John, who is very familiar with Craigslist, violated Craigslist (CL)
Terms of USE (TOU) when he reposted her ad here (or anywhere). The TOU
states, in short: "You agree not to display, "frame," make derivative
works, distribute, license, or sell, content from CL, excluding
postings you create." He distributed her post without permission.
It's not as if he was doing so trying to help a friend try to find a
place to live. No excuse for it.
What I did was email her and tell her I had seen her CL posting on a
completely unrelated [to her finding lodging] cooking group. I
strongly suggested she Google the name of *anyone* who answers her ad
just to be on the safe side so she will know who she is dealing with.
If that makes me an asshole, so be it.
