My selections continue my practice of posting personal favorites as I had said I would, but I had to eliminate Watermelon Man by Mongo Santamaria because, even though I had checked and thought it was eligible, I saw it listed later when I was checking another possible entry.

I was able to listen to it all the way through, which means it's above
"a one or a zero," but I wouldn't say I *liked* it. I could see
enjoying it under certain circumstances, like at a beach party after a
few drinks, it might be good to dance to. It's really just too alien
for me, like Indian raga music for example. Can't relate to it.

here but he's wrong that this is THE "Buster Brown". Actually this guy
is Daniel Brown (no relation) from the West Coast who cut a couple of
records for Vest (another Robinson label run by his brother). Backing
group is similar to those on Buster's records tho both include Wild
Jimmy Spruill. And its a pretty good number too!!

The Reed was recorded and released in 1959, and was in the 1959 battle. The Elmore James finished 7th in the unreleased battle. "You're The Boss" was in the 1960 battle. I think the Otis Rush is good.
