I just started reading Maxine Marx's book. In the prologue she is
having a conversation with Uncle Groucho about a biography of the Marx
Brothers in which Groucho "unwittingly" made nasty comments about
Chico. Neither the book nor the author is named. Does anyone happen to
know the book to which she is alluding?

TIA,
Jack

She could be referring to “The Marx Brother’s Scrapbook”.

I don't own that scrapbook and haven't thoroughly examined it, but I
have leafed through it a couple of times. Groucho certainly uses the F-
word a lot. So I would say that is a good guess.

I'd put my money on the Scrapbook, too. Groucho and the f-bombs start
exploding on page one, where the first disparaging comments about
Chico appear.

Then again, he's pretty ruthless throughout the book, ripping lots of
people a new one, as Mr. Anobile sort of prods him on. Actually, he
was Ruth-less, Kay-less, Eden-less and Erin-driven around the time it
was written and published.

If the Scrapbook becomes available in electronic format (y'know - if
it gets Kindled or Nooked) maybe somebody can count how many times
Groucho used the f-word in that interview. :-)
