What did you watch?
The Man in the High Castle (Prime) - Ep's #2.7 & 2.8.
I'm happy to report that, after a weak start, season #2 seems to be
getting stronger in the second half (kind of like "Hanna"!...).
Ep. #2.7 is perhaps the best of this lot - this episode dispensed
with Tagomi and Joe Blake entirely, and was much better for it,
focusing just on Juliana's "spy mission" on the Smiths, while Ed and
Childan bond and go deliver the money to tha Yakuza, Kido gets proof
that the Yakuza was funneling information to the Nazis (and "deals"
with it!), and Frank figures out what General Onoda is really up to.
Ep. #2.8 was mostly about Nazi (and Resistance) politics as word
seeps out that Hitler is in his last hours. Juliana feeds this info to
the Resistance, while Obergruppenführer Smith finally confronts Juliana
about the latest film, and tries to figure out who Hitler's successor
will be and what they're after, and doesn't like what he finds out
(basically, that Joe's daddy is the new Big Bad!!).
I should get to the season #2 finale tonight.

The 100 (recorded) - "Anaconda" (ep. #7.8, though it's #7.13 in the
production order).
This is the "backdoor pilot" for the "prequel" spinoff series, and I
am being completely serious when I say that the "Arrow" spinoff shows
*a lot* more promise than this proposed "The 100" spinoff. And it's not
just because I am biased - objectively, there just seems to be a lot
more upside to the "Arrow" spinoff than there is with this.
Anyway, none of this explained how the Second Dawn got to Bardo, or
why Octavia and co. never found the "Anomaly Stone" in the bunker when
they were in there for 5-6 years.

Obsession: Escaping My Ex (Lifetime) - I think I actually enjoyed this
Part 2 more than Part 1 - Part 1 was pretty par for the course, but
this one had the psycho conman/killer chaining up Madison (Celeste
Desjardins) for most of the flick, so that was somewhat more novel.
Also, I somewhat enjoyed the stupid rich sister trying to get her hands
on "$1 million dollars"! to pay the ransom for stupid Madison. (They
never really did explain the psycho conman's plans - I guess he
intended to pocket the ransom, and still take off with a captive
Madison in tow...)
Anyway, this ended exactly like you expected it would (though I was
mildly surprised that the sister survived this ordeal).
Tonight: In Part 3, the psycho conman/killer's sister gets into the
act, to punish Madison for righteously killing her psycho brother!!

Last Kind Words (Tubi) - I only watched this because it co-starred
Alexia Fast (as, basically, the "ghost"). It was only sort of OK (at
least Brad Dourif also co-starred...). But the ending made absolutely
no sense to me.

"Who would ever do this to him!?" - HottCiara on DOOL (04-27-2020), asking
who would stab Victor Kirakis... How about ANYONE WHO'S EVER MET HIM??!!

I watched:

Trolls World Tour (Netflix rental) - After being very pleasantly
surprised by how much I liked the first "Trolls" I was looking forward
to this a little bit. I really wanted to watch the first "Trolls" movie
again for a recap, but I couldn't find it anywhere for free. Anyway,
this movie picks up with whatever happened in the first movie having
happened (not that I remember), and a new threat emerges when the
princess of the Rock music trolls decides she is going to conquer all of
the other kingdoms and force all trolls to rock out to her rock kind
music. What follows is basically a jukebox musical full of nostalgia
songs from various music genres. It held my interest well enough and
generally kept a smile on my face.

Stargate SG-1 (season 3 DVD) - "100 Hundred Days" – After being stranded
on an alien planet with an alien woman who wants his baby, O'Neill finds
his inner light. The title is actually a bit of a lie. O'Neill is
actually only stuck on the planet for a few days.

Stargate SG-1 (season 7 DVD) - "Death Knell" – The alliance between
Earth, the Jaffa and the Tokra falls apart. Felt like a filler episode,
but also the type of background details I need to be aware of in later
episodes.

Heroes: Part 1 & 2 – Saul Rubineck guest stars as a journalist brought
in to film the Stargate program for when it’s declassified. Robert
Picardo shows up. I knew he was on Atlantis, forgot he was on SG-1
first. They killed off a reoccurring character. I did *not* see that
coming! What happened to the adopted alien kid? I skipped whatever
episode introduced the kid. And hey, it's Adam Baldwin. I didn't
realize he was on Stargate. And the way they set up his character, it
would have made perfect sense for him to move over to Atlantis.

"Resurrection" - This episode was written by Michael Shanks and directed
by Amanda Tapping. I hate to say it, but this was a really bad episode.
Basically the team capture the child of a Nazi (so you know, he's
evil) who acts like Hannibal Lecter, hamming it up as he dribbles out
bits of information on his evil experiment. The experiment in question
is a young woman who he cloned how has the knowledge of the Goa'uld.

