A noose in every garage, right, ESPN?

Oh, wait... that was just a hoax.

I guess they have to do something to shut down a popular sport that doesn'
kneel before the BLM agenda like the NFL does.

And there's too much gas-guzzling involved to be compatible with the Green Ne
Deal. Electric car racing would be as exciting as those little Hot Wheel
tracks we had as kids. If racism doesn't work, they'll find another angle t
take down NASCAR.

ESPN Undefeated columnist Bill Rhoden said that NASCAR racing is "one of th
most institutionalized racist sports organizations" during his comments abou
Bubba Wallace winning the YellaWood 500 at the Talladega Superspeedway las
week.

On Monday, Rhoden appeared on "MSNBC Reports" with anchor Craig Melvin t
discuss Wallace’s win and how it is former NBA superstar Michael Jordan'
first win as team owner.

"It's very rare," Michael said about the win, noting Wallace is the firs
black man to win since Wendell Scott. "But it also inspires me that you'r
making a difference in a sport that no one really thought could even happen.
feel gratitude, but I feel energized too. Let's keep this thing rolling. Let'
have other Bubba Wallaces winning."

Melvin noted Jordan's comments about when joining NASCAR, he was "diving int
the teeth of racism".

"When I dove to get involved in NASCAR, I knew that I was diving into th
teeth of racism. Knew it. Been there. Experienced it. But I wasn't afraid o
it," Jordan said. Rhoden agreed with Jordan's sentiment, going as far as t
label NASCAR as "one of the most institutionalized racist sports organization
in America".

Most blacks live in cities, NASCAR racers mostly come from rural areas. Most blacks have little money, racing cars costs more than a basketball.

Maybe the government should pay for "NASCAR training" for underprivileged inner city people?

I don't know about "institutionalized", but the popular image of NASCAR

Fair enough but if you start from the premise of "redneck = racist"
you quickly produce a self-fulfilling prophecy.

No doubt there are plenty of rednecks who are but if you push that
meme too far (or even all that far at all) you'll quickly find you've
reinforced those who would preach those views.

No question auto-racing does tend to be anti-authoritarian - it
started with the rum runners after all - but there are plenty of
sports that had origins vastly different than today.

Chess players don't think of themselves as warriors though that is how
the ancient game started. I'm pretty sure most martial arts types
don't think in terms of slaying their opponent which again is what
most of them were for in medieval times.

It seems to YOU that it "seems to equate to racism". *I* don't know if
it should or not, and was merely trying to introspect whether NASCAR
might, in fact, be racist, which was something I'd never considered --
whereupon its redneck roots occurred to me as a possible association.
Btw, if you're sure 'redneck' carries no such stigma, tell these folks:

I care less about 'tarring an entire group' then I do about creating
self fulfilling prophecies where folks who aren't that way are pushed
that way.

I'm talking about the sort of people who equate a NASCAR cap to a MAGA
