Comment #25 on issue 160368 by ***@gmail.com: Youtube fullscreen
not working.
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=160368

Fullscreen *playback* seems to work correctly again for me since a couple
of bundled-flash updates ago. As in: I can see the video, and not just a
quarter-screen little window of random pixels.

However, I have other issues with Flash on YouTube on Linux, both in and
out of fullscreen. The Flash Player UI and video are not scaling properly
in fullscreen mode (upscaled/pixelated); HD video playback performance is
poor once again (from being poor, then okay, now poor again); and the
YouTube player doesn't switch automatically to HD quality when using the
large player even though I've specifically told YouTube to do so in my
YouTube playback settings, which doesn't seem like it has to do with the
latest change in YouTube interface, since I had this problem from before
that. Also I think the last problem is a problem on all platforms as far as
I've seen. :-\

But I probably digress -- those should probably be separate bugs (and
perhaps are already filed), in which case I apologize for the spam.

Also having the same issue. Not just with YouTube, but other embedded
videos, such as on Revision 3's website. Have had this issue before and
it's annoying the crap out of me! Get with it, Chrome, I'm about to jump
ship and go back to a different browser. Using Win8, Chrome Version
24.0.1312.52 m, stupid Java and stuff all up to date. GRRRR! Very
frustrated. A friggin' browser should just work, especially one from such
a large company as Google.

I have the same problem. And I noticed that when it is in full screen mode,
the "real" function buttons hide in the black background (on the bottom of
the screen as usual) while the visible buttons on display as shown in the
screenshots above are fake. If you move the mouse over these shown ones,
the pressbutton move just pauses the playing.

Same issue as above (Chrome 26.0.1410.64 m, Flash 11.7.700.179), though
only on externally embedded YouTube players (full screen works fine on
YouTube). Disabling pepflashplayer.dll from chrome://plugins/ and falling
back to the system's Flash install fixed the problem.

on a forum and it has work.

Hey folks,

If you are still getting this issue when you switch the YouTube video to
fullscreen, (a) have Flash installed separately on your computer, and (b)
Flash is updated to the latest version (currently 11.5.502.110), please try
the following and let us know what happens:
Go to the chrome://plugins page. Click on the "+" sign at the top right of
the page, to expand to see all Details.
Search for "Adobe Flash Player", and you will see all the plugins that you
have for Flash. You will see 2 Flash plugins on your computer:
...PepperFlash\pepflashplayer.dll (which is bundled with Chrome)
...Flash\NPSWF32_11_5_502_110.dll (which was installed separately on your
computer by you or an administrator)
Click the "Disable" link for PepperFlash
Relaunch Chrome (Chrome menu > Exit > restart Chrome)
Visit the YouTube video again, and switch it to full screen.
Let us know what happens.
To find out (a) above, go to your chrome://flash page. Do you see the Flash
plugin for: ...NPSWF32_11_5_502_110.dll ?
For (b), if the number "11_5_502_110" is different for you (11_4... or
another lower number), it means that you do not have the latest Flash
player. Please visit Adobe's Flash Player site here to get the latest
update. This step will have to be performed in another browser, since the
Adobe webpage will instead detect PepperFlash which is bundled with Chrome.

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=160368

I have this problem with a little difference: Video doesn't freeze after
going to full screen mode. Both video and audio continue to play, it's just
that it is not stretched to full screen but plays in normal size in the top
right corner of the screen. Funny thing is that control buttons (pause,
mute, change quality, exit full-screen) are displayed under the video
(approx in first 1/3 of my screen), but they respond to mouse clicks only
on the bottom of the screen (as if it was in the real full-screen mode)

My system:
WinXP Pro SP3
Chrome - Version 26.0.1410.64 m
Adobe Flash Player (2 files) - Version: 11.7.700.179
Shockwave Flash 11.7 r700

Disabling pepflashplayer.dll solved the problem.

Holy cripes man... how difficult can it be to fix this stupid problem?
Google, you're looking a LOT like Microsux right about now with this
obvious disinterest in your product's most annoying bugs.

Why has it been over a year and still no solution or even word of progress
or ETA on a fix?? There's absolutely no excuse for this. Typical corporate
B.S. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!

I WILL NO LONGER USE CHROME BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE AND OTHERS UNTIL YOU TAKE
SOME FRIGGIN' INTEREST IN YOUR FAULTY PRODUCT AND FIX THESE MAJOR ISSUES.

