And the plot grows even more ludicrous...

Terran Lorca got to our universe via a transporter accident, and yet no
one realized before it was too late and the real Lorca's crew died. Gay
doc shows up again for comfort, and gay engineer along with autistic
cadet figure out how to cure the mycelial web and get back home by
killing two birds with one stone, three birds, since firing photon
torpedoes at the mushroom reactor core of the Emperor's palace is what
needs to be done. Emperor Georgiou kills Lorca by stabbing him in the
back and then Michael grabs her a second before everything blows as
she's being transported onto the Discovery which instantly goes into
Warp and dematerialises riding the wave of mushroom protein, which is
not to her liking.

When they return home it's 9 months too late--like they weren't
expecting that after Lorca revealed he'd spent 250 odd days being
tortured since his return, and like the Quorn Drive can also do time
travel--and the Klingon's have won the war. Or rather there managed to
capture 25% of Federation space (neutral zone anyone?), and lose 30% of
their ships. And now Emperor Gerogiou is going to try to save the day.
When are she and Michael going to have sex? That's what everyone wants
to see, not gay doc and gay engineer.

Once again the ludicrousy of Political Correctness permeating though
this episode is exposed since how can a woman, a person of the inferior
sex, have been allowed to rule the Terran Empire which according to
Lorca was built on the principles of survival of the fittest? What
happened to women being reduced to sex slaves we saw in Mirror Mirror,
and Season 4 of Enterprise? Lorca of course is right, and a better story
would have been to show that he is right by keeping Michael and the
Discovery in the Mirrorverse and seeing them become like the Terrans,
and enjoying it. Maybe they will be brought back to it at a later time?
John Norman's Gor novels would seem a good place to start.

I was giving Aggie an example of a woman (Hoshi, IIRC) taking over the Empire! Aggie thought that a female Imperial leader was totally unbelievable!

And Hoshi acted like a whore, which is why women shouldn't be allowed to
gain power at all, and why homosexuality should have been punishable by
death. It should have been made clear the gay engineer was in the closet
and feared of being outed, or that he was acting as a heterosexual.

Season 4 of Enterprise: A woman takes over the Empire as Empress.
Must be cumpulsive obsessive Tim?
I was giving Aggie an example of a woman (Hoshi, IIRC) taking over the
Empire! Aggie thought that a female Imperial leader was totally
unbelievable!
OH?

I seem to remember that Sulu was fucking Uhura in that one, which is
probably why he objected to being portrayed as being gay in the reboot.

Mirror, Mirror: During his visit to the Mirror universe, Kirk goes to Imperial Kirk's quarters. There he finds Lieutenant Marlena Moreau, who refers to herself as the "Captain's Woman", stretched out on his bed.

She likes to "Oil her traps" and use a Tantalus Field (a weapon concealed in Kirk's quarters) to disappear Kirk's enemies.

refers to herself as the "Captain's Woman", stretched out on his bed.
She likes to "Oil her traps" and use a Tantalus Field (a weapon
concealed in Kirk's quarters) to disappear Kirk's enemies.
How "modern" a description.

Season 4 of Enterprise: A woman takes over the Empire as Empress.
Must be cumpulsive obsessive Tim?
I was giving Aggie an example of a woman (Hoshi, IIRC) taking over the
Empire! Aggie thought that a female Imperial leader was totally
unbelievable!
OH?

Aggie seemed to find it "ludicrousy" that a woman be allowed to rule the Terran Empire!
The issue here is that we're dealing with an Emperor not a monarch
succeeding to the throne after murdering her father or brother. Where
would the legitimacy of being of the royal bloodline be in an Empress?
There would be none at all and thus no reason for any of the empire's
generals or their troops to be loyal to her.

back and then Michael grabs her a second before everything blows as
she's being transported onto the Discovery which instantly goes into
Warp and dematerialises riding the wave of mushroom protein, which is
not to her liking.
So much for prosecuting Emperor Gerogiou for murder!

Correct. The Klingons and others finally defeat it and subject humans to

<SPOILERS>
Why hasn't Starfleet installed Spore Drives on its warships to give them
an advantage over the Klingons?
Tought to adapt.
Discovery crew now present to help with installations.
Oh?

As a wild guess, probably because the writers don't want to give
Starfleet too much of an advantage over the Klingons. It would rob the
series of suspense.

With the Klingons kicking Star Fleet's asses, I would expect instability problems would not be a barrier to use of a super fast drive.

not install Spores?
Say what?
I am seeking the in universe reason for Star Fleet to not install Spore
Drives on its ships.
Stablility.
With the Klingons kicking Star Fleet's asses, I would expect instability
problems would not be a barrier to use of a super fast drive.
The spore drive is not stable.

Star Trek: Discovery S01E13 What's Past Is
Prologue
When they return home it's 9 months too late--like
they weren't expecting that after Lorca revealed
he'd spent 250 odd days being tortured since his
return, and like the Quorn Drive can also do time
travel--and the Klingon's have won the war. Or
rather there managed to capture 25% of Federation
space (neutral zone anyone?), and lose 30% of their
ships.
Why hasn't Starfleet installed Spore Drives on its
warships to give them an advantage over the
Klingons?
As a wild guess, probably because the writers don't want to give
Starfleet too much of an advantage over the Klingons. It would rob
the series of suspense.
But the writers gave the Klingons the advantage of capturing 25% of
the Federation!
Which _increases_ the tension, jeopardy, etc..
Post by Timothy Bruening
Shouldn't they spread the Spore Drive to a few Star Fleet ships to
restore the power balance?
Not until it's time for the story to resolve that tension, jeopardy, etc..
Star Fleet would not care about the needs of writers, so why would it

Star Fleet might not care about the needs of writers, but as a fictional
creation, it has to follow them.

The in-universe reason is probably something boring like cost, time,
resources, training, etc.

With the Klingons beating Star Fleet black and blue, I expect that it would invest vast sums in Spore Drive development and installation.

Present now in Federation Universe. Star Fleet can order its
crew to show its engineers how to install and operate Spore
Drive.
No.
But its the logical thing to do!
You think the scripts are written by Vulcans?
Sarek would certainly see the logic in equipping all vessels with Spore Drives, since otherwise, the Klingons would likely continue to kick the Feds' rear ends!