"Inauguration" - A new President is sworn in, so there needs to be yet
another clip show to catch him up on everything. It's becoming pretty
clear the reason Stargate does so many clip shows is they need the cast
and the budget for the massive season finales.

"Lost City: Part 1 and 2" - Massive season finale which finds Dr.
Elizabeth Weir now running the SGC and SG-1 trying to find the lost city
of the ancients in hope it will help defend Earth from Anubis' invasion.
I really like the actor they got to play the president, and in
particular, I've always liked his line when Anubis sends his hologram to
the White House to intimidate him, "Don't let the suit fool you. We're
going to fight."

Season 8 (now with subtitles on the DVD!)

"New Order: Parts 1 and 2" - Season 8 kicks off with Dr. Weir still in
command of the SGC, except now she looks a little bit different.
O'Neill is still in hibernation following the events of the finale, but
the Asguard show up to save him and ask for his help again to save the
galaxy from human form replicators. Meanwhile back at the SGC Dr. Weir
negotiates with remaining system lords who have come crawling to Earth
begging for help. I loved the bit when she agreed to help in exchange
for territory.

"Lockdown" - This is where I should have switched over to Atlantis, but
I squeezed out one more SG-1 instead. O'Neill is now in command of the
SGC. I was fully expecting to see John Crichton heading over from
Farscape, but not yet. Instead SG-1 is now a 3 person team. First up,
Anubis' spirit or whatever is hanging around the SGC possessing people.
I really didn't care much for this one. Nice ending though. I am
assuming Anubis will be back. And I notice they wrote Ba'al as the new
big bad.

Yes - it looks like it will be about the "founding" of the Grounders,
the "Night Blood" ones anyway.

Yeah, that kind of bummed me out too. I still haven't seen the first

roughly that the Troll village comes across the survivalist Troll named
Branch and coaxes him out of his shell enough to join the village.

Have you tried the Netflix series _Trolls: The Beat Goes On_? Some kids
I was looking after introduced me to it, and I was thoroughly charmed

didn't find season one (or the Bergens) to be as good as the later
episodes that I had watched with the kids, but I'm up to season two now,
and have liked what I've seen in it so far a great deal. Since each
22-minute "episode" is really two 11-minute stories, it's easy to use it
to fill in short time gaps where you want to watch something, but you
don't want to start something longer.

I don't think I was aware there was a series. I've got so much on plate

season two now, and have liked what I've seen in it so far a great
deal. Since each 22-minute "episode" is really two 11-minute
stories, it's easy to use it to fill in short time gaps where you
want to watch something, but you don't want to start something
longer.
I don't think I was aware there was a series. I've got so much on
plate at the moment, it's doubtful I'll even sample it. I've still
got a huge backlog of shows I want to get to.
You never have a 12-minute chunk of time between other things that you'd
like to fill, but everything else in your queue is too long? The next
time you have 12 minutes to fill/kill, try the first half of the first
ep. of the second season, "Prank Day." Skip the first season, and any
episodes with the Bergens (a tribe of beings who are basically the
anti-Trolls, uncouth and uncivilized, whom the Trolls seem to try to
rehabilitate). If you don't like "Prank Day," it's safe to say you
won't like the rest of the series.

Have you tried the Netflix series _Trolls: The Beat Goes On_? Some
kids I was looking after introduced me to it, and I was thoroughly
charmed and amused by it. When I got into a living situation that
had Netflix included with the cable bill, I started over from the
beginning. I didn't find season one (or the Bergens) to be as good

Interesting you put it that way. It highlights the issues I have with
Netflix and why Netflix is often an afterthought. I had several
episodes of "Robot Chicken" sitting on my DVR. They are only about 12
minutes each. I used them much as you describe, to kill time in between
other things. But that was *easy* because they were on my DVR and all
it took were a few clicks of a button to get to them and watch. With
Netflix there is much more of a lag as I had to log in first. I know
it's not a huge lag, but it is an extra hurdle I don't have to deal with
when I watch stuff off my DVR. DisneyPlus, Hulu, CBS All Access are
worse because in addition to needing to log in first, I have to start up
a separate device. My DVR is by far the path of lease resistance.

But I'll keep it in mind. If add the series from my computer, the next
time I log onto Netflix, they should hopefully pop right up. Assuming
Netflix doesn't decide to hide my hand picked viewing options and
display what it wants me to watch instead. That's the other battle I
often have with Netflix and the other streaming services.

Pluto TV offers some promise as a "just put something on as 'background
noise' to kill time" streaming platform, but my issue with them is that
they don't seem to have enough of a selection of movies for that yet,
and I never feel like putting on reruns of old TV shows that way
(though, with Pluto, they do have STs and the CSIs for that...).

