Labour has appointed a career unionist to the Air New Zealand board. Wonder why Rich ain't moaning about cronyism. Or is it okay in his book because it's Labour doing it :)

The board should be representing the interests of the shareholders. End of story.

Labour are unfit to run a cake stall, let alone a government.

During these very difficult times for all airlines, having a Director
with experience of workplace relations is probably a good thing. I am
not aware of any direct relationship between Goulter and the
government.

Try reading the cite Rich for once in your useless life! If you had you'd have seen this in the second paragraph!
""Goulter is the national secretary of New Zealand’s largest education union, NZEI Te Riu Roa, and a director of The Co-operative Bank. He has 40 years of experience with unions in Australasia, including as secretary of the New Zealand Council for Trade Unions and general secretary of financial sector union Finsec."
He has Labour union stooge written all over him!

He is also the Director of a Bank - do you want to exclude company
directors, lawyers, accountants, Managing Directors, Teachers,
Farmers, Doctors, Political advisers, Public servants, University
Lecturers, Bus Drivers, Shop Owners, Local government Councillors, etc
from serving on the Board of an SOE? What work is acceptable to you as
not disqualifying someone from being the Director of an SOE for
possibly having some political opinions and links to Labour or
National or ACT or the Maori Party?

He is one of a number of people on the Board. Guess what? The prevoius
CHief Executive of Air New Zealand turned out to support National -
should he have been sacked in for being a 'political stooge'?

The Chief Executive is appointed by the board, not the government or shareholders, you idiot.

Absolute nonsense. So you would like a non-executive board member to run or
organise industrial relations in a large company? What an idiotic idea on more
than one level.
That shows how little you understand management, governance and business.

Oh yes you have,
Rubbish - but I do note that you do not try to quote where anything I
said may have been so mis-interpreted. You are like the sad old men
who claimed that women have no place in the board-room as they have no
knowledge of business. An airline has a number of areas that are
citical to success - technology; the planes and systems that run them,
finance, and how money is generated and what are critical indicators;
and people - those that work in the business and those that are
customers. Having people on the board with some insight into employee
needs and what will keep people motivated in an industry where Covid
is causing plans to have to change rapidly may be more important in
these times than normally. That does not mean they run part of the
company, it means the Board understands what may be critical issues,
what are important questions to ask, and how to spot when small
problems may be hiding a larger looming problem.

What a load of utter garbage Rich! The union stooge the government put on the Air New Zealand board doesn't meet any of the criterion just listed by you. In fact your list only confirms how right Tony's comment is!

Garbage Keith! Your links have nothing to do with the topic under discussion. We're discussing Labours union cronyism. Not a european country at the heart of a failing experiment!