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=160368

I have the same issue on Win7 64bit

Some youtube videos will work in fullscreen, others won't. It seems to have
no correlation with whether it has an HD option or not. The video still
plays visual and audio, but is no larger than the normal window, and is
stuck to the top left hand corner of the monitor. The play, volume, etc
buttons displayed do not work, but they're hidden down the very bottom of
the screen, where they usually are, but they are not visible. Disabling
peppersflash stops the videos from working altogether. I've only had this
issue as of the last half hour or so

I just manually downloaded the latest version of Flash from the Adobe

it all works fine.

(+CC graphics experts and Adobe people)

I couldn't repro the problem on my dev machine:
- Win7 + Chrome 27.0.1453.116 + Pepper Flash 11.7.700.225
- Win7 + Chrome 29.0.1548.1 + Pepper Flash 11.7.700.225

It would be great if those who are affected by this bug could attach their
about:gpu information. (Type about:gpu in the Chrome address bar; save the
page into a file; upload it)

Thanks for the information, Anthony!

I am not sure, but this CL seems likely:
http://src.chromium.org/viewvc/chrome?view=rev&revision=181836
(Maybe John could tell?)

Could you please produce a build at r181836, and a build prior to r181836
and compare the behavior on that machine?

No, that wasn't fully hooked up, so it shouldn't really affect anything.
Also, the about:gpu we got has Stage3D baseline mode enabled, so it
definitely shouldn't affect anything.

is bigger although still not full-screen (?).

Fullscreen mode is good now and FULL screen, "Large Player" mode is with
lovely black box in upper right corner when playing "Playlist"s of videos

oops, Disregard my previous update. The peplashplayer.dll still has the
same issue when going fullscreen. I got confused because I did enable it
and closed the browser. Then I opened Chrome by mistake to test for
changes... Chrome was still running with pepflashplayer.dll disabled. My

THIS ISSUE HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH "PEPPER", AS I HAVE NOTHING
CALLED "PEPPER" INSTALLED.

THIS ISSUE IS ABOUT A WEB BROWSER MADE BY A COMPANY WITH A COMPLETE
DISINTEREST IN IT'S USERS AND PROBLEMS WITH IT'S PRODUCTS: GOOGLE, INC.

I just checked in today to see if I could start using Chrome again, only to
find that the same problem is happening with youtube full screen videos
that's been happening for over a YEAR. It was over 1 year ago when this
issue was first reported BY COUNTLESS ANNOYED AND FRUSTRATED CHROME USERS,
and here we sit... absolutely no closer to a resolution. What a joke.

GET OFF YOUR LAZY, NO GOOD BUTTS, GOOGLE, AND TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS!

Back to Firefox for the foreseeable future...

Didn't do diddly for me. NOTHING I've tried has fixed the issue and I've
tried all the forum suggestions, aside from taking my computer apart, I've
done the Adobe forum suggestions, other than gleaning information...nada.
There is not one "fix" yet, it's going to have to come from Google and
maybe Adobe working together to fix the "out of process" incompatibilities
as well as Google figuring out what their issue is with, namely, YouTube
videos causing CPU heating up so high and causing thrashing. Because, the
consensus on the forum is, nothing is working longer than a day or so, if
at all, and people are dropping off Google like the fall leaves...and not
in any way put close to that nicely.

Finally tracked down a machine that can reproduce this failure - thanks for
your patience everyone (and thanks for the machine, Prudhvi)

Running on Win XP Pro SP3, and testing with the flash video:
(Also tested with the videos
mentioned in #111)

The bug shows up (looks the same as the image from #111) on:
Google Chrome: 27.0.1453.81 (Official Build 198567) m
Flash: 11.7.700.202 [In this case, I was able to work around the bug by
disabling PPAPI in chrome://plugins, then installing the standalone (NPAPI)
version of adobe flash.]

The bug does not show up on:
Google Chrome: 32.0.1673.3 (Official Build 229054) canary Aura
Flash: 11.9.900.117 [No fix needed! Except we have to wait for m32...]

finally! this chrome extension worked for me. it adds an html5 icon under
the youtube playbar, you click on it to switch the video to html5 which can
resize just fine. strangely enough, some youtube videos i could not
maximize and some i can, consistently. whenever i come across one that i
can't maximize, i just click the html5 icon.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/html5-video-for-youtube/dolajcekhnohkpncmhgledbmndjpblei

other stuff i tried that didnt work for me:
the html5 youtube trial http://www.youtube.com/html5
toggling the flash extensions in chrome plugins
clean chrome/flash installs and updates to no avail
toggling adobe flash hardware acceleration

For those having this issue, I found that it is due to having the extension
FVD Video Downloader 5.5.8 enabled. If you disable this extension and
restart chrome the videos will go full screen.