When I log into Netflix, it shows me what it wants to show me. But if I

to be able to find again. There's no similar "My List" option when you
log in from -- I dunno. If you're using a DVR, does that mean you don't
have a separate cable box?

DVR is built into my cable box. I have a 4K TV which I use to watch
Netflix. But even though I can watch Netflix using my cable box, I
prefer to stream directly through my TV. For tech reasons I get better
picture and sound quality. But I have to use the TV remote. Same goes
for Amazon Prime. I stream that through the TV using the TV remote. I
don't use the TV remote for anything else. The navigation isn't that
great when I'm watching Netflix or Amazon with the TV remote.

For cable/DVR and controlling my sound system, I can use my cable
remote. It is by far the smoothest easiest control / navigation system.
The other remotes I need for the other options are nothing but trouble
and the navigation is clunky at best.

For Disney+ CBA All Access or Hulu, I have to use my xBox. That once
again requires a separate remote. And a horrible navigation experience.
Plus waiting for the Xbox to boot up, then log in and select a service.

I guess with a lot of the streaming services, they are designed from the
ground up for people using a laptop / computer. And even I will often
pre-navigate using the computer to add something to the watch list. But
I watch the shows on my TV. And it is a *much* better viewing
experience on the DVR. Even something as simple as pausing the movie,
or rewinding a scene back is much better/easier with the DVR / cable
remote. On the cable remote there's a button that goes back 15 seconds.
It's great if I missed a line or looked away for a second. On
anything else pausing takes a lot of fumbling around and by the time I
get it to pause I've already missed whatever I wanted to see, and going
back a few seconds can be even worse. Some of them don't even have a
rewind option. It's just a bunch of boxes that pop up and I have to
scroll through until I guess I've gone back far enough then hit play
again and *hope* it resumes where I wanted. I get that on a computer
using a mouse these aren't issues. But on the TV using a remote, it's a
nightmare!

This just occurred to me. My cable remote was designed from the ground
up to be used by someone watching cable on their TV. It works
beautifully for that purpose. There is no Netflix remote or Amazon
remote or Disney+, Hulu remote, etc. For those services you have to
take an exiting remote and hope the buttons match. That's not entirely
true with Netflix. At least the TV remote had Netflix in mind since the
service is built into the TV, but the navigation relies on a cursor on
the TV screen and it's just not a pleasant experience. I know it's not
Netflix's fault the TV people didn't design a good remote. But I'm
still the one stuck with using it.

I do what she does, but I use the tv as the monitor for the laptop
(whose built-in monitor has failed) and audio is heard through the
stereo.

Apps on the tv truly suck, and it relies on the current state of the
deal between the manufacturer and the streaming service. I rather resent
that all the apps were placed on the tv because of such deals and not
because I consented. These deals also make apps disappear or get added
without my consent. I'm not playing.

I rarely stream, though. I just lose the signal too often, and I haven't
installed a proper app to download the stream, which is the way I should
be watching.

I use the stereo's remote. The stereo is rather complicated but I use
just a handful of its functions.

(recorded) - "Anaconda" (ep. #7.8, though it's #7.13 in the
production order).
This is the "backdoor pilot" for the "prequel" spinoff series, and I
am being completely serious when I say that the "Arrow" spinoff shows
*a lot* more promise than this proposed "The 100" spinoff.
But the Awful Arrow spin-off pilot's promise was negative.

And it's not
just because I am biased - objectively, there just seems to be a lot
more upside to the "Arrow" spinoff than there is with this.
More than nothing can still be nothing.

Anyway, none of this explained how the Second Dawn got to Bardo, or
why Octavia and co. never found the "Anomaly Stone" in the bunker when
they were in there for 5-6 years.

What did you watch?
I Was a Teenage Pregnant Amish Harlot aka Rumspringa Gone Wild

One of those Lifetime movies Ian so likes.

One of the lesser Michalka sisters plays Pennsylvania Dutch with a sour snarl
on her face who goes with her friends to Hollywood to sow her wild oats
before marrying into her abusive idiotic religion and abandoning all hope.

She travels with 2 other girls and 1 guy (how could anything possibly go
wrong?) including Amish whore Alyson Stoner who wants Michalka's guy back
home and my incredibly awesome Twitter buddy Aurelia Scheppers who bizarrely
plays the only one who does NOT succumb to California's wicked wicked ways.
https://preview.tinyurl.com/ybfppdvo

Michalka falls for the first guy she sees, a Giovanni Ribisi wanna be. She
has sex once and one month later is barfing off the porch. Her boyfriend back
home will marry her but she'd rather ruin Ribisi's life, so he quits whatever
and gets the cheapest apartment in L.A. and she works in a coffee shop and
they raise the kid in abject squalor despite his parents being rich.

All accompanied by a morbid turgid constant piano score, which works for
Jesse Stone, but not here.

The End

I watched 'cause it was the great Ron Ely's last film.
