you. Why the unreasonable focus on this one?
Do you have an underlying co-morbidity we all don't
know about?
I do not think we are tending towards the lock down modes taken in other
countries where you cannot leave the house except to work or go to the
store or need to wear a mask even walking alone in the woods. Just
minor everyday cautions.
I was watching the morning news shows along with the fix it shows. Flipping Vegas
has pretty women if nothing else.
No less a health authority than our President said schools should stay open. It's better
for the kids than remote learning. Schools in Nebraska stayed open throughout the
Covid movement as far as I know.
Kids are pretty safe but teachers can become the problem. So far here,
they are open. University of Delaware requires vaccination and booster
for all students.
I'd keep my kids home if that was a requirement.

I do tend to agree in the main now.
I don’t. Our stupid state premier, the equivalent of a prime
minister for a state, has just let it rip and that has seen TEN
times the number of new positives every day.
We have probably done as much as we can to immunise all those we can
Don’t agree with that either. We are still seeing lots of
people getting immunised who hadn't bothered previously
when lots of positives turn up in their town. And that’s
in a state which has about 94% double jabbed.
and apart from boosters with the newer variants then my guess is that its
no worse than other viruses circulating in the population,
Only flu gets close to killing anything like as many.
it just looks bad but one notes those dying and seriously ill are all
those with compromised immune systems
Don’t you care about those getting killed ?
or those who did not get vaccinated.
You unfortunately cannot make a population 100 percent safe,
Yes, but you can certainly do a hell of a lot better than just letting it
rip.
and hindsight is a wonderful thing.
We aren't talking about hindsight.
I personally think given some of the cock ups other governments have made
over the years ours is probably a bit better than most.
Its actually one of the worst outcomes in europe.
I find Boris annoying but then what is he to do?
Not be stupid enough to have that stupid freedom day.
I find it even more annoying that the devolved nations are allowed to do
their own thing on Covid when looking at the same results. It sends mixed
messages to the population.
But its never going to be possible to come to a consensus
on what should be done given so little is known about how
covid pans out early on. The best we can do is see how the
different approaches work out. New Zeeland, Taiwan etc
got a vastly better result than the UK did.

It's coming up on two years now, and they're still fucking us about. My
neighbour (85) was forbidden to see his dying wife during the last 3
weeks of her life, despite them both being triple vaccinated. The morons
in charge need to be jailed now.
A quick google search shows people are not allowed to dance at weddings,
but they can in nightclubs. So not even consistantly stupid.