Please note that this video is not explicitly a Flash issue as I have
identical issues with HTML5 rendered videos when the extension listed above
is enabled.

I think this is fixed in latest stable (32.0.1700.76) with Pepper Flash
12.0.0.41. I couldn't reproduce it anymore with the same exact system, in
any of the videos that I could before (I'm taking into account that some of
them got converted to HTML5 in the meantime).

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=160368

Chrome Version 33.0.1750.117 m
Adobe Flash Player - Version: 12.0.0.70
Windows 7 Ultime SP1, 64 bits
i5-3570, 16 GB RAM

The bug still exists. I've been working without problems for 6 months, but
yesterday I started to suffer this bug. The trick of disabling flash works
but it appears an "loading" icon in the middle of the video until the video
is fully loaded which is a f* nightmare speaking of long videos.

This thread started in Nov 9, 2012...I think its time enough to realize
that they don't give a F* about us.

I agree. This problem has reared its ugly head once more and it annoys me.
Details:
It doesn't happen all of the time, but I'd say it happens on 1/3 of all
videos, especially ones of higher quality. The video plays, but only on the
top left corner of the screen and the sound still works, but it's very
frustrating.

Having this issue as well, chrome version 33.0.1750.117m and Windows 7 64
bit.

Dual monitors, fullscreen always work on at least one of them and seems to
show up randomly.

Comment #155 on issue 160368 by ***@gmail.com: Youtube fullscreen

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=160368

I've been experiencing this issue (or similar one) as well. YouTube videos
were not displaying correctly when trying to view them in 'Full Screen'.

Chrome ver 33.0.1750.117 m
latest Flash Player ver 12.0.0.70
Win 7 32-bit

I found that when I checked the Flash Player version I had installed there
was no pepflashplayer.dll as someone suggested as a fix (comment #6).

So I reinstalled Flash Player ver 12.0.0.70 and refreshed the browser
whereupon pepflashplayer.dll showed up finally and I disabled it. Now
YouTube videos do appear to show correctly in full screen mode as intended.

Crossing my fingers that this was the solution to my problem.

A couple of day ago this problem started for me too! :-( Like 50% of
youtube videos do not run in fullscreen anymore.

Disabling Pepper Flash and using the external installed plugin instead
fixes it, but I would rather use the integrated version, because it
integrates with other extensions (eg. AdBlock Plus), while the external
doesn't.

Chrome: 33.0.1750.146 m
Pepper Flash: 12.0.0.70

I could *not* repro on Win7 64 with Quadro FX380 9.18.13.3165 (blacklisted)
with Chrome 32 + Flash 12.0.0.44 and also not Chrome 33 + Flash 12.0.0.77
using previously mentioned videos

Here's another hint for you guys, where people have said that embedded
videos work fine and it only happens at the youtube site. I seem to have
the exact opposite problem, embedded videos on sites seem to be largely
broken and when I open them on the youtube site they work most of the time
but not always. I think this is related to that HD availability somebody
was talking about earlier. Tonight I'll turn PepperFlash back on again and
see if I can find anything else that is consistent that causes the issue.
Maybe uninstall the video drivers or try other versions to see how that
affects it too.

Yesterday there was a Chrome upgrade, I ended up installing that and
re-enabled PepperFlash and everything has been working fine since, I can't
seem to break it again. I went through every video in this whole thread and
they all worked fine. Also messed with the html5 player as someone had
linked to. Unless someone has any further ideas I could try to reproduce it
I think this problem has slipped away again at least for me.

Comment #171 on issue 160368 by ***@gmail.com: Youtube fullscreen
not working.
https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=160368

Hi so I'm having issues with going full screen on YouTube videos. Instead
of working properly when i enter and exit full screen multiple times the
video will slowly start to pan upwards. It will continue to play normally
with audio and everything working fine. It wouldn't be that big of a
problem except now instead of slowly panning upwards it immediately slides
up half way leaving the top half of the video unviewable... I checked what
version of Chrome I'm using and its Version 39.0.2171.95 (most recent as of
now). I've also tried going to chrome://plugins/ only to find one instance
of adobe flash running (PepperFlash) and disabled it for the hell of it.
Still nothing.... Any help or a hotfix or update for Chrome to fix this
issue would be great. Thanks.
